Tonight we are having leftover chicken Parmesan soup and Parmesan pepper French bread. If anyone wants the recipe, I will post it.

WFD at your house?

ETA: We made it through yesterday. All around us got damage but thankfully we didn't.

Talk about "whew."

Lindsay Please post the recipe it sounds good. Lindsay glad to hear you are ok.

Kathy let us know if you hear from your friend.

Today is Chinese New year go ahead and guess our menu! :rotfl:

WHAT NO PICTURES???? ;) You must realize how much you sound like us NOLA girls? Gotta add some spice to any recipe!!! :goodvibes YOU MAKE US PROUD!!:thumbsup2

That's cause I am a NOLA girl - born and raised! Gotta have my spice! :rotfl:

Hmmm....;)

Here is a picture of the panini from last night, they are similar to ones I have made in the past:

Tonight I am making a comforting chicken stew, with carrots, onions, and mushrooms. It has a white wine-cream-tarragon sauce, and I am going to serve it over buttery egg noodles. More comfort food for DH's cold.

My dear dear sweet husband just came home to bring me tuna sashimi (my fav)& crunch rolls for lunch! He took his guys out for lunch, but placed an extra order to bring home for me! Wasn't that sweet of him! :lovestruc Dropped it off & went right back to work. Makes me remember why I married that guy, thirty-something years ago! :goodvibes

Wow, that was really nice! Like Sandy, I think I'd faint if my DH did that for me.

Hey guys. Well, I thought I was getting better today, but as luck would have it, I'm now worse off than yesterday. I've only managed one small meal since lunch on Monday. Luckily, DS is back to his wild and crazy self. Guess DH is in charge of dinner again tonight.

Stephanie, I hope you are feeling better today.

I am so not going driving we are having quite a snow fall. Lot's of heavy wet snow. The news is anouncing some large malls by me are closing early. I don't remember that happening in the last 20 years or so.

I've heard you have had the worst winter in recent history. It must be bad if the malls are closing. Keep warm and take care.

Nancy, just tell him it's a conspiracy against him. We're all in on it and the government subsidizes it... that's why you can afford to give him all those tasty sammies!:dance3:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I decided that I was not finishing dinner. I had some stupid things happen today and not in the mood to cook...more like curl up under the blankets and feel sorry for myself. T is bringing home chinese.

Like I said they were stupid...went to sear the pot roast in the new creuset pot and it started to burn. Took me over an hour to clean it. And then, my dear Andrew does not clean up after himself and my poor puppy Riley got a hold of silly putty and opened the darn egg and got the putty all stuck in his paws! :scared1:

Needless to say, A is on my poopy list. It took my almost and hour to cut the hair and pick out the putty from my poor baby's blue paws.

I haven't even showered today...sorry to be gross but the plumber was here for the gas line...and found a problem with the base board! Then we had ADT security here to give us a quote and he was here 2 hours. And now my back is bothing me.

I need a drink and maybe the hot tub but its raining!

That would be enough to have me give up on dinner too! I hope the drink worked.

I never posted wfd. Well, DH has joined the ranks of the sick ones. So, I am just making some panini and we are going to curl up on the couch and watch some Entourage.

I hope he gets to feeling better soon. In my house, a sick DH is worse than a sick child.

Well Kyle surprised me with the fact that three of his buddies were staying for dinner. Instead of doing the sane thing - order pizza - NOOOOO I decided to be supermom and cook enough for 4 teens and us.:faint: I'm exhausted.

You really were supermom. I didn't think it was possible to feed that many teenagers. Especially the boys.

Well, I'm off to the doctor this morning. I'm hoping it isn't the flu.

Talk to you all later.

WFD- tonight is going to be Italian, penne & sauce, hot & sweet Italian sausage, and roasted red peppers. Don't forget the bread!

Happy Thursday everyone!
Mrs. Disney Ron

Becky, that panini and the shrimp from the other day look awesome! Hope hubby starts feeling better.

Gretchen, good luck at the doctor...let us know how you make out.

My dear dear sweet husband just came home to bring me tuna sashimi (my fav)& crunch rolls for lunch!

What a great guy!

None of this is stupid my friend. Things just seem to be magnified when it all happens in one day. Sorry I wasn't here for you earlier, please call from now on. I know I said I'd call you last time we talked on the phone but things just get crazy and I'm old, so I forget. Darn it girl, call next time......;)

I'm also very upset, a friend of mine from the other discussion forum I chat on (non-smokers) hasn't checked in since yesterday. She lives in Southaven, MS where the tornadoes struck.:sad1:

Thanks Kat! I will call...I didn't have a drink but chocolate seemed to do the trick!

Keep ups posted on your friend...

Tonight is the pot roast, mashed taters, red cabbage and carrots we were supposed to have yesterday.

The plumber was salivating over the roast while I was cooking it yesterday so hopefully it will be good today. I think I'll just slice it up and heat it in the gravy.

Have a good day!

So I have to get my butt in gear & cook that man a nice dinner! So I can rule out chinese/japanese. Some kind of curry I think.

Awwww:love: Sometimes they can surprise us, can't they? Makes me remember when I was pregnant with my first child. I was so sick, I couldn't eat anything at all!!! Alan would come home to make me dinner, sometimes he would make 5 or 6 things hoping one would tempt me!

Kathy let us know if you hear from your friend.

Finally heard from her early this morning. Her entire area is without power but she is safe.

Gretchen - Good luck at the Dr. Please let us know.

Lauren - I thought for a minute there you were going to say you fed the plumber.:rotfl2:

WFD - DS request - Saucy Steak in a Bag, Yellow Rice and Baby Carrots.

Hope the sickies are feeling just the teensey-ist bit better.

