What's going on with McDonald's french fries?

yep we had mickey d's yesterday and the fries were nasty! I don't really like their burgers, BUT I love McDonalds fries so we end up going there more often than Burger King although I like BK's burgers way better. I remember Burger King and McDonalds used to have similar tasting fries until Burger King changed theirs to the nastiness they have now. Ughhh can they not just leave it alone! I believe 99.9% of people that eat fast food know the negative nutritional values but why not let us choose to eat it or not? It's like they made the stuff healthier because there are people out there who can't 'not' eat McDonalds? If that makes any sense.

We haven't had the fried apple pies here in years. They have those nasty baked things. Yuck!

Yeah, I know. I moved here a year ago and discovered the fried pies and jumped for joy. My friend and i went to McDonald's just for the pies. Then, one day she came home with the bad news that they sold out. I said ok, when will they get more and she said never. They don't have any pie versions now. Fine with me. I think those baked things with that cinammon crap on top is disgusting.

Funny side note.......the first time we ordered the fried pies, my friend was so excited, she just bit into it. Burned her mouth. We did not know they fried them when ordered. I quickly said "Hey, lets sue. Give me the box and let me see if there is a warning. Yep, the warning that "contents were hot" was written in about 12 different languages!

Are they selling this Oriental option on the menu.....things like egg rolls and some sort of "oriental" burger? All I know is they need some Heinz ketchup here. That vinegary stuff they sell in the cups is gross.

No oriental stuff at our McD's. Since we are near the bay and ocean we get the famous McD's crabcakes though. They are disgusting!

These fries haven't been good since they threw out the beef tallow that they fried them in (when was that--the 80's or early 90's?) Anyway, you "young'uns" just would understand if you weren't raised on the full-fat, beef tallow McDonald's fries. Those things were heaven.

This seems to be a problem with a lot of restaurants lately. DH and I always order our fries without salt. Of course, at some establishments, it causes the person taking your order to go into 'Information Overload.'

I am fine with the fries here in Minnesota, but I can't eat McDonald's fries in Wisconsin. They taste completely different! It's the oil they use. It tastes terrible. Maybe they switched yours.

When I worked at McD's in the 70's, a person just shook on the salt...one of the few things not regulated. We used to have this cute older gentleman named Walt. He would order his fries without salt. When we saw him coming, we'd clean out the fry bin and make a fresh batch!

They have changed. I loved their fries and now I won't eat them anymore. I thought I heard something about them changing the type of oil they use.

I thought I had gotten a bad batch of fries (tasted like the oil was old) last week, but a few days ago at a different store, I noticed the same thing. I used to love their fries. Now it will be a lot easier to skip the fries or skip McDonalds, if the kids aren't with me.

I just had some McD's fries the other day. They did nothing for me. They weren't "nasty" or anything, but they definitely weren't the fries that leave ya diggin' in the bottom of the bag to see if maybe there are just a couple more. I didn't even finish them all. They haven't tasted the same to me for a long time.

the ketchup in the uk is all Heinz... dunno bout italy tho..

as a random aside.. i've had a mcdonald's in Naples and a couple in Pompei too... i spent the summer digging in Pompeii a few years ago... and we were camping so anywhere with air con was a blessing....

can't say I'm a fan of your trains tho..

We always order them without salt and then we put our own salt on. That way you get a nice, fresh batch! Just a little trick I learned working at Wendy's in high school.
