Just being nosey at availability and noticed that from August 7th - September 17th all accommodation types (including the water bungalows) are unavailable.

There was availability a couple of days ago so something is going on but does anyone know what? I know they're refurbishing the monorail etc and the normal hotel rooms but I can't understand why the DVC rooms have suddenly gone on these dates, especially the bungalows as they never sell out, not in blocks like that anyway!

Any ideas?

What I am seeing is from 8/15 to 9/17

That is a long time, 32 days, so the usual things that are on the radar, like a new gas main service feed should not take that long (I would expect 10 days max for that.)

Soft goods. roofs, environmental, common area maintenance are almost always done in area phasing so only a building at a time would be shut down.

Even with WL cash being closed it sounds like they are going floor by floor with that renovation.

Noticed this the other day as my 7 month window is approaching. 2 weeks ago there was total availability, and a lot of rooms not just 2 or 3.
Must be the soft goods refurb.

But that could be a phasing. 8/15 to 9/17 is at least partly within thee 7 month window, and availability seen previous could have been 10 units on any given day, for instance. Pulling a floor out is more than 10 units. So the draw down may not be particularly extreme.

Historically when they take partial inventory out for maintenance there are still a few days that pop up showing inventory, this is especially notable for the bungalows

The availability tended to be about 50+ standard view studios, I was expecting a 7 month switch to be a walk in the park and that was for mid September which is not in the 7 month window just quite yet. last week all of those rooms were gone.

In this case it seems like "something happened". Not saying it is anything wrong, but it seems a lot of rooms were pulled from inventory overnight.

I have a reservation 8/22-8/25....would they inform me if the room was not going to be available? I'm not very fond of suprises!

Just curious. How do you know what was showing on the website was 50 plus rooms?

I spoke to my DVC guide and he doesn’t even know 🤷🏼‍♀️

At this point, you are going to be fine as soft goods refurbs take place while people are staying in other rooms.

Obviously, anything could happen but seeing them take rooms out..whatever was left..does not mean they are going to shut down the entire DVC..

It’s not the same as what happens when Disney works on cash side of things.

Do you think the availability will come back?

unfortunately Disney has a long history for not being candid with guests around known likely moves

It is not uncommon for DVC to simply block out all available rooms when they know a significant number of rooms will be taken out of service as they develop a schedule for work, to maintain flexibility.

After they have a full plan I have seen them release the rooms that they are sure will not be impacted, then again I have seen this not happen also

It's in the data, just have to know how to get it, its behind the scenes. In effect the data that comes back from the server contains the number of rooms available. The actual site just shows availability if that number is greater than zero.
