Whatcha Reading?

The Mating by Nicky Charles, it's a werewolf story. :)

Am attempting to communicate with the famous Madame Leota. For she is to select the next book for our book club to read.

I'm working my way through Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series *again*.

There's currently 7 books in the series, but she's writing the 8th right now. It starts with Cross Stitch or Outlander depending on what Country you're buying it in.

It's an amazing storyline that can't be categorised, as it falls into all of them - romance, science fiction, history, war, the list goes on. But I really like it! :rotfl:

Right now I'm re-reading Emma by Austen. I went through a lot of her fan-fic, the best being Pamela Aiden's Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman series. Sweet and romantic! And the worst? Sharon Lathan's Mr & Mrs Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One. No plot whatsoever.

Highly recommended reading: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. Even if you don't care for westerns, give it a try. I'm not a western fan by any stretch but the characters are so well developed and dimensional and the story itself is an epic journey. Very moving! (The TV miniseries pales in comparison to the book.)

What? No Pride and Predjudice and Zombies (or whatever that book is called)? :rotfl:

I have a GIANT coffee table book with Austen's books in it. Great collection but a little hard to hold up in the air while reading in bed! :headache:
Pride and Predjudice is my favorite.

Ugh to P&P&Z! I read about half of it and just dozed off.... :rotfl: But Lathan's is 100x worse. On Amazon I tagged it "1 star because zero stars isnt an option".

If you love P&P, have you seen BBC's North and South (Gaskell)? Rawr!

No, but that sounds familar. I must have been looking at it on Netflix. I much prefer the BBC version of P&P because they take the time to follow the book. I'll have to go back and check North and South again. However, I think suggesting it would cause a riot in my family- due to Netflix's price increase we are reducing to one disc at a time and we are all in the middle of watching season 2 Criminal Minds. And then the third season of Fringe is coming out...

Edited to add: Just checked and it is on instant watch!

No riot necessary! Start here. :)

I just watched the first episode on Netflix intstant watch. Very interesting to see the other side. All of those other movies take place in the country and you don't see the industrial side going on at the same time. Can't wait to see more. Thanks! (And we all still get to watch Criminal Minds) ;)

Was North and South taken from a book?

Just finished the hunger games a couple weeks ago. It was really good, or I should say the first two books where really good the last one was a little disappointing :-)

I loved that series. What was disappointing to you? I really enjoyed the last book. Be sure to put a spoiler warning if you need to so other people won't accidentally see the ending if they don't want to.

Picked up a book called "When the Mob Ran Vegas" for 8 bucks today at Barns and Noble. Can't wait to get started on it.

Well report back on it. :) I thought the mob still did run LV. :confused3 ;)

I started Double Cross, an Alex Cross book but not sure if I'm interested in that after all now. Kind of in book limbo at the moment. Think I'll go back and see what free Kindle books I have that I haven't read yet.

It felt rushed to me, sporadic, and when it was over I just said to my self "Really....." in disbelief that it would end like that. I loved, loved the first two though :-)

Interesting. I have to say, I would have liked for it be longer. I do agree the very end came up suddenly and would have liked more detail there. But then I was sad the series ended.

Thanks. I just "bought" it. But I think I will watch it first, then read the book.

I'm now reading Green by Ted Dekker which I forgot I had. After that I will move on to his new book The Priest's Graveyard which Amazon editors selected as one of the best books of 2011 so far.
