Then.....my DH tried to tell me that he had nothing to confess, since he married me all of his little issues really can be laid at my feet. So his answer was to try to get me to go for him!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl: I can only imagine what you served him for dinner that week!

Thanks for the encouraging words.

ETA: Sheryl -- I think your daughter's thanks is every parent's goal. Don't we all think at some point, "Someday you'll thank me for this..." ?

Sandy -- It sounds like you need a hug too! Liam isn't embarrassed by me yet, he just asks, "Why are you so mean all the time??" Then at other times, like the other night when I made them homemade ice cream, I was "the best mom in the whole world!" :confused3

I tried to find a Wii today, but every place I went was out of stock. I'll look again tomorrow, I guess.

Dinner plans have changed since my fish market had Nantucket bay scallops today. I am trying to figure out what to do with them. I also have littleneck clams and haddock, so I might do a seafood stew or some other mixed fish dish.

Good luck finding the Wii! pixiedust:

I'll be there in a few hours...if you have to eat, just keep mine warm! ;) Sounds really good! I wish DH like seafood. He thinks he's allergic to that too...:rotfl:

I'm good... It's just my cooking habits have changed for a while..DD became a vegetarian and DS isn't hungry a lot of the time with ADHD meds..I've gone from feeding 7 a year or so ago to feeding 3...I can't make as many big meals. Plus I was dieting for a while before the wedding so cooking became, not so fun

Jenny, Not cooking, is NO reason not to post here! We have quite a hard time staying OT!

Ed and I have been together for 14 years so that's probably why you thought that.

Congrats on the wedding! I too had assumed you were married. The pic of you looks beautiful!

I am sitting here having coffee & chickory that just came in the mail!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I made cafe au lait! Thanks for turning me on to this great stuff!

So glad, you're enjoying it!!! :goodvibes
I've been given some bad news from my one and only employee of 14 years, she's quitting and her last day is Friday!!! Nice, huh?

Well the bottom line is that I have to do both of our jobs until I find some help so I won't be around here quite as much. I could sure use some prayers, I'm too old for this to be happening to me.:sad1:

Kathy, As I said on the nola thread, that sucks! I know how you feel, these days I find any change just scary! I'll pray you find someone soon! It sounds like a perfect job for young Mom's! And with a great boss to boot!

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Laura, Don't we all say that out loud? I hope you find a Wii! Fresh bay scallops & clams sounds like a seafood stew/boullaibaisse would be awesome!!!

Nancy, Buddy's eating turkey meatballs without complaining? That man sure has gotten smart! ;)

Your dinner sounds sooo good!

If you're looking for a Wii, I've heard the best thing to do is call Game Stop (if you have one close by) and ask when they'll get their next shipment. We lucked out at Christmas time. My SIL just happened to be at Walmart when they got some in and knew we were looking for one.

Welcome back Jenny and Congrats!!!!

I've been given some bad news from my one and only employee of 14 years, she's quitting and her last day is Friday!!! Nice, huh?

UGH..sorry to hear that!! i hope you dont' stress too much and you get help soon!!!

mmmmmmmmmmmm seafood!!! YUM! I wish Greg was a seafood eater.i usually make some for myself on nights where he is at the firestation..but i would love to do a big ole' paella or something some day!

Kathy ~ That really stinks that your employee is leaving you high and dry. I thought it was customary to give at least two weeks notice. I don't know what she does, but if I was closer I'd come help you out.

Hi Jenny! Congratulations on your wedding!

Lauren, have you tried adding a little worcestershire sauce to your ground turkey? It might give it a beefier flavor. (Of course, I have not eaten red meat in about 20 years so I might be the wrong person to chime in here!)

I have just resorted to the fact that he will not eat it. I made meatloaf the last time...he gobbled it up like it was beef and then I told him that it was turkey. He was soooooo mad! I think he has in his mind that ground anything should be beef and he does not want ground turkey, etc. Although he will eat ground pork...hmmm...and I am not a good liar to trick him either.

Its a joke here now. Andrew tells him everything has turkey in it.

