Hello everyone! I too am new to your board. It is raining hard here and my daughter is home sick so I didn't get to run to the store today.I was reading all the yummy recipes here but I think I am just going to make some taco mac and cheese.I was gonna make tacos but I have no shells in the house and I saw this recipe on the back of a mac and cheese box.Basically you make the meat like you would to make tacos and make the mac and cheese then you add more shredded cheese to it and top with some salsa and crushed tortilla chips.I'll give it a shot.My daughter just asked me if she could take a nap-has any mother in there right mind ever said no to that question?!!!!!:rotfl:

Tonight, I'm taking my friends out to dinner for their birthdays. We will have Mexican and margharitas with churros for dessert. Yum!!! The men in my family will probably open a can of soup. They are cleaning tonight while I go out. Gotta love that!!!!!

Now that's a good evening! The men cleaning & the girls drinking margaritas! Have Fun!

Afternoon all----we are in for some pretty nasty weather around these parts as well........It is going to be snow/sleet starting in the next 1/2 hr that will change over to freezing rain into the morning hours......I HATE freezing rain......after our ice storm 10 yrs ago, I am leary of the ice....snow, now that is easy to deal with and for the most part drive in as it is in our blood.
The grocery store was a mad house this morning (I had to get some dogfood) between it being the 1st of the month, a storm coming and superbowl weekend.....:scared1:
The kids were sent home from school at noontime.

Wendie, that weather sounds horrendous! Glad you got the shopping done earlier! Please take care of yourself.

I am now in hockey research mode. As mentioned earlier, A is going to the Devils/Ranger game and we know nothing about hockey. Can anyone help? He is even going on a stadium tour and sitting in owner seats...:scared1: :)

Sheryl, Love the pics...love the iron chef! I wish I knew how to download pics...I have one of my chix and dumplings. I guess I'll have to bribe Tommy John to help me! ;)

Boy, How A score those tickets! Sounds like THE way to see a hockey game! We lost the minor league hockey team we had here for a while. But I loved it! You don't need to know much about hockey to enjoy it. They hit the puck, they fight, they hit the puck, everybody cheers & sings fun songs, they fight! :rotfl:

Your DD must be sick if she asked to take a nap?! You're so right, not a Mom around would say no to that question! Good luck with the taco mac & cheese! That will be a sick child pleaser for sure!

Finally got Kyle's Casual Senior Pics, don't know why but my scanner doesn't produce quality pics:

Dang, girl! He's one terrific cutie!!! Want to ship him out here? I've got several darling nieces that are looking for a sweet, sensitive, ambitious young man! I promise we'll appreciate him!

Just kidding, but seriously, he's darling! He's going to be just fine!

Kathy What nice pictures of Kyle. :cool1:

No snow day for me we did get around a foot of snow at least. Roads were crappy this morning hopefully this afternoon it will be better. Alex already had no school today.

Ok I have to share I was just reading in the paper how Mr Depp might be filming in a town near me. If that happens I'll be there trying to catch a glimpse.

Did I ever tell you my Johnny Depp story? While he was filming POTC3, they filmed portions of it at the Bonneville salt flats. That's about 45 minutes away from my house. My husband works for a local news affiliate and was sent to the set to interview people, etc. He called me WHEN HE WAS ALL DONE to let me know that he'd been out there. I was so ANGRY!!! He knew that if he called me beforehand, I'd have dropped everything and driven to the flats! Mean man!!!

That taco mac and cheese sounds good to me!

I wish my brood would take a nap! They are home from school today and driving me crazy!

Well, we survived yesterday evening with the nieces and nephews. 2 more days and then they'll leave!!! They all stayed up really late last night, so I'm thinking that naps are going to be in order this afternoon.

Dinner tonight will be tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm going to use sharp cheddar and granny smith apples on the sandwiches.

I'm so glad you've survived one night and are still sane enough to talk about it.;) Thanks for the kind words about my boy.:goodvibes

Shortbun-I am on board with Sheryl, girls dinner out and margaritas, boy canned soup and cleaning :lmao::lmao:. You have done something very right in your life :thumbsup2

Poohdrmr- can you let us know how the tacomac is? And lucky you that your DD is a sleepy beauty!

Glynis- One down :thumbsup2 I cannot believe your DH was so cruel.....Johnny Depp and no call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How's your freezer space?

My sauce with meatballs and sausage is heating and DD picked up Italian bread so I guess we will have dinner tonight.

Tonight it is chili, (toppings of cheese, sour cream and black olives) and corn bread muffins.

OK - don't laugh......

I am cheating cause I'm using a jar of Tabasco 7-spicy chili. It's delish - tastes like home made. You just have to brown some ground meat and add drained beans if desired. You also add 3/4 cup water, tomato juice or beer - I went with the beer. Super easy and good. I used the spicy version and it is very spicy, just like we like it!

Freezer space was limited at the time, which is why Alan is still amongst us today! I've learned, though, to keep some room. And he's learned not to mess with my crushes!

