Whats in your Easter basket this year?

Well, we are very much into the religious meaning of Easter as my DH gets up at 5 am to go over to the church to help make a full breakfast buffet for about 250 to 300 people. Our church's Easter breakfast is FAB!!:thumbsup2 We have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, and various beverages. DH says he works harder that morning than any other day in the year. This is all done by men (no women allowed). They cook, serve, clean up... And to think tix for this only cost $1.
Anyway, I know that wasn't the poster's question, but felt it was relavant, as I chose to be extravagant on my DDs baskets this year.
DD14: CD (one coming out this Tues), Flicka DVD, B&BW shower gel & spray & eye mask, beach towel, Pirates shoulder bag, 3 Am Eagle Tee's (all on clearance 2 X $6, 1 x 8.50), some of the cost of her trip to Boston for 4 days w/ Church youth group (she needed spending money for a few meals and some special items specifically for the trip), cool zebra themed pic frame and mosiac style zebra (both for her new room...we move in 3 weeks), book 4 in Sisterhood series, Starbucks GC
dd11: AG doll Nicki and her dog, AG doll swimsuit, Sherbert Bunny webkinz, B&BW eye gel mask (she gets terrible headaches...hope this will give some relief), some pins for trading at WDW this summer, 1 Stitch '07 keeper pin, Full House season 6 DVD set, and some other stuff that I don't remember.
I have it all in a special bag since we move just 4 days after Easter. I know too many, it may be excessive. But we had a rough Christmas this year as DH was in and out of hospital 2x in Dec and I just couldn't seem to get my act together for Christmas. Everyone is different, and I don't think that my way is the only way, but it works for us and that's all that matters. I enjoy buying stuff for my kids. And trust me, my DD14 understands that I don't "DO" the sense of entitlement. I've left the store w/o buying her a necessity when she starts w/ the "Tude". Just the other week, she Needed new pants, she wanted me to buy other shirts, etc., I said "not what we came for", she started w/ the "tude", we left the store w/ nothing. Lesson learned, hopefully. ;) Not the first time, probably won't be the last either.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Well, I just Dollar Stored for Dh, Dd, and Myself!!!

Dh is getting 2 Spiderman compressed Wash Cloths and a praying hands chocolate to remind us of the true meaning of Easter.

Dd is getting the Savings Bond that her Aunt gave her at birth, Hanging Bed pockets, for her remotes, and new Lipstick I bought for her at Christmas, she loved it so much she needed a new one. Traditional gifts, Bubble Wands with the bubble stuff on them you just dip in water, left over from last year, and instead of sidewalk chalk this year non toxic Dri Erase pens. Praying hands chocolate and peeps.

I'm getting 2 Tinkerbell pencil sharpeners and the praying hands chocolate.

Update - I went back to the Dallor Store Today and Got the peeps Orange Creme Egg Peeps, the Melster Creme Eggs, 3 flavors, 6 Eggs and found 9 Lives - 3 orange colored sound balls for the Cat to play with!!

We spend a week at the Jersey Shore every summer, so the DKids will be getting ride tickets for the amusement pier in addition to the usual overload of candy. I'll probably also get DS15 a gamecard for the online RPG that he does. And DD16 will be getting the equivalent amount in euros for our trip to France.

My kids our older 9 yrs old and 16. I make small basket w/choc. bunny, reese eggs and sweet heart. What I do, I feel the plastic eggs with money :) this way my kids can buy what they want. We have a egg hunt inside the house.
I DD who is 16:rotfl2: still want to play the game...I said to her aren't you to old for this?

Given your circumstances, I think it's wonderful that you can make up for a bad Christmas. Make sure your "tude"ing (is that like the "dude" bit i get from my DD?) DD realizes this is something special to make up for it.

