I posted my meat loaf recipe above...:)

Lauren- you drove into the store??????? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yup, only me...I drove into one of those big decorative flower pots once too. That was in my hometown...I was driving, talking and not paying attention (I do remember what I was doing and talking about but you guys might thing differently of me if I tell) and the next thing you know, I am up the curb, missed a building and the flower pot stopped my car.

I have had man accidents in my younger days...all minor thank God. I could write a book of all the stupid things that I have done and been through and it would be a best seller. :)

The fondue pot I bought is still on sale. It is really nice for $30. When we used it last week, we only used the pot and base and heated it with a votive and it was wonderful. The other stuff would be good for having company over.

I am constantly checking Amazon now for "today's deals" and I missed a 5pc Le Creuset set. I think I really want the 5 quart pot though. Anybody have one? Like it?

Tonight's dinner will be fast food for me - I have a retreat and will pick something up on my way to the campsite. Mom is making plans with her family and she'll be gone before I get back home tomorrow and DH is going to eat leftovers.

I have a bunch of le cruset and I LOVE it! I have the 5 quart, 8 quart, and 12 quart (I think) dutch ovens, a wide, shallow pan with curved sides and a lid that I use for making risotto and roasting chickens, 2 smaller lidded saucepans with handles--I think they are 1 quart and three quart, but I would have to check. I also have a small frying pan and a morrocan tangine. Plus a tea kettle! I use it all constantly. It's extremely durable, holds heat better than any other cookware I've had, and cleans up easily. The only drawback is that it is very heavy!

Hi! Kathy (tigerkat) posted a recipe for meatloaf from Martha Stewart not too long ago...

I also have my tried and true recipe...easy too. I will post it in a little while...is that OK?

Lindsay, I am sure all will be fine...Prayer said.

This is the recipe that my family likes the best.

.
Lauren, That recipe sounds just like the one my sisIL made this week & was telling me how wonderful it was. Alexis who hardly ever eats meat, ate a whole hamburger steak & told me "Nana, it was even better than noodles!"

Hey - just wanted to give a shout out for the "clearance meat section" at the grocery store. I rarely look through it. I had set my eye on hamburgers for last night. But there were 2 packages of lamb chops with a 30% off sticker! Lamb chops are Mom's favorite, so I couldn't resist! Better yet, as I was checking out, the clerk couldn't get the 30% sticker off and thought she could take it off after the fact. She had to call the manager over and he didn't want to figure out 30%, so he gave me 50% off!

Ma was please - I haven't seen that 91 year-old woman eat that much meat in a long time!

**Disclaimer: "clearance" meat should be eaten the day you buy it!****

That's great! Really nice that your Ma enjoyed it so much! How did you cook them?

I agree with you Sheryl. We are meeting new folks so this is a good thing. I hope we get the other one back long enough fro me to get more recipes into my file. I made the mistake of rereading the thread when I started it the last time. Now you know why I have time management issues.....I am easily distracted from my original mission :confused3

Your lamb quote reminds me of my sister. My Mom would not eat meat on Friday's during Lent. I don't either. Gail does. She stopped by one afternoon loaded with McDonald's bags....filled with McChicken sandwiches! "I know you won't eat meat so I bought chicken" :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I am a cheater in the kitchen. Actually this is a disclaimer to any new folks who don't know me yet. I have not met a recipe that I can stick to. The results are not always pretty:upsidedow.

Whenever I make a meatloaf I use ground turkey or beef and add onion soup mix (1 pkg per LB), ketchup, oatmeal and a little water. If I am using lean turkey I add a little vegetable oil. I don't use eggs as my DGD is allergic. I pop it into a pan and cook at 350 for about an hour or so. I glaze the top with a mixture of equal parts ketchup, brown sugar and yellow mustard. I heat it on the stove and add it the last 1/2 hour, adding more every ten minutes or so. It is really good.

Oh my goodness! :rotfl: Here I bought you chicken!:lmao:

And on the following recipes, you must be talking about me, right! ;) You know I'm right with you on that, can't follow a recipe exactly to save my life!

Lindsay, Prayers will be said that all goes well this evening!:flower3:

Oh Lauren, Just what I need another kitchen gadget!! Yeah, I'm going look at it!

I LOVE my 5 quart Le Creuset pot. One thing I really like is if I'm doing a roast, I can sear it off on the stovetop and then just put the pot in the oven, rather than dirtying two pots. It's also very heavy, so it is great for soups or sauces or anything else that you want to cook a while but don't want to burn the bottom. I highly recommend it. I also really like the small skillet I have from them.

Good luck to A at tryouts. He shouldn't be nervous, though, because everyone gets to play. They just have the tryouts to make it so the teams are fairly even. Liam has to tryout this year too.

I am using your Asian marinade for my chicken wings tonight. Good thing I copied it down!

