What's everyone's favourite DVC resort at WDW?

Favourite DVC resort - I always seem to go for the same one - may start to try others but which?....

depends upon which park most of your trip will be at?

MK - then VWL

Epcot or Studios - BWV or BCV

AK - doesn't matter I like OKW

DD - then SSR or OKW

no parks - OKW or SSR

I couldn't stay at BCV, BWV or VWL and not do a WDW park - I tried and failed....

I can stay at OKW and be quite happy without doing a WDW park.

Also depends on if you like lots of space and a vacation home feel, or if you want a hotel type room. OKW is more like a vacation home, while the others are more like hotels. SSR is somewhere between. It's a hotel like resort with no interior hallways and a seperate parking lot for each building. BWV and BCV are within walking distance of Epcot and MGM, if you need to add anymore walking to your days there. If not, OKW and SSR will be just fine with the easy buses that deliver you right to the front of every park. VWL is closest to MK.

I am too new to have a favorite , but I see us as liking the style of OKW and SSR the most. I don't actually see the draw of walking to places. Maybe its pushing 90 pounds of children around for a good part of the day that makes walking MORE seem like a bad idea. Hopefully, one day I will get to give it a try though and see if it makes a difference in our plans (we hope to try ALL the resorts over the years!).

BWV hands down it has an awesome location and great nightlife and there is always stuff going on. We prefer the hustle and busle of the area to the other quieter more laid back resorts they don't fit our families lifestyle at all.

Our top choice at DVC is OKW. 2nd is BCV with VWL and VB close behind. All the rest are my third choice.

My favorite is OKW. 2nd fav is BCV. There is definitely a different atmosphere at each resort, and OKW is very laid back and BCV is a little more fast paced.

And I agree with spiceycat- I can't stay at an Epcot resort without going to Epcot. But I could stay at OKW all day and never leave the resort. It's just so peaceful and relaxing there.

I recently read a similiar thread on another Disney related internet board, that you posted to. The post in response to yours-- on that board, had some very valid points. It stated that really all the DVC villas are not anything like hotel rooms. The closest DVC villa to that would be the OKW studio. The more hotel feel between the resorts is in the hallways, elevators and amenities. Not in the feel of the DVC villa, where you are living for the length of your trip!
If there are Disney hotel rooms that can compete with the "hotel DVC villas", I wish somebody would tell us about them!!!!! They would be great rooms to get with an AP discount, which is most often lower than a DVC discount; for a nice long weekend getaway!

It also may depend on what type of unit you want. For us, 1 BR-OKW, studio-BCV. And if DS had his way, regardless of the unit, BWV.

My choices:

I bedroom at BWV if it has a boardwalk view, and any one bedroom at OKW are my favorites.
WLV is my 2nd choice, and SSR is third. I don't particularly care for BCV, but it's not terrible or anything. I just don't like having an enclosed patio (I am claustrophobic )

Ours is our home resort, BWV. Next choice would be either BCV or VWL. SSR would come next, and OKW is our 'last resort' resort

Why would there be inevitable flames???? You stated your opinion. We would rank the resorts in almost the same order, except BCV would definitely be 2nd and VWL 3rd, all the rest of our rankings would be the same.

My favorite is VWL, that's where we're going in December this year. I love the whole area, even the quiet pool with it's springs is fun!

PS. For Flower and Garden we like to stay at BCV, but we don't own there. We've been able to book it at 7 months out for 2 years now. We really like all of the DVC's and have stayed at all of them except HH, and would go back to any of them in a heartbeat.

I guess it all depends on why your there. With my 3 young kids we would never at this stage go to WDW without doing the parks. I spent a ton of money for Polynesian and we barely used the place other than for an evening swim. At this point in our early start to dvc I would have to say SSR OR BV though they are quite different. OKW seems popular-we'll have to check it out!

For us, it is BCV! The kids love the pool. We love walking over to the Boardwalk at night and the short walk to Epcot is great! We also like Beaches and Cream.

I have to say SSR has really stollen my heart. Or course I have only stayed at OKW, SSR, and BWV. SSR is just so comfortable. Of course that's an opinion, and you know about opinions.

.............and of those three we prefer BCV our home resort. I expect that at some point we will stay at OKW and SSR so we could change our minds.

Why do we like BCV best? Well, we like the beachy atmosphere, the color scheme, it's location to EPCOT (our favorite park) and the short boat ride to MGM or next most favorite resort. So you can see that for us BCV suites us best (so far).
