What's better, in your opinion?

I have a mypoints account that I use for online shopping - and i'm hoping to eventually redeem my points for a pre-paid visa card to put towards our trip next year.
i got an email from Bank of America (my bank) and they now offer "cash back" on a lot of things I've been purchasing through mypoints - now, my question is this - am I better off continuing using mypoints, or should i switch to the BoA program and get "instant cash back"?

IMO there is no need to give up one in order to take advantage of the other. Mypoints will send you emails that are good for 5 pts ea. I get several every day. Just doing the emails and one or two purchases a year is usually good enough for me to get a $25 gift card. OTOH, your BoA probably combines both a shopping portal and points per dollar spent at B&M stores when you use your debit card. That can really rack up the points faster. I would probably work the mypoints account until I could cash in for the visa card. Then focus my efforts on the BoA program.

I agree. I use MyPoints for the emails and eventually work towards a gift card. For most purchases, though, I go through ebates for cash back. I will go through MyPoints if ebates doesn't offer any cash back. My main issue with MyPoints is that the points needed to cash in for cards changes. At least with ebates I know I'll get some money back.
