What's in a title anyway? How about 1300 pictures? 4/15/11-> Bonus Section pt1 & 2

You had some really great shots this update. I can't believe how blue the sky looks over Mexico. (I actually got a pic in the Bahamas of DH with 2 boys on a boat and would never have imagined how well my camera captured the turquoise of the water, but it was amazing!)
So which lens should you use inside those dark rides like Spaceship Earth? (which is one of my ALL time favs). You still got some good ones, by the way.
We celebrated DH's Birthday in Disney a couple of years ago and it was great! So cool you got to be in the happiest place on earth on your happiest day of the year!
I want to go to the Bahama's!!!! I can't wait till we can start doing some real traveling. In a few years, we'll be able to do day trips to Disney :woohoo: After that a vacation will consist of a cruise somewhere. Can Not Wait!

As for the lens, I have a Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens that goes for about $200. For indoor or dark pictures, the thing is great but I left it back at the hotel room every day we were there. I was just being lazy. This next trip, I'm going to sacrifice convenience for quality. I know I can do better. I owe it to myself and to my fellow Disers to prove it!

I like your idea of dining on the People Mover. I wonder how hard it would be to get ressies.

Sounds like you had a fantastic birthday! I'd love to have a Disney birthday but since it's in September that will have to wait until my kids are out of school. Did you guys get to see Remy at Chefs de France?

Seriously, the People Mover would go from being empty all the time to needing an ADR at exactly 180 days out!

Nope, no Remy. I did want to catch him for an interview but no dice. Even though there was no rats at dinner, my birthday was awesome! I've always disliked having a November birthday because of the cold weather. There's just nothing to do! My 30th was the first one that was incredible....she sent me and a bunch of guys to Atlantic City for the weekend. That is now tied for first place with Disney World with the kids. I hope you do get there one year. It's crazy but you can go so many years saying it's just another day, than you do it at the parks and it's AWESOME again! :lmao:

:rotfl2: That's too funny. I wish I knew people that worked there!

Oh, and ......
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I wouldn't say twins though! I turned 31. You still have quite a few years till you catch up to me:thumbsup2

Oh why thank you for the flattery, but I am just a hop, skip and a jump behind you at 27...

---Also, loved your comment about how you can't wait to take real vacations when Disney is known as a day-trip! Ahhh... my dream as well!

Great updates :thumbsup2 Again loads of great pictures and the boys are just too cute and looked like they were having a blast with Kyle.

Your birthday looked like lots of fun, great park to spend it in too. Glad you enjoyed Chef's was a shame Remy didn't stop by to wish you Happy Birthday though. The boys would have gotten a kick out of seeing him :)

Thoughts and/or advice. I am thinking of picking up a used D60. What're your thoughts on lenses? I am tossing around ideas on the kit lens, 18-55 / wide angle-telephoto 35-70 / telephoto 70-210.

What would you do?

Great update Rob!!! It is pretty darn cool celebrating your actual birthday in Disney world isn't it??? I got to celebrate my birthday in Disney this past December!!!

You so have me wanting to stay at the Beach Club!!! We are actually considering rest DVC points never April. We're planning on staying in Disney for 2 night before sailing on the Dream and REALLY want to stay at the BC b/c of its close proximity to Epcot and DHS.

Can't wait to hear all about day 7!

Great updates! I always love looking at your attraction photos!

Sounds like you had a terrific birthday! What a perfect way to spend a birthday! :cool1:

We are seriously looking to move down there in the next few years:cool1: I don't think anybody is taking us seriously though:confused3

Me too! I did want to see him but it was so busy in there it would have taken forever to get around to us! We really did have a great time with Kyle....enough to where he may show up again ;)

I sent you a PM. The one lens I'd skip would be the 35-70. Check out the 35mm 1.8 The D60 is a nice camera but I saw the D5000 wouldn't be that much more and would have much better ISO capabilities.

