Ann, I don't blame you for looking for warmer weather. It is wicked cold here as well. My truck is a diesel and usually if it is plugged in for two hours it starts right up. Not today. We had to pile in DH old monstrosity to bring Kady to school and that was not a pretty sight! WE had all of her paraphernalia for projects, snow gear he backpack and her lunch box, me and my stuff all trying to crawl over his treasures!

Will you let me know how AKL is? I love that place and would like to stay again but I am not sure how it is now that construction has change at some. Last time we were able to get a Deluxe Savannah room but I understand that is not available now.
Nancy, the visual you painted gave me a chuckle!:rotfl:

This is our first stay at AKL, DH & I are looking forward to our little guy looking out the window at animals. He is going to freak when he sees a giraffe. I will let you know how it is.

WFD- we are having baked chicken wings, cole slaw, and dinner rolls.

Ok. I have to admit it. I have no idea what you are talking about. Is it some sort of hybrid?

Hi there, new here....

I LOVE to cook. Tonight I'm making a Cunbanito pie, that I saw on the food network (my favorite channel LOL).

Welcome!

Did anyone see the Rosa Regale on the Today show? They were pairing it with salty sweet and showed it with Dale and Thomas popcorn...guess that is what we will indulge in on Valentine's Day since I have both on hand!

Dale and Thomas popcorn is really good if you have never tried it. :thumbsup2

No, but the Publix near me has Rosa on sale this week. I've never heard of the popcorn though.

I need to know if reading our thread spreads viruses. I got hit big with the stomach one Saturday Night. So I missed yesterday's crab boil & didn't make any headway on the washing & packing!

I hope you are feeling better this afternoon. Hailey came down with the stomach bug on Saturday and hasn't been sick again since. However, she does still have a slight fever and isn't eating very much. So I hope you recover quicker than she has.

Tonight I'm eating whatever the kitchen is cooking for the big meeting tonight at church/work. It's going to be a horrible one, y'all. Hundreds are coming and I'm just dreading it. My biggest fear is that a shot will be taken at me :sad1:

DH is eating leftovers at home.

And yet he seems like the lucky one. Seriously, I'll be thinking about you. Good luck.

I hope this thread doesn't spread germs because Caili has the flu. She is not quite as sick as she was yesterday, but she is in bed and asleep. When we were waiting to be seen at the doctor's office, I could see all the parents looking at Caili and making sure their kids didn't go anywhere near her.

My dad is bringing me some supplies since I can't get to the store (he asked if he could just leave it on the front steps  ) so I am making a roast chicken tonight. I didn't want to give my dad anything too complicated on the list. I think I will also make eggplant sticks and asparagus since I have those.

Laura, I'm so sorry your baby has the flu. Did you catch it in time that the dr thinks that Tamaflu will work?

And you laugh about your Dad wanting to drop the supplies at the front door. My mom did that very thing yesterday afternoon. Between the cold/flu and the stomach bug going around my house, she wouldn't come in. She called me to say she was on the way, dropped everything on the front porch, got back in her car, and blew the horn. When I went outside to retrieve the package, she backed out of my driveway and waved. She wouldn't even roll the window down (and it was over 70 degrees here yesterday).

Kathy - Have you heard anything at all from Wendie?

I think I've decided on tonight's dinner. Baked pork chops with onion rice. Blah, I know, but I ran out of ideas.

Blah, I know, but I ran out of ideas.

This made me think of a cookbook that I got for Christmas. It's called Desperation dinners. It's a collection of dinners from 2 real women who put loads and loads of research into it. The concept is that nothing in it takes more than 20-30 minutes to make but it's not just the same old same old. It's a lot better than like 30 minute meals by Rachel Ray though (even though I love her food), because a lot of Rachel's 30 minute meaals, actually take a lot longer than 30 minutes to make.

Anyhoo, its a really nifty cookbook. I've made a few things from it so far.

Aimee, Wishing you well this evening...

Laura, Poor Caili. I hope she has a speedy recovery!

Sheryl, Maybe call the track and see what time they say to get there...or just give yourself an extra hour...

I have to say, this work we are doing is overwelming...I freaked yesterday because that is all we are focusing on and the rest of the house is falling behind...I guess I can clean when its all done.

We are using a veneer from Dutch Quality Stone. Here it is. The color we chose is the one on the bottom in the middle. We are going to apply is just as shown which is "dry stacked"...no mortar in between each stone.

Angelhalo, it looks like you're going to be making alot of pesto! You can make it and freeze it too. I love pesto but my husband claims to be allergic to basil...I guess he hasn't figured out that the tomato sauce that he loves so much is loaded with it! ;)

I'm having a crapping dinner tonight~oldest DD has a swim meet and youngest DD and DH have a basketball game so we are just having sandwiches. I hate dinners like that.

Hahahahahahaha! Freezing it is a good idea. I made some last week, but I was like gah, we can't just eat pesto every night. My fiance claimed it was too strong. He liked it though. I think I'm gonna go with the freezing it option

You can also dry it...maybe make a creamy pesto sauce so its not as strong...don't ask me how to make it though!

Angel...I just noticed your ticker...you're getting married!!! :cool1: Congrats! We were just married this past June. It was so fun to plan.

heehee, well I'm sure I could find a recipe. I've also been thinking about trying my hand at a couple of new thai dishes as they tend to have a lot of basil in them

I'll be thinking of you and hoping it goes better than you expect.

 for Caili!!!

Kathy - Have you heard anything at all from Wendie?

No, not a word. I thought about calling her but I don't want to intrude.

Welcome Angelhalo!!!!:goodvibes

Well, DH just called and he is down with the evil illness and is leaving work early. He also informed me, when I told him that Caili has the flu, that he never got his flu shot! :scared1: :headache:

I don't have an appetite at all, but I am going to make something for dinner anyway. I am thinking maybe baked tortellini in a cream sauce....something bland that won't further upset our stomachs.

I have high hopes for tomorrow though--I prepped a chicken with a spicy indian-style paste I made from ginger, garlic, lemon, tumeric, garam masala, ground up almonds, cilantro, chiles, and onions. Assuming that I am back to normal tomorrow, I'm going to roast that in some banana leaves and make a couple of other indian vegetable dishes.

:worship:You absolutely amaze me! :worship: That chicken sounds heavenly.

Hope your family is feeling better soon.

Ann

That chicken sounds like my fiance to a T! I like it all except the nuts.

My mom gave me a rotisserrie for Christmas, so we've been experimenting with it. Its one of those set it and forget it machines. So far we love it. I have a turkey breast to go in it at some point this week.

Sure! OMG it sounds sooooooo good! I hope it turns out as good as it sounds. The recipe was from Guy Fierri......let me find it..........

Howdy! I saw Guy make this on Paula Deen's show and it looked great.

Love your ticker!!

Thanks Lucas!

My fiance LOVES Cuban sandwiches so this sounded like a natural.

Just hit a glitch though, somewhere in our move, we lost our pie pans so I just called him and asked him to pick one up on his way home. LOL

My day just improved - a collegue is bringing me Taco Bueno tonight before the meeting!

Hey, it's the little things...

Thanks for all your good thoughts - I appreciate them.

Rotissiere Chicken
Mashed Potatoes
Salad
Fries for those who don't like mashed potatoes.

Popping in . LOVE the pics!!!!

Does anybody have any good stuffed mushroom recipes? What about fish, shrimp and scallops?

DH and I are trying to eat a bit healthier and I am lost since most of what I make is NOT healthy :)
