What's a "troll"?

Ok, maybe I am being dumb, but what the heck is a troll? I have seen it on many threads recently and decided to ask.

A troll is someone who posts a controversial topic, solely to start an argument. Often, the troll actually doesn't care anything about the topic, just about the dispute they foster.

Yep, what bicker said. Its basically someone who posts purely to cause trouble and then sit back and watch as people go against eachother..

Just to stir up trouble. Maybe they view it as fun. Maybe they do it for the attention. Who knows?

As opposed to someone (like myself often enough) Who is activly involved in the argument and is interested in it. A troll starts trouble just to be a jerk. Not everyone that starts trouble is a troll.