I Hope you all have a great one and keep everyone, including that hubby, out of the hospital! ;)

We're not big ones for Easter baskets. My DS13 will get a pair of Crocs. DS9 will be getting a new basketball. Usually they get a bunch of different gums but I'm not sure what we will do this year since DS9 now has an expander and can't chew it. Happy Easter everyone:goodvibes

Don't have any little ones here to buy for so Dfiance and I put together a basket for his niece who is 9 and my little brother who is 10, his niece is coming tonight and we're going to see my family Sunday so we had some fun putting together a budget minded basket for each of them. We loaded up on loads of the .88 items from Walmart, some were even 2 for .88. Great Deals!

Here is what we came up with:

In his niece's basket the highest priced item was a $5.50 Barbie movie from Walmart.
Other items:
Basket,Grass,Bubble Wand, Pool Float, Disney Paddle Board, Talking Bunny, Barbie Kite, Minnie Pen, Hair Ties, Some Candy, Water Wiggler, Glow in the Dark Putty, Three Disney Princess Scrap Stickers, Pink Sparkle Bracelet.
I also threw in a pin we had bought a long time ago and two Hello Kitty Candies I had saved from a clearance sale. Spent about $15 total!

In my Brother's Basket the most expensive item was the Zathura DVD we found for $4.00 after Christmas.
His Basket:
Basket, Grass, Radio, Paddle Ball, Pool Float, Pooh Pen, Glow in the dark putty, Glow in the dark band, Talking Frog, Pal Mickey Poncho, Water Gun, 1/2 of the Candy from the other basket, Pirates Playing Cards. Spent about $15 total!
Also threw in a Chip and Dale pin we bought awhile back.

I was going to do toothbrushes for my kids as well this year. Has anyone tried the tune brushes? Do they work?

Oh and for DD5 she is getting a book from Costco on how to be a princess. it has the history of princesses and will answer all the questions she has! A princess lunchbox tin from Fred Meyer $3 filled with a multi colored pencil, big eraser and light up princes pen total $3 some princess stickers and a bunny stamp. I think that is about it

My DD18m I am still working on. A plastic shovel and rake for her sandbox, a coloring book, minnie mouse car that you pull back and it goes forward and a toothbrush for her as well

the question for me is WHAT ISN'T in their easter basket this year???:lmao:

for 2 baskets ...I hit the dollar tree and got floats, rafts, sand buckets (this is actually the basket) with shovel, sand diggers, bubbles, a choc bunny, sixlets, bubble gum, coloring book. Also tooth tunes tooth brush, junie b jones book and dora book, charlotte's web, new swimsuits, flip flops, sunglasses, $2.99 t-shirts from the DS (3 each). (we are headed to the beach in June so most of this is stuff for the trip, but they don't have to know that..:rotfl: ) bath fizzies..ohhh and a magic towel!!!

Oh and hairbows too...

I bought dd2 thos same pink bubbles for our spring break camping trip and well, she thought they were juice and tried to drink them....needless to say she only got a little sip before she realized it was not juice and we hosed her mouth out with water..Poor kid..now when she sees them at wal-mart she says, " those bubbles are yucky"..;) Cute baskets by the way..I love how they are color coordinated..You must be related to me!!!LOL

Ours is going to be a Disney prep basket since we are going in June. Jibbitz, Crocs, Nintendo DS game, sunglasses, and very little candy. Any other suggestions?

Thanks! Our Niece's basket was so much easier to coordinate and find stuff for, my brother was a little harder but I think we did well. He asked me for playing cards and a water gun while he was here visiting last week so I picked those up for the basket. The floats also match their baskets, pink for her's and yellow for his.

I snagged those Bubbles on the way out of the store, I was "done" but I saw them and thought for $1 why not...of course then I also saw the Minnie/Pooh light up pens.

These baskets are way scaled back as to what we normally get them, Easter is as "cool" as Christmas from Auntie and Uncle and from Big Sis normally they get 3 or 4 big toys from Toys R Us and a basket of Candy but this year I just didn't have time to clearance shop leading up to Easter so this will have to do. I think they'll like them though.

