What's cooking?

Did I mention the slug I found today, had to be a good four inches long and it was white! :scared1: UGH over the fence it went!

No bugs in thsi yard. I have 8 Tiki Torches going :lmao: And some more citronella candle's burning on the deck. My Neighbor thought she should call the fire dept :rotfl:

Ah ha....Isn't Bloomfield a paid department?? Fit men in uniforms...I think you benefit over the neighbor. (that's as G rated as I can get with fireman comments)

All the citronella in the world does not help with Fire ants! If your ever down here, and you see a mound of sand about six inches in diamater and about 2 inches high, avoid it like the plague, thats what the mounds look like! I think I'm gonna treat the whole yard tomorrow, all the rain we have been getting is making them breed.

So what did everyone have for dinner?

Stuffed Peppers here.

A couple of hard boiled eggs here. A couple of glasses of decaf iced tea. Started doing some projects and before I knew it, it was almost 9pm and Who Wants to be the Next Food Network Star was coming on, so I went for grab and go.

A beer and a carton of chocolate-raspberry yogurt. :crazy2: No rain today and it is HOT, HOT, HOT -- no cooking tonight. (or anything else either -- I guess the fire-ants and I agree on one thing...)

I guess having some hot firemen over wouldn't be such a bad Idea!!! :thumbsup2

We had turkey burgers on the grill. and some Cosmo's.. I was still full yesterday from a FANTABULOUS dinner on Saturday night.

Ugh! Fire ants! I hate those things. I keep a sharp eye out on our lawn and start the Ambro and whatever else I have on hand, instantly upon site!!!

Ummm...Mike? Be really happy that it was only your thumb! :scared:

Where's Viki? She always jumps in on the cooking/drinking threads.

For breakfast, a large coffee with half and half. Nibbling on a cinnamon egg twist (kinda like a Stella Dorra Breakfast treat). And I'll probably have a hard boiled egg.

Lunch and dinner to be determined by weather (Yuck heat index of like 110 today), plus I'm still waiting to hear from the headhunter. Cayla's boat is supposed to be delivered this afternoon...not holding my breath on that. I think it might be a good day for PB&J sandwiches.

Viki must have worked her tail off yesterday. :confused3

Oh do tell...FANTABULOUS......

Headed to the DP's Mom's house for the Sunday visit. We'll return to swim, weather permitting and some burgers on the grill.

Our "boys" are gone <<<sigh>>> so we are going to indulge in large messy burgers with corn on the cob as a side. We'll grill that too.

Neat to hear about the baking on the grill. My DP is totally into grilling so I'll let her in on that one.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday! Back to work for me tomorrow. :sad1:

How do you do your corn? Sometimes I soak the whole ear in ice water and roast it on the grill in the husk. Other times I husk the corn line foil with butter, add dill and wrap the foil around the ears and roast that way.

I do the foil trick.

Husk the corn, wrap in foil with butter salt and a little water to steam.

Throw it on the grill! YUM!

I also slice potatoes and onions, layer in a foil pouch with salt, pepper, and a little butter and throw that on the grill, add a little cheese at the last minute!

Anything to avoid turning on the oven in this heat!

I tried grilling asparagus the other day, didn't care for that too much, I prefer it steamed.

I do the potato and onion packets as well. I use butter and dill for the most part. I love this dish. So simple and no pots to clean. And it works great in a campfire as well.

For beef I found this great spice rub at a coffee roasters booth at a garlic festival in the NY Finger lakes region last year. It's made with ground coffee and six spices/herbs. It's a fantastic rub.

For beef I marinate, I make my own marinade. I use the same marinade when I make beef jerky. And I make some kick butt jerky.

And don't get me started on ice cream and sorbets. Those are some of my favorite things to make

We too love out asparagus steamed but cooked on the grill with olive oil, garlic, salt and balsamic vinegar... not to bad. The vinegar gives it a kick. :woohoo:

Gotta ask, how do you keep it from falling through the grill? I had one of those contraptions that you put a whole fish in to grill, but they fell out of that too! :confused3

I cook it on a piece of foil doubled over. My DH does not like them burned or crispy so I usually cook them on the top rack.

hmmm asparagus on the grill - never tried that. Sounds easy enough...

I usually roast it with garlic / parmasean / olive oil.

I wrap Squash, herbs and some olive oil in foil and cook that on the grill a lot.

Stacey - dinner was at Raimondo's On Long Beach Island Saturday.

On Long Beach Blvd?? Haven't been in a while, I guess they are still that good! I had a friend I used to vist in Beach Haven. I started many a weekends at the Dutchman.
