By the time we pass ROFR next month hopefully and close, we will be within about 7 months of our trip we are planning for early November. Assuming we can't stay where we want, we'll stay in studio or possibly 1 bedroom at SSR.

I'd like to know why people love staying @ SSR? The positives? The benefits?

The main pool. (and looking forward to the upcoming renovations)

The water slide at the main pool.

The theming.

The low maintenance fees.

The relatively low purchase price for the exact contract we wanted on the resale market.

The 2054 expiry date.

Its proximity to DTD.

The layout of the 2 bedroom villas.

The spa and golf course.

We're unique/odd in this regard, but we like being "away" from Disney when we're not in the parks (i.e. the lack of Disney theming is a plus for us, etc.)

Dining outside at the Turf Club with a bottle of wine and while the little one goes to bed.

Proximity to the water taxi and boat rentals (which the little one loves to do).

Clay tennis courts.

The ease at which it is to book whenever we want to go.

SSR is our home resort and have stayed there twice. We love the location to DDD, dedicated buses to parks (don't stop at other resorts), the main pool, Turf club is nice and cs on site is good. But best of all is the theme and relaxed, laid back feel we get when we are there. Enjoy you stay and discover what you like most about SSR.

We stayed there over the sumemr using our developer points and totally fell in love with it!

The grounds are nice and and whole place is tranquil and relaxing. We had great luck with the buses and loved taking the boat to DTD. We had a great view of the buena vista golf course and my son LOVED this..he's a little golf lover! We would use our points to stay there again for sure!

We stayed here before buying here (owned at BCV) and fell in love. We have now had 5 stays here.

Rooms are in good condition, theming (or lack of) feels upscale and comfortable. The grounds are amazing with nice, wide pathways and we never feel like the walks are too long or the resort is too big. We have had great success at nice views from our balcony on every vacation and we love spending time on our balcony, reading our books, enjoying a coffee or a cold drink.

We enjoy the main pool and the quiet pools here. Love the spa. Enjoy the walk to DTD. We enjoy the non-Disney feel, the quiet atmosphere and look forward to returning here after the hectic pace in the parks. We think that the both the CS and TS restaurants here offer good food.

No matter what time of year it is or how full SSR is, it never feels busy. The quiet, calm of the smaller pools and just the way it feels like a lazy summer day any time of year. Walking to DTD, riding the boats in the Sassagoula river and watching a movie by the pool.

Thanks for starting this thread. We bought at BLT last year, and you'd think a kid would be all excited about staying near MK. But DD wants to have her cousins come along, and she fell for the three-bedroom units at SS! And when I told her about the pool improvements, well let's just say it's a good thing we don't have MS on speed dial!
We're booked for a while now, but you never know ... 2012 might just find us there with the whole family!

:thumbsup2I have to agree. We love SSR for all of the reasons you stated here. I especially LOVE being so close to DTD. We love the theming too and don't understand why people say that it lacks theming . We like the walk to DTD and the boat ride there and back. I love being at DTD looking over at SSR and vice versa. We have stayed at OKW twice and each time we passed SSR on the boat..... we missed it. Or if we were staying at another DVC resort and happen to be at DTD...and look over at SSR...we always say we miss it. We do enjoy trying/staying at the other DVC resorts... don't get me wrong..... HOWEVER we are 100% happy with our SSR purchase. :goodvibes

Too many to list them all here are a few of our favs:

1. Scenery.. we love the springs.. the "mood" of SSR
2. Artist's Palate..
3. Pool is very nice
4. Spa is very nice, I love the workout facilities

and much more...

I love every single DVC resort, but what I like most about SSR is the beauty and peacefulness of the grounds, the condo style units, and the Tree House Villas!

One post stated, "CS and TS food is good". I beg to differ - I think the food here is really good, especially the CS selections. They give the easel pads and crayons for the young ones, and hang much of the "art work"! Initially I thought the place was to big, but we have discovered the layout is really nice and once you learn your way around it's not that bad of a walk to get around - and it's a nice walk! SSR Rocks!!!

We own at multiple home resorts but do love the laid back atmosphere, no one is in a huge hurry, its big and spacious so everyone is noton top of each other. It took us a fe trips to know what room locations we wanted for buses, counter service, and the great main pool but know its a great break from the non stop action of parks and some other resorts.

Beautiful grounds. Nice quiet pool areas. Rooms in good/great condition.

In January we stayed a week in a 1BR in Congress Park. Great location and easy access to DTD.

:thumbsup2

The Blue Cheese covered Steak at the Turf Club - YUM!

25 days until our first stay at THV!

Peace and quiet
Lots of grass
Your room opens up to the great outdoors instead of a hotel hallway
Artist Palette flatbreads
DVC merchandise at Artist Palette!

Everything about it! It is still our favorite resort with BLT a close second.

We were there in Dec 09. It was so peaceful and quiet walking from each group of buildings to another. Grounds are huge, but very well maintained and beautiful. There is a play area for small children at one of the buildings. Short walk to DTD.

this is our home resort with DVC...we like these things:

close to DTD

it isi so very pretty-----reminds me of Grand Floridain a little---elegant style

quiet and lotsof trees and landscaping

close to golf

close to my favorute quick service spots on dining plan: Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich

We stayed there for two weeks last summer before we bought DVC and fell in love with the relaxed feel at the resort. It was packed but never felt crowded and my then 3yo loved the pool and the night time movies. We also had great experiences with the staff and found them to be very helpful and friendly (this was our first trip to WDW).

We also loved the Turf Club. It was one of the best meals we had the whole trip. :lovestruc