Did I mention that he just bought me tickets to see Gone With the Wind in London? The reason? Hugh Jackman (my number 1 grown up crush) is playing Rhett Butler. So, I get to see Hugh, my husband won't be there to interfere, and that's my anniversary present. Guess he can be taught, huh?

I'm now asking for some major PD for my niece, Lydia. She is 17 years old and pregnant. She and her boyfriend realize that marriage would be terrible for both of them. They made the decision to place the baby up for adoption, but his parents are trying to talk them out of it. They don't want to raise the baby, they want Lydia and Brandon to get married and keep the baby. We are all praying that the parents will just stay out of it so the baby can go to a home where she will be loved, wanted and treated well. Any prayers and pixie dust you can send our way would be appreciated!

No laughing here, that stuff is awesome!:thumbsup2

Major PD coming your way. We're going through a similar situation with stepson (the one that's allergic to work) only this will be baby #3. They lost one to SIDS. They have a 4 yr old and a 9 month old that they can't feed and care for properly and now another one coming.:sad2:

Thanks y'all, for the nice comments about the cute Mini chef & the pizzas. :goodvibes Even nice words about the monster alien calzone!

Lauren, If I can figure out the pic download stuff, I know you can too. I like photobucket, it's pretty easy. The key for me with all computers & electronics is I have to do it often enough to be able to remember how. I got the picture thing down, now if only I could learn to work the new tv & dvd recorder! :scared:

Hersey, I'd be right with you, hiding in a snow drift to catch a look at my fav hottie, uh, actor. ;)

Glynis, I'm with Nancy on that one! He called you AFTER???? Your freezer must have been really full!

How about the pork tenderloin recipe that was just posted, with the pesto sauce!

I'm saving that recipe for next week, because I got a big thumbs-down on pesto from the FIL. Really, who doesn't like pesto? :confused3

How about hamburger steaks with smothered onions in brown gravy? I think a recipe was posted in the past few days on that.

:thumbsup2 Perfect!

I've never seen that tabasco mix before. Ah, maybe I will cook for the superbowl after all!

Glynis, that is too funny! He definitely has made amends with those tickets! My goodness that will be so fun.

I meant for the quote about your niece to be here, but it didn't show. You have my prayers with you on this one for sure. I can sympathize we just went through this in our family. I don't know if I mentioned it here but our 15year old niece just had a baby a few (3) months ago. She kept the baby & things are not good at all. I really hope his parents wise up quickly. :flower3:

OK, I am lost so I figured I would at least respond to the current page. Isn't that a good plan? ;) I am having a glass of wine so forgive me if I sould loopy!

Glynis, Prayers for your neice and for your family to make the right decision.

Kat, I'm always praying for you. Hopefully your step son and his gfriend will sooner or later learn to be more responsible.

Sheryl and Kathy, Thanks for the hockey info...only after I did some research did I remember that my darling husband played hockey when he was younger so he gave me some tips for A.

Yummy! Gotta look for that stuff!

Well, we survived yesterday evening with the nieces and nephews. 2 more days and then they'll leave!!!

Way to go!

I just got my guys into chili mac and this sounds very similar. We just use plain elbows though...gotta try it this way. Now, the nap...did it happen? What did you do with your free time? Does a mother ever have free time...BTW, I am typing while I am doing dishes, cleaning toilets, ...just kidding.

My sauce with meatballs and sausage is heating and DD picked up Italian bread so I guess we will have dinner tonight.

The wine is making me want take out...I guess I should throw something together right?

Freezer space was limited at the time, which is why Alan is still amongst us today! I've learned, though, to keep some room. And he's learned not to mess with my crushes!

Did I mention that he just bought me tickets to see Gone With the Wind in London? The reason? Hugh Jackman (my number 1 grown up crush) is playing Rhett Butler. So, I get to see Hugh, my husband won't be there to interfere, and that's my anniversary present. Guess he can be taught, huh?

The freezer! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

GWTW? How fun!

I got the picture thing down, now if only I could learn to work the new tv & dvd recorder! :scared:

The photobucket is easy for me...I can't figure out how to get the pic from the camera to the computer...my husband has wires upon wires all over the freakin place. Oh, I just learned how to turn the TV on...we have remote upon remote too!

I'm saving that recipe for next week, because I got a big thumbs-down on pesto from the FIL. Really, who doesn't like pesto? :confused3

My husband thinks he's allergic to basil. What kind of Italian is he? I put tons in my gravy and he loves it. Allergic my butt! ;)

I've never seen that tabasco mix before. Ah, maybe I will cook for the superbowl after all!

It is a winner! I think you'll like it. Again, the spicy version is VERY spicy!

Also, it calls for 1 lb of ground meat but I only put in 1/2 pound and did put the beans in. It is perfect that way. I think more meat would be way too much.

Wrong....do take-out.:lmao:

I think I am going to slave at the stove this evening. We wound up going out to the diner last night...they send us $10 off every time we spend $100 so I had a coupon to use and I think we are going out tomorrow so I really need to watch the spending... Gotta make up for that very expensive pot I just bought. Dang!

I babbling now!

ETA: By slaving I mean, making potatoes out of a box, heating ham steaks and microwaving frozen corn...wink!
