Sorry, no pic of the finished meal, yet. The computer is acting funny. DH wants to back it up, before I do anything else.:scared:

I have some REALLY GOOD NEWS!!! Alan just called me! The story has changed somewhat. When the tv station was called, they were told that a woman had been scalped in a convenience store parking lot and that was pretty much it! When Alan got down there, he found a much different story. Yes, a woman had been scalped, but there was no "crime" involved. This woman had hair down to her knees, and she had it pulled into a ponytail at the back of her head. She and her husband were racing go carts in an abandoned convenience store parking lot. Her hair was blowing behind her and got caught in the motor and it scalped her. From her eyebrows back to behind her ears, the scalp was completely ripped away. Her husband saw what happened, and was able to cut the hair out of the motor, keeping the back edge of the scalp attached to her head. She was taken to the hospital, where they were able to reattach the scalp. She is doing fine, but Alan says she looks like Frankenstein's monster.

I'm just so glad that this story has a happy ending, and wasn't the story that everyone first believed. Whew! I guess I will be able to sleep tonight!

Glynis, That is good news! At least she wasn't attacked! I feel really bad for her, but the initial incident report sounded so much worse!

Tonight we're having Oven BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Mac & Cheese and Corn. Have a great day everyone!

I have just resorted to the fact that he will not eat it. I made meatloaf the last time...he gobbled it up like it was beef and then I told him that it was turkey. He was soooooo mad! I think he has in his mind that ground anything should be beef and he does not want ground turkey, etc. Although he will eat ground pork...hmmm...and I am not a good liar to trick him either.

Its a joke here now. Andrew tells him everything has turkey in it.

Here is where you are going wrong. We have a "don't ask don't tell" policy. He don't ask what it is and I don't tell him what he's eating. Marisa stopped eating red meat when she was 16 so I have been using ground turkey for years. He really did not like it but now he is just so hungry at dinnertime that he eats. Stop telling him what he ate, just feed the man and when he says it is good tell him you will make it anytime he wants.

:rotfl: I just realized what I said...gobble gobble!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I am so glad that this was not the story it looked like it was going to be. While it is a horrible occurrence it was not the crime that it seemed to be.

I have to make a meal tonight. We ate out after the service yesterday, I had been craving Gyros so I was one happy gal.

Can I tell you that I am married to one odd duck. Our Pastor insists on all of us singing, but when there are not many people there the music sounds like the never ending Hymn you can hear in Andy Griffith when the congregation sings verse after verse after verse. Anyway there had to be 6 or 7 verses to the Hymn that Father chose and after every on it sounded like the song was over. By the last one Buddy looks at am and says "What the H*****?????" He's in Church, he is whining that I have dragged him along, he is about to receive a Sacrament, and he is not singing like the Priest has asked and still he cannot seem to help himself . Then he tells me that he cannot think of a single thing that he has done wrong :confused3. I told him that he could think of at least one thing :rolleyes1

Kathy- have a good day and hopefully you will fond someone soon to replace your employee. Why such short notice? It seems to me that a longer notice would be appropriate in this circumstance. Pretty selfish on the surface to me.

Oh My goodness!!!!!!!! Well, it is better than brutality, but ouch!

Dh is going out with work so the kids and I will get to have whatever we want. I wonder if the chili I froze is still good. It is so windy and cold here!

Hi All! We are having that Pioneer Woman chicken and spaghetti dish with some type of vegetable...maybe salad or broccoli.

Lauren - At least you got Tom to each the curried sweet potatoes. My crew won't touch anything with curry. :confused3

It really does not have a strong curry taste...the first time I made it, I cut down the curry a bit. Yesterday I used the full amount.

Here's the Mini-Iron Chef at work again!

Adorable! How did you wind up making them?

I have some REALLY GOOD NEWS!!!

Glad all is OK...all I can say is OUCH! Common sense should have told her to tie her hair back, no?

That is my problem, I feel bad subbing turkey and I spill the beans all the time. Tom is the same way in church...he gets very ansy, starts talking, then gets mad when I tell him to be quiet. Men!

Let us know how it comes out...this is something I would like to make soon.

WFD- no cooking for me again tonight. Luke and I are having dinner at my parents. I have alot of time away from my kitchen this week. Sunday my parents are having a bunch of us for her traditional Corned Beef and cabbage dinner. DH is not looking forward to the menu, but I sure am. My mom makes the besh Irish bread.

So my sandwiches were good last night, but SUPER messy. I put avocado on them and it made everything slide around. I ended up chopping mine up and eating it like a salad! I could only eat half of it also, half a chicken breast is too much meat for me. I did not have time to upload the pics last night but will try and do it this evening.

