but looking forward to new rides and attractions.
universal does it good.

heck, half the people that ride jaws or the mummy have never seen the movie or read the books and they loved the ride.

I emailed Universal C.S. about this and a couple of other things.... since the general consensus was december for closures/rehabs of rides in the immediate HP area. This was the response:

Okay...I work in the Lost Continent so my information is reliable.

The Flying Unicorn, The Dragon's Keep (Gift Shop next to exit of Dueling Dragons), and Enchanted Oak (BBQ place across from Dueling Dragons) are closing on July 8 which is this Tuesday. My managers are telling me that Dueling Dragons is closing in December for retheming not permanent closure. In addition, I believe Sinbad and Poseidon's Fury are going to stay open because there is still going to be a "Lost Continent." They're trying to add a new island which will be Harry Potter land or whatnot...people have to understand that they're not taking away The Lost Continent.

When in December is DD closing? We will be there between Christmas and New Years. DD is my favorite ride in Orlando. I was looking forward to riding it on our upcoming trip.

I guess I should have kept reading through the thread. I sure hope they keep DD open through the busy Christmas and New Years period. DH is threatening that this is our last trip to Orlando for a few years. I have to be able to ride DD one more time!

We will be there exact same time, PBH,; I really can't see them shooting themselves in the public relations foot by closing during one of their busiest times.

At work, we've been discussing things we'd like to see in the HP area, since Enchanted Oak and Alchemy bar are closed/ing, as will many of the other shops.

Enchanted Oak & Alchemy Bar can become The Three Broomsticks or the Hog's Head.

Turn the Frozen Dessert into Honeydukes. Just think: chocolate frogs, all the jelly bean flavors (via jelly belly, most likely), etc.

This has serious potential!


And rumors are that DD will stay open for a long time, they will just set up a temporary queue while they retheme the main queue.

Please forgive my complete ignorance, but what are they re-themeing DD's queue into? Will it be Harry Potter themed? I'm just wondering-that is the best queue ever and I'd hate to see it changed. But, if it's going to help out HP-island, I think I can adjust!

Dueling Dragons will NOT be leaving the park. It may be rethemed to a few possible ideas being thrown around--all are rumor and speculation:

Gryffindor vs Slytherin

or

Triwizard Competition

imo enchanted oak could've easily been rebranded whomping willow tree something or other add a few more branches..throw a car in them, etc.

posiden (sp?) while vey enjoyable, could also be rebranded to the Chamber of Secrets w/snake, etc w/o much fuss...new videos, etc.

i have limited knowledge of parry hotter but as long as the enchanted oak reopens with the same menu and drink, i will be there ........


i don't care what the place will look like. anything universal creates for E.O. will be great.

i love the patio in the back and the dim lights inside the joint.
the food........one of my faves.

i read many different web sites and read on one that dd would not be closed but the entrance would be altered while it was being rethemed.
i don't know what will happen, i wish i did and my trips would be worked around rehabbing dates.

i have learned that the rumors half the time are just rumors.
if they are true, we will never know until it happens.

it would be nice for those at UO to find they can ride all the rides they set their hearts on.

somethings will be down when i am there in the fall.
i would rather know about it in advance then be surprised to find them off limits when i am there.

for 3 years straight the Fire Eaters grilll was closed when i was there.
i would read how others went and it was open but that was not in the time period when i was going.

the dd queue was/is outstanding!