Dinner is leftovers from the open house yesterday. We leave for Vail on Friday and need to clean out the fridge. Glynis? You wanna come up and keep me company? It's a work thing for Rick- I need someone to hang out with!

Man! If Vail were closer to me I'd be there in a heartbeat!! Thanks for the invite! I'll think about you, wishing I was there! Next time, tell Rick he needs to do all "work things" at Alta, or Snowbird! Those I could make and we could have some yummy food while he does all the work!

Sounds like yesterday was just not your day! Let's hope that today is better, ok? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I remember when my DD went to sleep with silly putty in the pocket of her flannel nightgown. By the morning, it was so deeply entrenched in the material I was positive there would be no way to get it out! Since then, I've banned silly putty!

Yes, I want the recipe, pretty please!!!

I'm so glad that you are ok. You were in my prayers all day yesterday. Stay safe, please! I don't know what we'd do without you!!!

What a guy! I am jealous, my friend, mine would eat and there would not even be leftovers :rotfl:

Yes he does bring me fried green tomatoes but that's his dinner too, so it doesn't count.:lmao:

Bob will be a happy man tonight.:goodvibes

It counts in my book. My DH has forgotten how to get to the grinder shop, he sends Marisa on food finding missions if I am not cooking :upsidedow

I decided that I was not finishing dinner.

You did have a bad day  Don't worry over it, as Kathy said it's all worse when the entire day has mishaps.

Well, I'm off to the doctor this morning. I'm hoping it isn't the flu.

Talk to you all later.

Take care, my friend!

Janice- Stay in and stay safe!

Lindsay- Thank God you are alright. I talked to a friend in TN yesterday and he said it was one frightening night! Buddy's cousins are in the hills so they were okay.

Becky- Hope your hubby is feeling better soon!

Well my pies came out really good. I thought that I added a little too much potato but my Aunt and Buddy's aunt both said that they were right, and they should know.

Tonight is chicken stew/soup that I made Tuesday. I have to go to my Aunts this evening and DD has a long appt at the dentist so it make no sense to have too much that no one is home to eat.

Yesterday was such a crazy day!!! I hate days like that! I spent the morning working on costumes for the school play (have I mentioned that I HATE sewing), worked at the school book fair from 11:30-2:30, took my twins to lunch at Wendy's and then back to school for their teacher conferences, made it home in time to help make 2 100 days of school posters for them, worked some more on costumes (I really hate sewing), took Katie and Jacob back to school for their conferences, and made it home for dinner by 7:30. I was too tired to do anything, so we had garlic bread pizza from a box! It was good, and the kids ate it, so I'm a happy mom!

Today is much less crazy. Still have one costume to finish (I'm never doing this again, by the way), but other than that, I'm done!

Dinner tonight will be the mexican stuffed shells! I can't wait.

We are getting another snow storm, so I'm hoping that it will be our last (yeah, right!). Stay safe and warm, everyone!

I'm glad the pies came out good. I think old family recipes never come out quite like we remember because the old versions are wrapped up in all the happy memories. Do you know what I mean?

Anyway, I'm obviously back from the dr. I don't have the flu thank heavens, but I have a bad (his words) case of bronchitis. I have a sore throat too, but he said there was no reason to swab for strep because he was planning to prescribe an antibiotic for the bronchitis anyway. He said I should start to feel human sometime this weekend and better by next Wednesday or so.

I have no idea what is for dinner. I'm thinking takeout. Or grits.

Oh Dear Gretchen...next Wed you should start feeling better??? :scared1: I hope its way sooner than that...try and take it easy. I wish i was closer to help you out.

Finally heard from her early this morning. Her entire area is without power but she is safe.

I am glad that your friend is OK.

I try and feed all these guys but I think the plumber lives on cigarettes and DD coffee and the electricians never eat or drink a think while they are here. Guess they just want to get done and out of here.

You always amaze me and keepcoming up with new recipes. I would like the recipe for the steak too. :)

Well, today is OK BUT I was trying to get out of the house this morning and pulled some kind of muscle in my leg that traveled up my back and was in pain for a good 1/2 hour...crying pain. It is still a bit sore but will be OK.

We have banned silly putty as well...I have no idea whereAndrew got it from....must've dug it out of that black hole in the bottom of the toy box!

Good Gosh Glynis, you had a nutty day yesterday...I need a nap just reading about it!

Dinner tonight will be the mexican stuffed shells! I can't wait.

Is this your first time making them? I hope you enjoy...:goodvibes

And I'd love the Saucy steak recipe when you get time.

I'm glad it's not the flu, but bronchitis is pretty bad and if you have a "bad" case of it, you need to take your meds and get plenty of rest.

Here ya go:

Saucy Beef

1 large size oven cooking bag
2 Tbsp. flour
1 can (14 1/2 oz) stewed tomatoes
1 envelope onion soup mix
1/2 c. water (I use a red wine)
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 lb. beef sirloin steak, cut into thin strips

Preheat oven to 350. Shake flour in oven bag and place in a 13x9 inch baking pan. Combine stewed tomatoes, soup mix, water and pepper in a mixing bowl. Put beef strips into bag and add the tomato mixture. Close bag and be sure and cut some slits in it. Bake until beef is tender about 1 1/2 hrs.

That is really sweet! And BTW, I hope you the snow today is your last for this season.

Thanks for the good wishes!

I'm so sorry about the bronchitis! Take care of yourself!!! I hope the antibiotic really starts to work quickly for you!

Takeout sounds great to me!!! I forgot it was Chinese New Year. Perhaps I'll do the stuffed shells tomorrow, and grab some Chinese somewhere!

Ok, I'm thinking you and I need to get together and SOON!!! The way our days just keep getting crazier and crazier, we need to be able to pick each other up and go somewhere for chocolate!!! In large quantities!!!

Sorry about your leg. I hope it feels better soon!