I can't believe you drove a golfcart into a store. :lmao: Of course, I can't say too much...I've only driven into stationary objects myself.

Lindsay, I hope things go okay tonight.

Barging in here ... Thank you for that info. I have been eyeing a pot like that for quite a while, but have never really been able to justify the price. But the bit about burning things down on the bottom struck something with me. I have stainless pots, and any time I make a cheese sauce or a thick soup. the stuff burns down on the bottom.

Hey that looks like a great price on that 5 qt. Le Creuset, now you've got me thinking about one.:)

Nancy, that pork sounds good! How do you think it would be in the crock? Buddy and Kady's date night sounds great...it really is so sweet that they do that...

***********
I am in a fog or something today..

A is going by his dad this weekend so that may be why I am in a funk too...some weeks affect me more than others. I think he will be home early on Sunday though since he has to come back this way for Little League try outs. This is his first year for LL...please send him some pixie dust...I think the other boys will be alot better than my baby...:scared:

Lauren- a new thread and I am still managing to miss things :confused3 GIve your body time to adjust, I think it takes time to get back to normal, whatever that is. :grouphug:

Don't worry about Andrew. He is younger so the big kids will play better, but they all started in the same place. I remember when Debbie made the All Star team the first time. On her team she was a "big fish" (a little girl, though) but once she got onto that team I don't think she played but one or two times in the series. Mad Auntie :headache::mad:, but she was the youngest one. THe next year she was playing and there were other kids on the bench. I imagine their parents and Aunties were upset for them as well. It's funny though, as a team member she was fine with it. Andrew will be fine as well.

I would use a bone in pork roast if I cooked it in the crock pot.

Tonight's dinner will be fast food for me - I have a retreat and will pick something up on my way to the campsite. Mom is making plans with her family and she'll be gone before I get back home tomorrow and DH is going to eat leftovers.

Aimee- the DIS has been slow and I have the attention span of a gnat so if you posted about the other night I missed it. How did everything go? Are you feeling better?

Now you've gotta tell!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I second that!

And on the following recipes, you must be talking about me, right! ;) You know I'm right with you on that, can't follow a recipe exactly to save my life!

Now I can say I am in good company!

Barging in here ...

Just jump in Denae. We chat a lot so please join in.

I have a vegetable soup with barley for whenever on the stove. I used the ham stock and added carrots, celery, onions, cabbage, barley and will add some meatballs. I want to add diced tomatoes and maybe some corn.

I can't believe you drove a golfcart into a store. :lmao: .

:sad2: How can you make fun of her for driving a golf cart into a store? You, who have driven into many things, should understand.

For example, folks, one time she drove her car right into the support wire for a telephone pole! If I recall correctly, she backed her car into a fire hydrant one time too. And then there was the time she backed her car right into the Cadillac belonging to the lady across the street...I could go on....

I really can't decide what to make for dinner. Maybe breakfast food.

Don't stop now.............:rotfl:

Hey Guys, Not feeling great but wanted to check in and let you guys know:

I just bought a Le Creuset pot and if you spend over $159, you get a $70 utensil set for free...add it to the cart and the discount is taken at checkout...

I'll come back later to follow up...just feel horrible...:sad1:

Hi all - I missed a few days and wow! Thread disappears, find new thread and look - lots of new people.
Welcome!!

So - Lauren. How do you not see a building? :rotfl: :rotfl:
I hope you are feeling better soon.

Aimee - How did your ordination go Wednesday? I missed all that. I hope well and I hope you are feeling better!

Lindsay - prayers said for tonight. I'm sure it will all work out. Keep us posted!

Tonight we are doing either tacos or enchiladas, or both if my son comes to dinner! Mexican rice on the side.

OK, public service announcement:

Do not try to teach one of your passengers, who is a non smoker, in the back seat how to blow smoke circles while driving...

I did mention that the flower pot/building incident was in high school, right? And, I have not had a cigarette since October...:thumbsup2

Go lay down so you can feel better

I rode my bike in to a side of a building, of course I just was learning to ride a bike. I didn't know how to brake yet :rotfl2:

Boy the Dis starts flying & we get all kinds of funny stuff on the WFDT thread!

Sisterly banter and driving into telephone poles, confessions of driving & blowing smoke rings! Craziness!:rotfl: :lmao:

PLEASE PLEASE no more discussion of Le Crueset & fondue pots! ;) ARE y'all trying to FORCE me to spend money?!!! :confused3 I had no idea Le Crueset came in so many pretty colors! Gosh I want that Moroccan tangine cooker!!

Irish Lamb stew is not going to happen here tonight. I don't have any cabbage or beef broth in the house and it is storming & cold outside. Now I have to figure out what else to do with these lamb shoulder chops I've thawed out.

I was just looking over the recipes I saved boy I didn't get to a lot of them I really hope we get the thread back even if it is locked.
