Whats in your Easter basket this year?

I bought a dvd of "Pursuit of Happyness" to give my two grandsons when we see them Sunday. They are older and since being overweight runs in the family I try to stay away from too much junk food. :thumbsup2

Being a cheapskate I plan to watch the dvd before giving to them but they are used to me and my ways. :lmao:

Slightly Goofy

Nothing extreme in our baskets.

DS5 & DD2 1/2
A board game for each
small pool toy
6 candy filled eggs each

I feel kinda cheap this year but I feel I am generous with the kids year round so no need to go to extremes, plus my kids don't know too much about the real meaning of Easter so I don't want them to just think it's about toys and candy.

I loaded up on inexpensive books at the last school scholastic sale plus I got some free for volunteering. So those are in the easter basket. I took the 39 cent candy coupons to Walgreens and got a FEW candies.......trying to stay away from that.

I 'll try to do the picture thing. My heart wants to do the traditional all candy and a stuffed bunny thing, but I hate all that candy around. I got:

1 bag each-MnM's, Reeses eggs(sm ones), Jolly rancher jelly beans, and kisses to split b/t 3 baskets and an egg hunt for 4 kids

DD7 is getting a horse book (since that is all she reads about pretty much!)and a mix clip that was on clearance and a chocolate cross

DD9 is getting 1 of the last 2 AG books she has to read(out of ALL of them!), a bathing suit she loved from Old Navy (that I did not get right in front of her a few weeks ago(she was bummed but I had my plans;) ) and a chocolate cross

We put 1 small basket out for DH and myself but this will probably be the last year for that. This year I have the new Tim McGraw CD for us to share-but the DD's love his music so it is for them too!

Oh and my mini dachsund is getting a new rawhide bone!

Happy Easter!

This year, we did gazillion bubbles, candy, puzzles, littlest pet shop stuff, some candy, a cozy rabbit with a soccer ball, jax, a jump rope, and we are hiding like 36 easter eggs for ONE kid. So, she should be busy for a while! I don't get the whole easter thing. We aren't religious, so this is just about the Rabbit for us.

Looks like I went waaaay overboard, this year, but I actually tried to go practical with a couple of items. My dd's, ages 4 and 7, and getting basically the same thing. I ordered the Disney Croc's through the deal I found here, on the Dis:thumbsup2 . They're getting Disney MP3's, but I used $$ from our Disney Visa:cool1: . They are always listening to music, but my 4 yr old likes her own stuff. This way, they can listen to music on the plane.

They also wanted the Rainbow Barbies this year. I thought I was going to choke...at $20 a piece. I found them at Target today for $15 each, and used my $25 obopay card that I rec'd this week:thumbsup2 . I ended up paying less than $10, which included tax:banana: !!! THANKS FELLOW DISSERS!!!!

They're also getting a littlest petshop, bubble gum, choc eggs, and choc easter bunnies. I know it sounds like a lot, but it is stuff they will use...vs. cheap junk I usually throw in there. All things considered, I stayed within budget!

Today I went shopping for my son's Easter goodies. His basket will be filled with:

* Three piece kids gardening tool set.
* Small watering can.
* Packets of seeds and a tube of wildflower seeds.
* Mini hummingbird feeder.
* Bubbles
* Disney Stickers (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck and Goofy. They are adorable! I found them at Big Lots and paid $1.)
* Dove Organic Milk Chocolate Bar

The only items I'm lacking are a kids knee pad and kids gloves. I saw some at Target so I'll be making a trip there tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Easter!

Each boy is getting a DVD (DS13 Invinceable, DS 8 Rocky Balboa, DS 4 MM Clubhouse). Also the oldest two are getting two $15 gc from Itunes, and some baseball cards. Youngest is getting a book and some baseball cards.

Also, peeps, m&ms, pb cups and other candy I cannot remember.

Happy Easter.

DH & I put together baskets for the kids, but DS 6 was asking for hidden eggs! He loved his little iPod, but was disappointed that there were no eggs!!! Luckily his aunt brought some for all the kids to find at Grandma's house.

So those of you thinking your kids will outgrowing egg hunts next year, think again! :laughing:

No pics, but my dd7 & 9's basket include 1pair each short pajamas, a summer dress, 1 bag Hershey's eggs, 2 Hershey's bunnies, 1 valentine tin with sugar cookies, 1 princess lightup wand w/ candy tarts, the dancing Barbie from 12 princess and a Webkinz. I spent $29.50 each- but I would normally get them the dress/pjs for a new season (got the pj's for $3.74 Target clearance last summer) $8 dress from sale at Kmart. The Hershey's candy was basically free- paid 3.46 after coupons & ECBs then got $5 back- and the cookie tin/wand were 90% off from Target after V-day. (Used rest of Vday candy for dd7's goodie bags for Bday last week) and the Barbie's were $4.11 target clearance after xmas.

I always give them one sundress and other clothes item that I would normally buy for the season- I have egg shaped containers that I bought about 5 yrs ago and the dress goes in there- last year they got new underwear and socks with the dress-lol!

I can't hide real eggs because my dog or cat will find them. Also stopped filling the plastic eggs with candy when dd-then 4- ate all the chocolate from the eggs in her room and had a tummy ache at 4am one easter morning! I got a roll of quarters from the bank and had the kids fill their basket with 20 plastic eggs each then I filled them with a quarter each for the Bunny to hide ;-) The proceeds go to their summer trip to Nana's that we are saving.

They had a great day.

Hopefully this comes out.
