H and I will be leaving in 2 days and in the past we have eaten in Disneyland(only a couple of places) and the food was awful, expensive and the portions were tiny, one piece of small lettuce with one tiny piece of meat on it. So this is where I need your help, I want you to tell me where you have eaten, around how much the cost was, how was the service and where is it located? Every suggestion would greatly be appreciated by everyone!! Thanks!!! :sunny:

I've always thought the portions were huge at DL, but I only eat counter service.
I like Rancho Zocalo. Poor design for the line/ordering slows down the process but the portions are large and tasty.
Pizza Port, tons of seating, good amount of food choices. Share the Chicken Fussli- YUM!
DH and I share gumbo in a bread bowl at Royal Street Vernada in NOS.... I don't particularly like the seating there, take it with you and sit somewhere quiet like the dock area for the Columbia.
Or we share chili in a bread bowl at Coke Corner while listening to the piano players.

White Water Snacks inside the Grand Californian (near the pool) has fresh food, large servings, good price and they bring it to your table.

Here are some web sites with menu and pricing:

We ate at the Pizza Port, it was pretty good, I think it cost about $30. for a slice of pizza, spagetti, and two kids meals, and two sodas.
We also went to the Mexican place in frontierland, that was closer to $40, but none of us liked it(of course we were all so hungry we cleaned our plates!)
We ate at the PLaza Inn for dinner, it cost around $50 and the portions were HUGE! My hubby got a salad that was absolutely covered in bacon(yum!) I got a fried chicken platter and both the kids had fried chicken, plus dessert. It was delish!
We also ate at the Cafe Orleans, The hubby had the famed monte cristo. That was delish, but I had the crab salad and it was kinda warm, and reminded me of warn tuna and totally grossed me out. that was spendy, around $70.
But the BEST place we ate at was the Jazz Kitchen, YUM, YUM, YUM!!! That was the best, most delicious, tastiest meal we had while were there. My husband had the truot, YUM, I had some kinda pasta, YUM! But what got me was the kids meals! I got my DD(1) chicken strips, they came with garlic mashed potatoes, and fruit, or veggies, I forget, Any how it was alot of food. It was also the most expensive meal too. Around $100 or so.
We also went to Goofys Kicthen, the food was good and the interation was good. But I get stressed out easily, and it was very crowded, and that just totally stressed me out!
We also found a place right across from Angel Stadium, Fiesta Taco or something. They had the best tacos EVER!!!
Gosh, we sure sound like a buncha piggies, huh? Well fed, I like to say! :thumbsup2
Oh yeah! We also ate at the pacific wharf and had the shrimp salad, yum! And we got the Roast beef sandwich , that was the BEST roast beef sandwich EVER! And huge!!!

We went a couple weeks ago. I was SO looking forward to the food since we rarely eat out. I was so disappointed. I'm not even that picky of an eater either.

Just from my memory (which isn't very good lol):

1. Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney - service was the absolute worst of our entire trip. Our waitress was rarely around. We were starving, so we ordered nachos right away. Probably 30-45 minutes later, some guy comes and brings us our food. We ask about the nachos (the kids were out of control starving at this point). The waitress came out and said there was a mixup, but they could still bring them. Forget it. The cheeseburger I had tasted like a thick brick. lol DH's expensive pasta dish was very, very small portion. The kids liked the atmosphere, and we splurged on a "volcano" dessert to make up for it. That was the only saving grace for the meal. We had one free kids meal coupon and a $25 gift card. So, for the one kids meal, my burger, DH's pasta, the volcano, and our 2 sodas, it was, I want to say at least $50 - $60 more. Ouch - at least for us. Definitely not worth it.

2. Tomorrowland Terrace - this was a counter service lunch the following day. I don't know why, but for some reason, I ordered a burger. Tasted almost identical to the one at Rainforest (like trying to chew a thick piece of cardboard), although this one had a slight burnt taste. lol DH also ordered a burger. 2 burgers, 2 kids meals, and just 1 soda, and it was about $31 All in all not bad, but not a whole lot of flavor in my opinion.

3. The next day for lunch we had counter service in DCA Adventure. I forget the name of the counter service place, but it was just a walk up window in the Hollywood backlot - right across from the Playhouse Disney thing. 2 kids hot dog meals and 2 various hotdogs (1 for me, 1 for DH), 2 sodas again was around $31. Expensive for hotdogs, but MUCH better than the meals we'd had until then.

4. Goofy's Kitchen - we ate here for dinner. It's an all you can eat buffet. We got there before they opened for dinner at 5, so we were the first to check in - and the first seated (it was nice and in the back). Our best meal of the trip. One child (the other was free), 2 adults - minus 10% AAA discount came out to around $76 I think (this includes drinks, tax & tip!) We really liked this one a lot.

5. Rancho whatevercala (the Mexican place in DL) - lunch for our last day. This was SO incredibly nice to have after having burgers, hot dogs, pizza (at hotel) etc. It was nice to have a change. Large portions, although I wouldn't say that they were incredibly huge as I've heard others mention in the past. But it was great. Adult meals are around $10 each. I forget the total for this place. I want to say that for one soda, soft taco plate, taco salad meal, and 2 kids meals, that it was around $36 or so. The best part for DH was that the sodas here have free refills! Definitely a bonus.

