My DH is working a double shift today again, so no cooking for me!
DS & I will be eating at my parents... I am sure it will be fish.

Have a great day everyone, happy cooking!

Tonight I am making another meal from Rachael Ray's new cookbook. It's chicken parmesan soup. We will have salad and French bread to go with it. I'm thinking about making Parmesan pepper bread with the loaf. If it's good I will post the recipe.

WFD at your house?

ETA:Keep praying for us TN folk. The bad weather is not over yet.

Lindsay I hope you stay safe. I was up watching the news and saw the storm damage. I hope the daylight brings calm.

But I can relate to how your DH could care for sick cows and not sick kids. My brother is a licensed embalmer (doesn't do it anymore). He has done, well almost everything you can imagine. However, changing a baby's diaper makes him gag. Seriously. Explain that one to me.

:lmao: :lmao: Oh Nancy. I'm sitting here at my computer with tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. Thank you for making my evening.

The official word is that A & P have the stomach virus, but A also has bronchitis. Right now, it appears that H only has a bad cold. I'll have to watch her to make sure it doesn't turn into something worse, but she's holding on right now. After the huge wad of cash I just spent at the pharmacy, I hope all three are soon going to be on the mend.

After the day you had I'm happy that you laughed. I have no answer for your brother, I have stopped trying to figure out my DH thought processes, they make my head hurt.
Right now he is trying to figure out why my cats sabotage him. They all have tummy troubles so sometimes they get sick. They always manage this around him, under him, over him or a few times on him. This morning was no exception so he was out in the rain cleaning his boot. This drama will fester all morning, every time he looks down at his feet :lmao::lmao:, he will come home and they all will run over to greet him, (except mine, she hates him) sit and look pathetic or cry until he calls them up on him and then within an hour one will cough or sneeze and he will be all grossed out again :confused3 and wonder why we spend so much trying to keep them alive when it is clear that they also live to confuse him ;)

I'll be thinking about your little ones today, hope that the meds kick in fast!

Actually DH did get the propane yesterday so we had the hamburgers and I grilled the chicken for the fajitas. I grill a lot. DH lost his grill privileges after he burned one too many expensive steaks. He has the attention span of a gnat. :lmao:

Lindsay- I have been so worried about you all down there. Please keep us posted

Today I am going to try to make a salmon pie the way my Aunt used to make them. She made them every Ash Wednesday for as long as I can remember so I want to try one for her. She was able to remember what she used and I went to Recipezaar to find some French Canadian recipes there so that I have more to go on. My family won't touch it so I think we will have pizza for Kady and grilled cheese and tuna for the others.

Lindsay, I'll pray for all of you. Was just wondering about you while watching th e news.

As usual, I will be back to catch up...we are having Mom's Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, carrots and red cabbage.

Gretchen, hope the kids are feeling better today. I am keeping A home again.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone!

Lindsay - Keeping you guys in my prayers until this horrible weather subsides.

I hope everyone with sick kiddos & hubbies have a better day today and everyone starts feeling better.:grouphug:

Nancy - I'll be hoping Buddy won't look at his feet too many times today.

WFD - Baby Back Ribs, Baked Beans and Mac & Cheese.

Just popiing in quick with a photo of last night's dinner. This is DH's fried rice, with beef, pork, shrimp, and chicken. Mine only had shrimp and chicken. To the right are blasted bok choy with teriyaki-marinated crushed tofu, and behind that are some of the leftover potstickers from my super bowl party.

Not sure wfd yet, I'll be back later to let you know! :)

Lindsay - Hope the worst of the weather there is over. Thought about you when I read the awful tornado reports this morning. Lots of wind through here about 3am. It always sounds so much worse at that time! I was awake worrying about tornadoes when I could hear a train coming through on its normal route. DH mumbled half asleep something about was that a real train - not a tornado? Um, yeah honey, I don't think when people say tornadoes sound like trains they mean one blowing its whistle at all the railroad crossings! Go back to sleep, dear!

WFD - Was supposed to be Glynis's Lime Chicken Nachos, but then I remembered it's Ash Wednesday. So the Nachos are on hold 'til later in the week or next week, and WFD will probably be grilled cheese & tomato basil soup.

Lindsay - another question.....did you follow RR's Chicken Fajita / Tortilla soup recipe exactly or did you tweak it any? That's another one I have bookmarked and was curious if it could use some improvement.

The only thing I changed was I added tomato sauce instead of the fire-roasted tomatoes (don't like chunky tomatoes, UGH!). The rest was the same. It was really good.

But the recipe says to cook it in a skillet. I don't get that. You are adding a quart of stock to it, use a soup pot!!