Birthdays at Disney are AWESOME. Everybody should do it at least once, especially adults who don't care about them anymore:thumbsup2
The Beach Club is by far my favorite place to stay. If we were only there for two days it would be sooo hard for us. On one hand you have the best hotel to stay at, on the other you have the parks right there. I'm not sure what's we'd rather do:confused3 I could spend the whole week there and never hit a park

b/t/w I sent you a PM about your trip!

Great updates! I always love looking at your attraction photos!

Thank you! Next TR will have better ones I hope but the ones I have now aren't too bad I think. Yea, it was great being there for my birthday. If my 30th wasn't so much fun I'd say it was the best ever!

Love your EPCOT photos! I recently was able to have an evening at EPCOT where we just took our time, relaxed, and took in the wonders. It truly is such a great place.

Your birthday tee rocks! Your present doesn't sound too bad either! :thumbsup2

Love the Buzz and Woody tees. Adorable. :cutie:

My dad's birthday will be in Disney this year and I wonder if he would wear a shirt like that... :rolleyes1

Glad you had such a great birthday. You and your family are just so cute! :grouphug:

Awe thanks! The T-shirts are cool. Tina has gotten pretty good at it....she done quite a few to date. My recliner is just what the doctor ordered! The gift I use EVERY day for years to come! Tell your dad he has to wear it.....and get him a birthday pin from the hotel or at the park gates. Magical things happen when you wear the pin:thumbsup2

Just a quick off topic post. After all that huffing and puffing about not being able to get the dining plan because we booked our May trip through Expedia, the next round of deals came out yesterday and we ended up saving another $4 by booking it through Disney.:cool1:
Just when I was getting excited about beating the price of the meal plan because we didn't have a choice, now we have a choice and don't know if I want to risk it :confused3

Oh woe is me

So you were able to get the meal plan for less??? That's awesome... What discount were you able to apply? The % off the room one?

Not really, it's just now we can get the meal plan whereas before when we booked with Expedia we weren't. We cancelled Expedia and went through Disney. With the new discounts it went cheaper than Expedia by $4.

What I wanted to do before was get a gift card or prepaid debit card with say $500 on it just for meals and see how much $$$ we had left over at the end of the week. Whatever was left over would be how much we saved by not doing the dining plan. It would have been my personal  to Disney for not letting us get the DDP. But now we have the option and I don't know if I want to purchase it or not

OK I am joining in, I know I am really late but you write a really good TR and take great pictures!!!

Glad to have ya! It's never too late to join in, in fact my wonderful wife Tina just started tagging along last night. As we speak, I'm stuck up at Newark airport so I don't see an update happening tonight, but stick around, this trip ain't over yet!

I know I know, I'm just hard headed *sigh*

Congrats on the new purchase!!! You should be shooting by the weekend! B&H ships fast too so I'm thinking you might have it wednesday or thursday! Now for the fun stuff!!!
If you arent sure how iso, shutter speed, and aperture are all connected to get a proper exposure, check out a book by Bryan Peterson called Understanding Exposure. He makes it pretty easy. I'm on my phone right now so it would be hard to paste a link, but check out the "how to" posts by Mark Barberi in the photography section on here...good stuff!

Oh yea, Tina just got caught up and called me to point out that I just turned 32, not 31. Shes so good to me lol

I did it!!! Well... Shamus did it! I made him come and click "complete order" - I just couldn't do it! Now I am freaking out a little bit... it will come with a battery - right?! :confused3 Estimated arrival is Friday - I will not be leaving my house AT ALL until it arrives!!!

So nice of you Tina  - I thought I was 26 this year until I got an automated email from something or another that said: Happy 27th birthday Jennifer... when birthday's don't include goody bags and pin the tail on the donkey your just tend to forget!

They will send you an email when it ships and another with the tracking number. Check and re check that tracking number. I put in two orders with them but each time was before noon. They each had three day shipping and each one was at my house the next day! Congratulations! Welcome to the world of dslr!

Btw....if I got that price when I bought my d5000, I would have had it much sooner than when I got it!