So happy to hear that all the kids are feeling better! As far as the bday, can you make Alan his favorite dinner and have cake on his bday and then plan a night out for after the holiday and bday rush? Maybe have a romantic dinner and see a play or movie or even get a sitter for overnight and spend a night at a hotel with a nice restaurant, pool, jacuzzi...

I like this idea. I think I'll run it by Alan when he gets home!

Glynis -- What is a ripstick?? :confused3 From your comments, maybe I should be glad I have never heard of it!

A ripstick is a skateboard that is split horizontally in the middle. Each half can be moved. So, you put a foot on each side, and move the skateboard by moving the sides in opposition. They look really cool, but I've seen some really nasty accidents that they've caused!

If you could spare some prayers for my DH, Alan right now, I'd be grateful! He just called to tell me that the tv station is sending him to a town about 5 hours south of us. A girl was found scalped in a parking lot, and at this point, they don't have anyone in custody. I hate it when he's on these kinds of stories. They play havoc with him, and with me! I know I won't sleep a wink until he gets home! Thanks!

Prayers said Glynis. What is happening with all this brutality lately? Its just sad.

Thanks, Lauren and Sheryl. I've just had some Mean Mom episodes with Liam lately...like when I made him go to school when he said he felt like he was going to throw up -- total fabrication -- but he was crying on the way out the door and then there was the showing up late for dinner and well, the list just goes on and on in his mind I am sure. He's just at that age. Of course, if I get him the Wii, I will be the Mean Mom who doesn't let him play it every waking hour.

Sheryl -- Caili may just want a plate, but Beck informed me it is a $200 plate. :scared1:

I agree with everyone here, You are not a bad Mom. When Alex says that I'm mean I just say good that means I'm doing my job. It does kill me a little bit though.

I also dislike hearing about these crimes. I hope they find that person and put him/her away for a very long time.

It just me for dinner tonight so I'm having leftover Italian sausage and sweet potato fries.

I am having grilled chicken and my husband and kids are having steak on the grill.

How terrible!

My nephew rocks at his - I'm always very impressed.

Not cool - you'd think after 14 years that she'd give more time!

I am going to use a maple plank to do the tilapia, and do some sauce or something to put over it I guess? That link has quite a few suggestions. I'm not sure how strong the maple flavor will be so I want a backup sauce =)

Sounds scary! At least kids now have the common sense (or the parents nagging them) to wear helmets and some pads. We never wore helmets for anything when I was a kid.

ETA: Glynis, that is just terrible. I hope Alan is okay.

Jenny -- Congratulations on your wedding. The pictures are beautiful. It's nice to see you back here. :)

Kathy -- That really stinks. Someone works for you for 14 years and doesn't even give two weeks notice? :confused3 I hope you find a replacement quickly.

Thanks, Lauren! I laughed about Andrew saying everything has turkey in it. Maybe you should start sneaking seafood in too? I hope you aren't on your way because I actually ate every bite of my dinner tonight. ;) It was really yummy. Here's a pic:

I would be happy to make it again if you ever do decide to come this way.

You couldn't leave a tiny morsel for me??? ;) Looks great!

I did finally get Tom to try a piece of filet that I broiled not too long ago and he hated it...the only think he will eat is shrimp cocktail...that is it. Not even shrimp another way. :confused3 What a PITA!

He did declare the curried sweet potatoes that we had tonight his favorite. :) They really are good! Thanks for that recipe.

Glynis - Prayers for your husband. What a horrible story!

Kathy - I'm so sorry girlfriend. I hope you find someone wonderful very soon.

Laura - Good luck on finding the Wii. Sandy's advice is excellent, that's how I got mine. I found out what time the UPS driver made his delivery and I was there waiting. The employee told me they come in around 10 and are normally all sold by lunchtime. It really is fun to play, and I am not really a video game person.

Lauren - At least you got Tom to each the curried sweet potatoes. My crew won't touch anything with curry. :confused3

Lindsay - Sorry I didn't see your post this morning. I normally let the dish come to room temperature (or as close as time will allow) and warm it at 350.

Sorry I have forgotten so many of you.

We ended up grilling the tilapia on a maple plank. I put a glaze over it, too - I just threw some stuff into a bowl. It worked.

I also grilled asparagus and made stuffing to go with it. It was yummy, and maybe healthy?