Those are the only times we ate at the parks/DTD. Hope this helps.

The best burgers is Taste Pilots next to Soarin at DCA.

We like it as it is a touch screen to order. So you can get what you want and see what your order is.. Then you can go over to the topping bar and put on what ever you like..

For sodas we like the bottles from the coke machines or vendors as you can reclose them and you don't get a huge cup of ice and no drink..

Pizza port in Tomorrow land is good. The salads are huge and affordable. I think about $8.00 we usually split a salad and Pizza. My dad and I.

Then I am the queen of lunchables for the kids.. I will usually buy them the kids meal chicken nuggetts and you can get carrotts and chocolate milk or a juice box if you so choose. So that is about $6.00.

I don't rememeber the prices exactly as I have an AP and we get a discount..

We did do the Lilo ands stitch breakfast (Paradise Pier)and loved it. You could order off the menu or do the buffett. Which was nice as one of our family members has a very limited diet due to allergies. So we were all able to get what every one wanted. it was about $80.00 But I din't pay but it was 3 adults 2 kids and an infant. The characters were nice..

If you arr celebrating a Birthday we went to the plaza Inn for the birthday celebration in the afternoons.. We loved it. It was affordable. $10 pp included a drink in a souviner cup, a cake that you get to decorate. We didn't use all the sprinkles so we put them in a napkin and brought them home... They also got a chance to have a picture with Mickey and Minnie. So it was fun. My dad (62) loved it. i think he had the best time out of all of us..

HTH....

One of the best places for a cheaper meal with huge portions is Whitewater Snacks in the Grand CA hotel! We love this place and I share the nachos or french dip with my two girls age 6 and 3, and we still don't even finish the whole thing. Breakfast here is limited choices but I love the breakfast burrito and the breakfasts are 3.99 and 4.99!

You can also buy a refillable mug for here and stop in to get soda/coffee throughout your trip if that works for you. We never do because I bring my own cans of soda, but some people like it!

I also really like Carnation Cafe for lunch. They have a wonderful turkey sandwich on pretzel bread and potato cheese soup that I love! I think it's about $8.99 plus we get an AP discount!

Hope you find some better food this trip. We have our favorites and tend to stick with them so as not to be dissapointed!

Also forgot, we love Storyteller's Cafe for breakfast or lunch! The atmosphere is great and it's no more than you would pay at an Olive Garden or Mimi's!

My top picks are:

Mimi's cafe outside disneyland by Howard Johnson Hotel(excellent food and good prices)

Taste Pilots grill in California adventure park

Ihop outside disneyland has huge portions but didn't eat there on our last visit so not sure about prices

personally I have always found the portions at disneyland to be huge but yes their prices can be a little expensive. But any of the places that everyone else has listed is awesome but I thought I would give you a couple of choices outside disneyland :)

the $14 Fried Chicken at Plaza Inn was pretty good... i loved it.

I have to say I always get disappointed in the food. Maybe because I expect too much but we always do counter service because it is fast and convenient so can't talk about the seated meals. Anyway, my husband loves the fried chicken platter from the Plaza(it's pretty big), they also have a roast beef platter that is good. Every time we go, that's his choice for lunch AND dinner all the time. I like to vary so I pick up something someplace else and bring it over. Pizza port is also my DD's favorite(spaghetti and meat balls or chicken pasta) portions pretty large there and you can find seats easily. Also, we eat around the afternoon parade and fireworks times and this way we are right there, sometimes having dinner while watching the fireworks. Hope this helps.

I know what you mean about the food. What I usually did, was I had a nice big breakfast outside the park at like ihop, so I would be full for most of the day. It helped a whole lot. When I got hungry, I grabbed a bowl of fresh fruit, split a salad at Red Rockets, or grabbed a quick hot dog. It saved a whole lot of money.

On some days I had a light continental breakfast, then left the park and went out for lunch then came back in. I did that on some days. Or just ate a small muffin and a coffee in the morning in the park, and then headed out and picked up a churro or something to get me through till the evening where I could leve the park at closing and eat dinner else where ex: Rainforest Cafe, Goofy's Kitchen, Tony Romas.

We also loved Mimis, it was great for breakfast, cheap and delish! We did alot better eating a nice big breakfast before the park. That lets us get through a good chunk of the day before getting hungry again.

If you're going to Knott's during the trip, do the Sunday brunch. Amazing bang for your buck.

When I go to WDW, I always look forward to the food. We found the food at DL a big disappointment, too, when we went a few years ago. The only meal that we had that we really enjoyed was Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. I think we'll try some new places on our next trip and hopefully find something else that we like.

We were in DL last January and all three of us thought that the food was so so. Was going to tell you all of the places we got sick, but I will refrain. I really enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe. We ate at the Pacific Wharf Cafe (I think that is what it is called, in DCA) The turkey sandwiches were fabulash! SIL likes the Taste Pilots Grill. A few blocks away is a Bakers Square. We ate there a few times and it was always good. Have fun on your trip.

I enthusiastically second Goofy's Kitchen! The food's nice & hot, there's plenty of food variety and plenty of characters (we encountered 8 on our last visit). I certainly wasn't disappointed! :teeth:

We find that the portions are bigger and the food is generally better over in DCA. We like Taste Pilots and Boudin best.
