I just saw the post about the DDP. Not happy. But, do you think this will cut down on the number of diners? Will we able to make ADR's the night before again? Will this improve the dining options?

We booked our trip at about 90 days out and had no trouble with any ADR's. It is now 58 days away and I am still tweeking my ressies and got Chef Mickeys breakfast for any day and any time for the week that we are staying...that never happened before so maybe alot more people are not taking the dining plan?

Did something new happen?

Anyways, last year when I was planning for my free dining trip I have no problem making ADR's. I also changed them over and over and over again, I was still changing them when we got to WDW!

I still think ADRS may not be that easy if free dining( ok semi-free dining is offered to the general public) Disney dining CM said that despite the changes people are still buying the dp and the deluxe dp then not buying them

I don't care about tips but I'd prefer appetizers over desserts and I hate that it's not all the restaurants.

If you mean that not all the restaurants at WDW participate...there never was a time during the existence of the current DDP that all of them participated.

Which ones didn't participate? We never had a problem.

None of the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin participate, or ever have. Several of the Downtown Disney restaurants (Fultons, Portobello Yacht Club, Wolfgang Puck upstairs as examples, there are more) do not participate. Bistro de Paris at Epcot, Rainforest Cafe at AK and Victoria & Alberts don't participate. None of this is anything new. Other than V&A, these are restaurants that are not owned or run by Disney and have chosen not to participate.

I'm not sure why you dislike the fact that all the restaurants don't participate (unless "it's not all the restaurants" means something else) if you never had a problem. Most WDW restaurants do in fact participate. And those of us who don't use it like having a few restaurants around for which it might be easier to get a last-minute seating.

Appetizers have been removed for adults on the basic dining plan. There's now a deluxe dining plan that costs more, but among other things, includes the table service appetizer for adults.

Now that I think about it, this thread probably belongs on the Dining Plan board so I will move it.
