What's closer than December 2009 ?

I'm pretty sure the Christmas decorations are up for about a week after NY so you should be okay to see them.I also understand that is one of the slowest, lowest crowd times of the year so y'all ought to be able to get a lot done!

I thought so too (about a week) but Grumpy reminded me that when we were there in 2006 they were taking the resort decorations off at POFQ on her birthday (January 3rd). Also the last time to see the Osborne Lights this year is January 4th!!!! We have to totally change our plans so that we can enjoy the holiday theming the first 3 days. Looks like it'll be gone after that :(

ok I'm better now. There are a bunch of DIS'ers going in jan. There is a thread in the resorts countdown area talking about it called snowbirds. Fly on over if you want.

I need to check that out !!! Sorry we'll miss you :(

* A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a Walt Disney World Resort 1-Day Magic Your Way Base Ticket** or a Disneyland Resort 1-Day/1-Park Ticket** for them to use on their birthday for merchandise, recreation or fun activities, as applicable, at select participating locations at the Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort;

This is what Grumpy is gonna go for. She says she'll finally be able to buy herself silly stuff without feeling guilty! I sense pirates and princesses :)

I got this off of EveryDayMathChick's web site. I've seen some cool tshirts you did for one trip and had wondered where you got the designs from. Unless you did them yourself? If so, I am in total awe. Have you seen this one? It's a Stitch.

Awww I love that pic of Stitch !!!! For our shirts, I got some pics online and then put stuff together myself on Photoshop (except for our AK shirts which were made from pics I took back in December). I think we wore like 1 shirt out of all the ones we'd made... it was a waste of time and money for us :(

I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to call Dining and try to get reservations so we may have to change this again if I can't get what we want...

Dec 31s (that one's not changing)

Arriving around 7pm at Wilderness Lodge, check in etc... Dinner at 9pm Whispering Canyon. Then off to the WL beach to see the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks.

January 1st - Epcot
Morning in Future World ending with lunch at Coral Reef (I have this one booked already).
Afternoon relaxing at WL for Grumpy, but I may go to MK and see the Christmas parade.
Back at Epcot for the evening. Dinner at Tutto Italia, Illuminations from somewhere. It has evening EMH that night which is why we want to go. We don't plan on doing any big rides but we do want to enjoy the decorations around World Showcase.

January 2nd - Hollywood Studios
Morning EMH. We'll probably go grab a FP for Toy Story then head right over Tower of Terror and ride a couple times. Maybe I'll try Rock'n'Roller this time ? We'll grab some FPs for Tot on the way out too.
Breakfast at Cape May around 10.30am (last seating available) then probably go to DTD for some shopping before heading back to WL.
Pool time :)
Back to HS for 6.30pm Fantasmic, take a lookie at the Osborne Lights after Fantasmic, then off to AKL for a very late Boma dinner (I'm hoping to get a 9.30 ADR).

January 3rd - Magic Kingdom
This will be the last day before Splash Mountain starts their yeary rehab and we intend to ride as much as we can!
Morning EMH, then breakfast at Crystal Palace around 10am.
Back to WL at some point unless we feel like doing a full day ??
Dinner at Liberty Tree if I can get it, then Spectro, Wishes, and one last Splash ride in the night :)

January 4th - Shopping Day and Grumpy's one-day-late birthday.
Breakfast at Chef Mickey's, hopefully.
After breakfast, off to the Premiums Outlets where we'll spend a good part of the day and an even greater part of my inheritance.
That night we'll be going to Narcoosee's for Grumpy's one-day-late birthday dinner, hoping to get an ADR for around 7pm so we can see the fireworks.
MK has evening EMH that night so we may head back there for a few, or go to DTD.

January 5th
This is a very long shot but I'm hoping to get a breakfast ADR at CRT that morning. I know. Very very long shot. I'll call and check in 2 hours and 40mns. If I can't get that, then maybe we'll go to Boma. Or maybe we'll change our minds about skipping AK this trip and go there instead.
I will book Grumpy's spa treatment somewhere around noon if possible.
Don't know what I'll do while she's there. Maybe go to AK by myself, or to HS for some more ToT..
Then it's back to Epcot that evening, I can't think of a place we could go to for dinner though. Le Cellier would be great but it's probably not gonna happen.

We've decided we are NOT going to leave property except to go to the Premium Outlets. I will order stuff online from Walgreens and Bath & Body Works and Philosophy. Walmart nearly killed us on the last trip and between Wally World and Florida Mall, we spent nearly $180 on cabs!! We always buy the same stuff anyway so we'll just order online a few days before we leave and have it delivered at WL. They're not gonna love us for that... it'll be a LOT of boxes

Sounds like a great plan Marina!!!

 Thanks !!