DD9:

very little candy - she likes Lindt so we got her some of that and I also found a cute fairy bunny from Dove. Two Webkinz, a Beanie Baby bunny, Jibbitz, Kohls exclusive Littlest Pets, Bella Sara Horse cards, the big tub of sidewalk chalk (so we can get rid of all the broken pieces and start fresh), the torpedos that light up for playing with in the pool. Might pick up small packs of Pokemon (although hoping the Horse ones will take their place) and some small outdoor stuff like a big thing of bubbles.....am glad I didn't already buy too much of that stuff 'cause she won a basketful of it at her school/PTA carnival last week....

OK - found a bag of stuff I had put away and forgotten about: American Girl punch art craft kit (meant to pick up some Disney puches and paper) and a book of fairy puzzles

DD 8 is going to be getting Charlotte's web DVD and book, stuffed horses (not a bunnie girl), some candy , hair stuff, new lunch box and a hula-hoop.
DS-12 is a little bit tougher, maybe a video game, i-tunes card, candy, nerf football....

I used to fill the baskets with these...then realize I was cleaning those out for garage sale every year!

SOOOO....I got DS11 $15 iTunes card, and DD8 & DS6 are into Littlest Pet shop, so they each got one for under $10. Then 4 or 5 bags of candy to share in their baskets...less than $50 for the whole kit & kaboodle! And I know I got them things that they will love & use...it's all good!

We have REALLY downgraded gift giving at our house the last few years...MIL took us on DCL last year...we figured spending $ was Xmas (OK, Santa did bring Disney jammies, swimsuits & tees for everyone!--ya can't take wrapped gifts on a plane! The kids were totally thrilled, and never once missed larger items). We spoke w/ the kids about a family trip instead of Xmas gifts & they were all for it (DS6 wasn't QUITE as sure...no worries, Santa will still bring a little bit!)

My DD is 19 months and yes I'm sure I spend way to mcuh on and easter baskets here is what is inside.
2 little pet shop toys total of 10.00
Stuff easter bunny 5.00
Total for candy with choc bunny 99c one 5.00
Peter pan on DVD would hve bough any way 20.00
Disney Dollars leaving 4/23 to 5/3 25.00
Easter basket 0 last years grass 50c

Now that my kids are older (DS12, DD11) I tend to buy more practical things for their baskets. I also try to tie the gifts in with an upcoming need - in this case, a trip in May to SSR (and the Flower and Garden Festival). DS is getting "Happy Feet" the DVD and a rash guard shirt and bright red shorts from Land's End overstocks. DD is getting a summer dress from Land's End and a rash guard shirt from Land's End overstocks. The water off the coast of Mass. stays cold all year long and my kids need the swim shirts to endure it. DD is also getting a pair of baby blue Crocs to go with the dress. I put very little candy in the baskets since both children wear braces - no jelly beans allowed. I do allow Peeps if my kids brush right after. I plan to fill some plastic eggs with cash for spending money on our vacation. I'm not sure what to do about fur-baby (Crucian Terrier) since it seems there is nothing safe to feed her! Maybe some plastic eggs filled with Cheerios?

I already caved and gave our Fur Babies their first Easter Present of the year...lol. A noise making ducky, they went crazy for it, esp after I rubbed Cat Nip on it. I'm looking for other goodies for them as well. Normally I would buy them a "treat" what we call Wet foods, since it sometimes makes the older kitty sick they don't get it often. But now this year I won't be doing that because of the recall, I guess I'm glad she has a sensitive tummy so we stick to dry foods. But they LOVE wet when I allow it. Maybe I'll see about a nice tuna filet as they really like this and the oldest like's Cheese Burgers from McDonald's, so for her maybe some McD's bucks...lol.

The kitten Stitch would be elated to get a couple of hair ties, she just loves to drive me crazy batting these all over the house and hiding them. I found 20+ of them under the couch when I moved furniture the other day.
