What's Free At Disneylan?

Oh, and if you are lucky enough to get to ride in the Pilots Wheel House on the Mark Train they may give you a Pilot's Certificate too.

Will they be doing this again after the R.O.A. refurb? When I was there last September I was told by one of the CM's that they had stopped allowing guests to do so because of injuries. He couldn't say if/when they would start doing it again if they fixed the 'problem', whatever it was.

I would love to get the chance to do so this summer if they do start it again.

Along the same lines, if you ask and are able to ride the Lily Belle you can receive a tender ticket that they can fill out with your party's information (or not -- I preferred them not to). It all depends on if they have any. When I went in March they were all out and it took until my last day in September to get one because they couldn't find any.

We did it in Nov. last year. Nov. 10th to be exact. Not sure why that CM told you that. :confused3Maybe they weren't doing it then, the CM was mistaken, or we were lucky and they had reinstated it before we asked. :goodvibes

I had never asked to do this before but after reading about it on there boards (along with riding in the engine on the train-did that, and riding in the Lilly Belle-haven't done that yet). DD10 and I went for a short visit after school that day and as we were walking by the Mark Twain she mentioned she wanted to ride. I remembered what I had read about riding in the wheelhouse and told her we should give it a try. I asked the first CM we saw on the dock and he turned out to be the pilot. He took us right up there (we got to board first, through gate to the side) and told DD when to pull the whistle and ring the bell. It was pretty fun! The wheelhouse is pretty small so I'm sure there's a small limit on how many riders they can accommodate. With the 3 of us (Pilot, DD, and me) we were pretty much at capacity. :crowded:

DD and pilot.

In the pictures it looks like it was really dark out but it was just at sunset. Which made for a beautiful ride. :cloud9:

Great smile on that happy girl.

Heaven forbid that you'll ever need this, but you can get free aspirin and other first aid items (including "feminine" products) at the first aid building on Main Street. The only decent place to take a nap, too, in DL. Discovered that first-hand the last time I was there (on the bright side, as I was leaving from my first of 2 trips there that day, I managed to run into Chip and Dale without a large crowd around them during peak hours on a summer day).

Several posters have mentioned free coffee refills but something we started doing this winter was getting free hot water. You think, what am I going to do with free hot water? Make hot tea of course! I bring along my own tea bags and when it's cold we make our own tea. Saves $2.69 each, which is great.

I do this all the time, but not just because it saves money. I do it because I'm very particular about my tea. So we bring our own English tea and enjoy a cup or three in the little alleyway with tables and chairs across from the ice cream shop on Main Street. No CM has ever denied me a cup of hot water. If they did, I'd buy a cup of tea and then use my own tea. In short, we see DL as BYOTea ;-).

Odd. We were there last Sept. too and were told that it was only temporarily suspended. With all of the variance in answers from CMs, I wonder if there's a lot of misunderstanding going on or it's more a case of people making up answers when they don't know them. Perhaps it's easier just to say something has been discontinued rather than go into a lengthy explanation for someone you suspect won't be coming back. Just a thought...