Hey ladies, I'm still around. But DS and I have come down with the bug this week. I saw the dr. yesterday and he was 99% sure it was the flu, but then the flu test came back negative. So we have what he termed "non specific viral illness" Which translates into, don't know what the heck you have and we can't give you any drugs for it. Ugh! So, no outstanding cooking from me. DH made pizza Monday night, and picked up Wendy's last night. Tonight is still up in the air, as I still feel like crud. At least we were spared the really bad weather here last night. We did have a bad thunderstorm, but the tornadoes were a ways away.

Stephanie-I am terrible when it comes to geography so I was concerned when the news said it was heading to Arkansas. The weather guy this morning said the storm is on it's way to SO LA so I hope everyone is safe. Now you get some rest and get better.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: My DH normally has the same issue, but when it comes to his dinner, he is quite attentive. I told him just last night the most attention he pays to anything I say is "dinner's ready". I can yell across the room almost anything else and not get a response if he's watching TV. But I can whisper "dinner's ready" and he'll jump up from that couch so fast it'll make your head spin.

My favorite. A home cooked meal not cooked in my home. :thumbsup2

I haven't had time to even watch the news this week so I had no idea. I'm glad you are ok and I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

If your cats are like mine, they are confusing him on purpose. That's their job. If he wants predictable, tell him to get a dog.

I hope your salmon pie turns out like you remember. Isn't it amazing how many wonderful memories we have that are tied to family recipes?

As usual, I will be back to catch up...we are having Mom's Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, carrots and red cabbage.

Gretchen, hope the kids are feeling better today. I am keeping A home again.

I don't blame you. With the wind and the cold, it can't be good for his ear infection to be out and about. We sent the boy to school today. The youngest is with her mother and hopefully she will remember to give her the medicine this time (unlike the last 3 diseases). :sad2: My little one is having a reduced therapy schedule today with instructions to the girls not to push.

Good morning everyone!

Nancy - I'll be hoping Buddy won't look at his feet too many times today.

 Bless his heart. I think I hear tornados all the time at night only to realize it is my DH snoring.

As I posted above, we have a mixed result on the kiddos' wellness. Not saying it was the healing power of a promised Krispy Kreme this morning for breakfast, but it sure didn't hurt any. I figured if they could hold down last night's dinner, they could manage a KK.

I'm not really sure what we're having tonight for dinner. I'm craving a baked pasta of some kind. Italian sausage type, not ground beef. I'm not sure the kids can handle that, so I just don't know.

Stephanie, I'm so very sorry you and your son are sick. I hope you both get to feeling better soon.

My Aunt tried so hard to remember how she made that darn pie. I told her that I wished that I had paid attention when she made them. She laughed and told me I was too busy eating those pies ;)

It's yucky and rainy here as well, but I don't think kids care when they are off to school.too busy looking for puddles to jump in.

Your kids respond well to KK's :thumbsup2 Honestly...I would do just about anything for one of those right now. Hope that the little Princess doesn't go to hard today so that she gets well.

:rotfl: Between this, Sandy's gnat comment and Nancy's Buddy stories, I have had a lot of laughs this morning. I am glad the children are starting to feel better.

Stephanie -- Sorry you and your son aren't feeling well. At least it isn't the flu. That hangs around for a long time. Take it easy and get better soon!

Has the wild weather stopped? I haven't heard a forecast. I hope everyone is staying safe.

It is rainy here. We are having baked cod, sauteed spinach and some kind of starch, but I'm not sure what yet. We have skating this afternoon, so it will have to be something quick.

Glynis- the lime chicken nachos were a hit! Kady especially liked them, more like party food than a meal to her so she was in her glory. Party Pooper DH pied his in a bowl, topped it with cole slaw and Worcester and ate it that way. I forgot..............Mexican food does not look like food :confused3. Wait until tomorrow when Lent begins and I try to give him breakfast for dinner.........he won't know to do :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you enjoyed them! My kids love them, too! You're right, it's like a party!

Sorry Buddy didn't enjoy them as well. Next time, slap some between some bread and offer it up that way!:rotfl:

You are definitely in my prayers! If you need a safe haven you are welcome here (of course, you may have to tunnel through the snow to find us). Stay safe, please!

We are in between storms today. We did have a bit of snow yesterday, but it didn't last too long (thank heaven). For today and tomorrow we are looking at gray, and stormy off and on. Which means that the weathermen really have no idea what's going to happen, so they're not going to commit to anything.

I have parent teacher conferences this evening until 7:00, so I'm not too sure what we'll have for dinner. I wanted to make Kathy's Mexican shells, but not sure if I'll get to them or not. We may end up just having leftover soup and sandwiches tonight.

Mexican shells will either be tonight or tomorrow night.

Stay safe and warm everyone!