Laura, your stew looks awesome! I know what I want for dinner this weekend...

I'm not sure wfd yet, because I am waiting to hear if John has to take a client out. I had planned lemongrass risotto and seared shrimp, with an arugula salad, but I am not making risotto just for me. If I am alone for dinner I will likely make some kind of pasta.

I finally have something to contribute! :teeth: Tonight's the dry run of the vegetarian Easter entree-broccoli, mozarella and penne pie. I made it last night, now I just need to cook it and see how it turns out.

Recipe please? :flower3:

I think I'm running through someplace fast food tonight. It's church night so I'll be in late and didn't plan a crockpot meal this week.

It's from the Vegetarian Times Cookbook-I make no promises as I haven't tried it yet-and I had some issues with the cooking.com pasta dish I made for Xmas.

Penne, Broccoli and Mozzarella Pie

6 SERVINGS

You can whip up this satisfying homemade alternative to take-out pizza with just a few staple ingredients. Smoked mozzarella is a delicious complement to the broccoli and pasta, but you can use regular mozzarella, Monterey Jack or cheddar--whatever you have on hand.

5 Tbs. Italian-style dry bread crumbs
3 tsp. olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
10-oz. pkg. frozen chopped broccoli
(3 cups)
6 oz. dry penne pasta (1 1/2 cups)
4 large eggs
3/4 cup 1% milk
1/2 to 1 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded smoked mozzarella
cheese (5 oz.)
1. Bring large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Preheat oven to 350 [degrees] F. Coat 9-inch (1 1/2-quart) deep-dish pie pan with cooking spray. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons bread crumbs, tilting to coat evenly.

2. In small bowl, mix together remaining 3 tablespoons bread crumbs and 1 teaspoon oil. Set aside.

3. In medium nonstick skillet, heat remaining 2 teaspoons oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring often, until tender and light golden, 4 to 5 minutes. Set aside.

4. Place broccoli in strainer and rinse under cold running water to thaw. Drain well and set aside.

5. Add pasta to boiling water; stir to prevent sticking. Cook, stirring often, until barely tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain, rinse under cold running water, then drain again. Set aside.

6. In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, hot sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Add cheese, reserved onion, broccoli and pasta; mix with rubber spatula. Pour into prepared pan, spreading evenly. Sprinkle evenly with reserved bread crumb mixture. (Pie can be prepared ahead to this point. Cover and refrigerate up to 2 days. Bring to room temperature before baking.)

7. Bake pie, uncovered, until top is lightly golden and filling is set, about 45 minutes. (Tip of knife inserted in center should come out clean.) Transfer to wire rack and cool slightly. Cut into wedges and serve hot.

PER SERVING: 384 CAL.; 27G PROT.; 18G TOTAL FAT (8G SAT, FAT); 28G CARB.; 242MG CHOL.; 435MG SOD.; 4G FIBER
I used regular mozarella, and plain breadcrumbs.

I didn't make all the clams I bought yesterday, so tonight will be linguine with clams after we get back from skating. Just plain pasta for the kids.

I am off to try to find a Wii this afternoon. Wish me luck!

Dinner tonight is chicken noodle soup and chicken sandwiches. It is on the stove now.
Laura- good luck :thumbsup2

Hedy- let us know how it turns out.

Ann- you know it is close to St Patrick's Day when the corned beef adn Irish soda bread appears. Yumm

I finally did something right. :rotfl: Brendan raved about the bbq pork chops last night. :goodvibes But then he complained when I said I was making chocolate chip cookies for dessert. That was his dad's fault. He said he was going to get sundaes from Baskin Robin's, but long story short, ended up not going. The cookies just didn't measure up to a BR sundae.

WFD? Spaghetti with meatballs and a salad.

I will certainly let you know how it is...I tasted it when I put it together this am and it was good then. I used chicken breast and cream of chicken soup...

Have a nice dinner. I LOVE a good St Patricks Day spread! I may try and make the Raglan Road bread with the guiness dipping sauce.

Looks good...thanks!

Good luck! You gotta let us know...

That reminds me of when my Mom made chicken soup...we always had it with chicken salad on saltines...yum!

Good Job on the dinner! We have a BR about 2 miles from us but I never had the ice cream until a couple months ago...big mistake. Every time I drive by I want some. The other ice cream places we like are at least 10 - 15 minutes away so they are not as tempting.

****************
Andrew came home sick today. He has a bad cough and runny nose. The nurse said she would keep him but I felt guilty...he never goes to the nurse.

That's my menu for Monday night! My kids love corned beef and cabbage! I always make it for St. Patrick's day along with Irish soda bread. I'm thinking about making colcannon this year, too. Yum! I can't wait!!!!!
