I'm just in the beginning stages of trip planning for early/mid December 2013. At the moment looking into staying at the dolphin, which means I would need airport transportation.

What would be a good rate for a rental car for a week?" Last time I rented was probably 8 Years ago and it was dirt cheap.

Hard to say; depends on when in December and what kind of car you want, etc.

My usual advice is to look around now and book something, assuming you have your flight times. Whatever you do, don't book anything binding or pre-pay!

Although December is a long way off, check online now and then to see if there are better deals and keep your eye out for discounts at retailers, etc. Once you get to around October, get more serious about finding a better rate. You still might not find much; often the best rates are 7-21 days out from your arrival.

As long as your time doesn't spill into Christmas, I think you'll ultimately do pretty well; I would think mid-$100's or below for a week.
