What's Closing (and When) Due to Harry Potter?

Does that mean the Unicorn will be closed until HP opens? That is my daughter's favorite ride and the DD is my husband's favorite ride. We are going the second week of December and if both rides are closed we may skip IOA this time around!

So dissapointed to see the unicorn is going to close before our up coming visit . I just hope that DD is still open in a few weeks when we come to visit. I guess we will see for sure when the homies come back form their trip or if DM reports other news,

Wow...I am with the shooting idea. We are there for a week in Feb, starting a few days just before Pres. week. No DD will be unacceptable! Do you hear me, powers that be? U-N-A-C-C-E-P-T-A-B-L-E!!!

The Enchanted Oak is the best counter service in IOA so it sucks to lose that. But as for the ride closures, a few of you might want to start rearranging your dates.

If only I could...well, I can but only by a few days...nothing that would make a difference.

Well, as my goodbye to Enchanted Oak, I am having ribs from Enchanted Oak tonight. So sad---this is my favorite place to eat.

Well, it's one of the creatures J.K. Rowling created. I've also heard the they're putting Hagrid's shack somewhere near it. Hagrid raised hippogriff's in book 3. :goodvibes

i tried to watch the first movie and i did stick with it for almost an hour.

that is my one and only experience with mr potter.

yes, i am a potter virgin

and because of my comments on boards past is how i received that tag in my siggie......my ignorance of the books/movies on it.

i don't care how the new potter island will be for theme-ing.

i just know that universal will do it up right and make it thrilling.
that is exciting to me.

i have heard rumors over the years of UO expanding and bringing in another island. i'm ready for new rides and adventures........i know it will be great

Okay...I work in the Lost Continent so my information is reliable.

The Flying Unicorn, The Dragon's Keep (Gift Shop next to exit of Dueling Dragons), and Enchanted Oak (BBQ place across from Dueling Dragons) are closing on July 8 which is this Tuesday. My managers are telling me that Dueling Dragons is closing in December for retheming not permanent closure. In addition, I believe Sinbad and Poseidon's Fury are going to stay open because there is still going to be a "Lost Continent." They're trying to add a new island which will be Harry Potter land or whatnot...people have to understand that they're not taking away The Lost Continent.

We are going to Universal in December, around the 20th. DD is going to be closed:scared1:

We really want to ride this. Say it ain't so and it will only close a couple of days?

ITA! My ds8 loves FU and can ride it like 8 times in a row. He's way too small for DD or Hulk. He will be soooo disappointed in Sept when we go. :sad1:

Same for my DD6. She'll be very disappointed :sad1: . I only hope that Woody coaster in studios KidZone will be opened (last September it was closed for maintenance during our trip).

i appreciate everything the universal employees are telling us.

but, i'm not going to get disappointed until uo officially posts about dd closure.

have to keep thinking positive, don't i..........

Mac! Great Hula Girl!!! ( I need to get me a fancy schamcy moving tag!!)

I am sad to hear Flying Unicorn will be shutting down. It's a great swoopy coaster, as appose to the herky jerky goofy's barnstormer.

We are going in August so we will for sure do anything that's still open in that area.

I just had an interesting thought! Several years ago, Universal had lifesized interactable triceratops in their Triceratops Encounter area. I think it would be pretty cool to use that same technology (or similar) to bring hippogriffs to live!

i have this feeling i will be googling a lot of those new potter words in the near future.

laura, no they do not.
but there is a stickie on the top of the forum that gives the heads up on rehab closures.
