What's for X-Mas Eve Dinner?

We usually do appetizers. Last year it was pepperoni bread, jalapeno popper dip (served with baguette slices and tortilla chips), crockpot meatballs, and homemade sugar cookies for dessert.

We love snacking on appetizers and watching Christmas movies! We run around all day on Christmas so having Christmas Eve be an at-home, relaxing day with just my husband and son is great.

I bought this awesome app tray at Wal-Mart last year and the kids has ask for again this year.

We are Italian so 7 fishes (or close to it) on Christmas eve. Christmas day its filet migon some kind of potato and a vegetable

We generally have Tourtiere, French Canadian meat pie. It can be made and frozen in advance and defrosted and heated Christmas Eve. Then off to the inlaws for a carol sing.

The kids & I were going to go out but I'm kinda backing off that idea. We'll go to 3:00 mass then home. I thought about making a couple of cornish hens and then traditional sides but I don't know how to do this if we go to mass in the afternoon. It might be easier on me if we go to midnight mass then I will be able to cook.

Anyway, for Xmas Day we'll go to the movies in the early afternoon so I was thinking appetizers for dinner. Doubt we'll really be hungry after all the movie popcorn.

We'll be eating out....somewhere. We will be returning from five days at Niagara Falls on Christmas Eve, so depending on what time we depart from Great Wolf Lodge, the weather, etc., we will grab whatever we can, when we can.

Christmas Day will be finger foods and appetizers this year.

Appetizers!

Now that we are all grown we all make something or more than one thing to bring. I make bacon wrapped water chestnuts and cheese straws.

Breakfast morning is Wife Saver (made by my mom) and Cinnamon Pull a parts (made by me since I don't like Wife Saver).

I used to host the extended family and always did lasagna and salad and rolls.
My sister has taken over and now it's more of a pot-luck.

Spinach dip appetizer

Salad
Rolls
Scallops/crab cakes
Ham (for my dad) who doesn't eat seafood
Broccoli casserole
Some sort of potato

Sounds delicious but I have to ask you if you have ever made an Alton Brown recipe? I have made several and they always disappoint. DH and I are HUGE A. Brown fans but his recipes....somehow don't work out for us. Check out Tyler Florence's recipes, they never disappoint.

I've never had an AB recipe disappoint! His mashed potatoes, meatloaf, turkey, and a ton of others are in our regular rotation. We did this recipe last year for Christmas Eve and I loved it.

But, now that you've got me searching, Tyler Florence has a Spicy Beef Tenderloin recipe that looks amazing! I love a little spice. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/spicy-grilled-beef-tenderloin-recipe.html

Christmas Eve is homemade pizza night around here, it has been since I was a kid.

We always spend Christmas Eve with Dh's family. This year, we want to change it up a bit. So rather than the traditional meal (which we all repeat the next day anyway), we are having all finger foods. Other changes are going to be playing dirty santa and a bonfire and fireworks for the kids.

I plan to make a butterfinger dip, meatballs, crab and shrimp dip and little ham sandwiches and maybe a veggie tray.

Christmas Day will be a huge breakfast at my house for my kids and grandkids and then a late traditional dinner at mom's. And if I was to guess, we will be back at mil's for leftovers that evening and a bonfire for the teens.

Yes, 2 days of non-stop eating.

We normally go out to ear before/after church (depending on which service we go to).

However, this year we will be in Florida, so our Christmas Eve dinner will be on the dining plan at Sea World, followed up by visiting Yeeha Bob at POR!

Christmas Eve is Olive Garden lasagna and fettuccini alfredo (my cousin and I can't have the lasagna for different reasons) with salad and bread sticks. This way no one has to cook since we get together not only our way too big family, but also my cousin's husband's family.

The Christmas Day (eve) we will do a traditional turkey dinner.

Christmas Eve dinner is at Biergarten followed by the Candlelight Processional. Christmas Day will be a late breakfast at Whispering Canyon and dinner will be desserts at the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party.

We missed Christmas at Disney last year and can't wait to return. pixiedust:

Some of you are posting about restaurants? They are open on Christmas Eve? They all close here by 5 on Christmas Eve including McDonald's.

As for us we are having ham on CE with ILs and then going to my family for turkey on Christmas Day.

Lobster and a petite steak with some type of potatoes and red lobster biscuits I will make.

I can't think of any that aren't (but I'm sure there are a few). Maggiano's is always packed and I make reservations a few months ahead of time.