Just called Dining and of course CRT is already booked. It's OK though, I probably would have had to drag Grumpy there kicking and screaming :)

Got Chef Mickey's at a good hour on the 4th, Narcoosee's for her birthday dinner and Liberty Tree. I'll call back later for the rest... still trying to find something fun to do on the morning of the 5th. Also got Boma for 9.55PM (well I did ask for "latest latest we can get pretty please")... I think we'll just show up early for it if we can, or we'll take our time at DHS before going off to the Lodge. We've done a 9.50 dinner at Boma once and it was great.
Grumpy & I both agree we want to do Boma VERY LAST THING in a day because we usually need to be rolled out the place :rotfl:

There's something I want to do if they release AP rate for January.
We won't get any discount for the night of Dec 31st, and won't be able to use our DDE card (I refuse to use that ridiculous new name. It'll be the DDE to me!) on the 31st OR on January 1st.
So I was thinking that if they release AP rates, I could make one reservation for January 1st - January 6th at AP rate, and make the night of Dec 31st into a package with Deluxe DDP. That's 3 credits per person to be used by midnight on Jan 1st, so we would cover Whispering Canyon, Coral Reef and Tutto Italia with that. It would make sense financially, I think. We need tickets anyway, and can turn at least one of them into an AP the next day.

Of course we'd only do that if there's AP rates.. and it'll depend on what they are, too. Wish Disney would hurry up!!! Last year they were announced at the end of October so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They seem to release the rates on Wednesday so I figure it should be October 29th this year. :thumbsup2

You crack me up Marina. Sounds like some great plans! I'm truly excited for the two of you. It sounds like it's going to be so much unbelievable fun!

We will be eating dinner at WCC @ 6:55 on the 31st!

Not this time. We will be staying at SSR. Our trip was supposed to be in July but we had to postpone it. By the time we found out we couldn't go until Dec/Jan it was too late to get in to VWL. But maybe we will run in to you while we are enjoying the resort decorations.

Marina I love your trip reports and glad you started another one! We just got back from nearly two weeks at the mouse and are suffering major post-vacation blues. :sad2: I can't wait to dive into your report to help lift my spirits. :thumbsup2

Looks like you've got a great plan for your trip. I understand your frustrations about the AP rates. The AP is a great deal, but trying to work the rates are frustrating. Poor Zachary tried really hard to help me a few nights ago make some changes and I finally said "forget it, let's just leave everything as is." We have two reservations and trying to get them to match was near impossible. But he did try.

TWO WEEKS !!! WOW!!!!

I was looking at our plans... and thinking that it would be cool if we moved over to the Grand Floridian on the last night. I would move Narcoosee's to the 5th... then I thought, well we leave so early the last morning (9am) that we won't get to enjoy the resort at all..

Well what if we moved for the last 2 nights ? The parks close so early after the 3rd of January that we would be able to enjoy the resort that night. Grumpy would be able to go straight from her spa appointment back to our room, or to the pool, and we could try GFC for breakfast that morning maybe...

But is it worth it ??? I know the GF isn't my cuppa tea, but it might very well be Grumpy's. She can get accustomed to luxury VERY easily. How are the rooms ? The rack rate for those nights is $399 as of now so roughly $130 more than WL. I would pay for those nights instead of splitting the WL costs with Grumpy.

So... crazy/silly or would be fun ????

Hmmm, decisions, decisions! How many days total are you going to be there? (I'm to lazy to go back and look).

It would be a cool way to check out the GF. Not my cup of tea either. That is how we got to try the Poly once but it was a 12 day trip. I just don't like taking the time to change resorts if it is not a longer trip.

I think if you and Grumpy have not been there before, I'd definitely give it a go. We stayed there several times and its always nice. Our cup of tea is more towards the Poly though, but all of the resorts have their strong points. I think you'll both have a lot of fun there. :)

Gosh, I really need to pay more attention to people's siggies! I just noticed you have this pre-trippie going! Anyhow... I'm hopping on here as well! I cannot believe how many times you are going in such a short period of time! Lucky duck!

I say, try anything once. You never know. Does Grumpy like fru fru? I have never stayed there, but that what the pics look to me. Lots of fru fru. I have heard it is excellant and the service is superb. If you can swing it, I say go for it.

Okay well, Grumpy & I were talking about resorts and I said I wouldn't mind trying every single one of them except ASSports and she said "And the Floridian one! Way too prout-prout for me."
And now I have to translate that lovely expression to yall. Lucky me. :sad2:

OK let's see well "prout" is "fart" so, I guess to my mother the lovely Grand Floridian resort is fart-fart. I don't quite understand the logic behind that choice of words (do snobby people fart more than us regular folks??? Or is the air around GF too stuck up therefore it makes people fart more??).

That's too much hard core philosophy at 6.46 in the morning. :surfweb:
