What you love about SSR?

SSR is my home resort and we love it.:goodvibes Some of my favorite things are the closeness to DTD, all pools are great, Yummy food, laid back feel, kids activities at main pool.

Everything!!!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

SSR is our home resort. We just checked out on Friday. We love it more everytime we stay there.

We own at AKL Jambo House, Kidani and Saratoga.
The complete opposite of each other and we love them all
just for that reason.

Saratoga is so beautiful, there's nothing like walking across the bridge early in the morning, listening to the birds and seeing the rabbits, it's one of my favorite things to do.

We also love eating on the terrace at the Turf Club and looking at the water and you can catch the boat that will take you to Downtown Disney.

We also love the smooth jazz they play at the quiet pool in Congress Park, which is across from Downtown Disney, weird, I know!

The last 2BR we had overlooked a courtyard and the golf course and you could smell the freshly mown grass and watch the golfers...I'm getting choked up just thinking about it! :goodvibes

Theming - While not heavily themed like AKV, nice upscale look
Landscaping - very pretty/relaxing
Turf Club - definitely one of the best kept secrets
Congress Park - Love the view from CP. Request it every time. Love sitting on the balacony having a glass of wine at night watching the activity over at DTD. Nice pool as well with view of DTD and playground for kids.
Most importantly the relaxing "feel". Even when disney is crowded (have been at SSR during easter) it never feels crowded or rushed. When you go back to the resort after a busy park day you can't help but feel relaxed.

Staying at BLT in 17 days and very excited but part of me feels like I am going to miss that relaxed atmosphere of SSR.

We love SSR for many reasons and most have been listed already. But I can't stress the relaxed feeling DH and I have when we stay there. When we stay at the Boardwalk, we really feel the "Disney Experience" with the lively Boardwalk and the Epcot "Ball" in the background. But when we'er over at SSR, we "know" we're in Disney, but feel like we in a beautiful resort elsewhere. We actually relax (what a concept :lmao:) so much more at SSR and slow down the pace somewhat.

I will say that I liked SSR a lot more till they stuck me in the Carousel building this last week, with a view of the guard gate, busy street and parking lot! As luck would have it, it was a balmy 40 degrees most nights and mornings so the balcony & ultimately the view were not that big of an issue. Thu-Sat, I believe there were only 2 people in our building, it was peaceful and quiet.

I will say that the mousekeeping staff at SSR does a wonderful job. The sandwiches and salads at the Artist Palette are really good!

We also stayed here on our Developer points and fell in love!!

The number one thing my family would say is the Community Hall and the activities there. Absolutely the best of all DVC's in my opinion!

I LOVE, and canot stress this enough, LOVE the Spa/Gym/workout area. Believe it or not, I looked forward to working out there on vacation (perish the thought) :lmao:

LOVED the everning movies in the pool, the beautiful and peaceful grounds (especially fountains) and close proximity to DTD & Apopka Vineland locations!

I would probably not like staying in the Carousel section, but the Springs section ROCKS!! :thumbsup2

We bought in to SSR, site un-seen back in 2005, and have not regretted a minute of it.

Our favorite area to stay at SSR is in the Grandstand. The highlights are you are the first bus stop - not only are you first on and can get a seat, but you are first off when the bus gets to the resort - the pool area has a bar where you can get refreshments/food, a nice hot tub, you are a very short walk to the carriage house and main pool area, and it is very quiet.

We love the decor of the resort. It is very relaxing to us. It is not far from DTD. Love the boats.

What can I say, we just love it all. :thumbsup2

We also bought sight unseem and love everything about it, especially the relaxed atmosphere and the quietness. It's a very layed back feeling at SSR and after spending the day at the parks you really come to appreciate that.

We've stayed at SSR the last two years.

DH and I both have high stress jobs and he is away from home a lot... so the relaxation and the chance to just chill is what we love the most. We both feel our blood pressure drop as soon as we pull through the gates. The whole resort has such a calm feel to it.

We love the boat to DTD, the pools, the ability to walk out your door and not be hit with a hotel hallway, and eating on the Turf Club Terrace. It is the kind of spot you could sit and have a few drinks on a quiet evening while watching the boats go by. (Not that I have the luxury of doing that with DD in tow!)

This trip, we considered other resorts to change things up a bit but kept coming back to SSR. For us, it feels like a vacation spot within a vacation spot.

I love that it has the Disney quality and feel but you don't run into Mickey on every corner. I love the familiarity of the grounds and the comfort food!!

We stayed at the SSR 2 years ago and are going back next month. My DD and SIL are SSR dvc owners and we do a split stay between SSR & BWV, our home resort. I found SSR to be so relaxing and peaceful. The guests and CM are all so friendly. It was so easy to strike up a conversation with SSR guests, far easier than the BW. I feel so at ease staying and really look forward to visiting again next month and for years to come. There could be a time in the future when we use our BWV points to stay at SSR, I love it there. :lovestruc  :thumbsup2

I enjoy the smaller split buildings. Unlike a lot of other resorts, you can get in and out of your room and outside on your way very quickly. As others said, never seems crazy busy at SSR (except the CS area :rotfl2:) and with the condo style rooms (outside entrance) you don't get a lot of hallway noise.

I like being close to DTD with options to walk/boat/bus there depending on how we feel (never did the bus though). We also enjoy the theming, it is not over the top, it is just very classy simple theming....and bright rooms. I absolutely loved the THV's!!!! Again, not over the top theme's, but just beautiful and secluded. Even without a car, it was worth being a little further away to enjoy them.

Along with all the reasons sited above - we always rent a car and parking right outside our room is great!! Unhappy because DVC owners "lost" free valet parking? Who needs valet parking :cheer2:

We did a girls trip for Labor Day weekend and stayed at SSR. Our stay was once again excellent!! We spent time at DTD shopping, hit the Margarita Bar at DTD, then stopped for Happy Hour at HOB, (3-5pm daily 1/2 price appetizers and $3 drinks!) all on the way to SSR:goodvibes We walked over and later that evening, took a taxi to shop at Premium Outlets.

The landscaping is gorgeous!! It is really coming along. I like morning walks at SSR my BFF slept in. The flowers are very unique and the variety is incredible. Every area is landscaped differently.

Spent lots of time by the main pool and our 1 bedroom in the Grandstand was immaculate!:wizard:

Bell Services was awesome and went above and beyond. Manny took wonderful care of us and we requested him by name whenever we needed Bell Service.

Love Love Love SSR:wizard:

It is really perfect Location if you go to all the parks.. It is in the center of DW.

The Artists Pallet's coloring boards are a favorite for DD5 while I drink my coffee (refill mug) in the AM. BEST BEST BEST FAV FAV FAV place to be in the AM.

The pool, athough not the SAB, is kind-a perfect. It is shallow with a walk in, but also a deep area. There is a "baby slide" for little kids, and a better one for DH. It has a donald spash area, as well.

It is one of the few with a SPA (WISSSSSSHHH they had a kids club next door), and walking distance to DTD. Though it may not seem like much, with the monorail at BLT or walking to Epcot.. Being that we usually go there after a long park day it is a nice walk, and very relaxing. Making TONNNS of places to eat dinner at.

The 1st stay (in Carosel) we did not appreciate SSR. The second trip at the Springs, we love it only second to BC (SOLELY for the SAB pool.)
Don't think for a second that this is a second class resort.. but a perfect solution if your 1st choice isn't available. Also if you mean this Nov.. that will be tough. There was minimal options 4 weeks ago when I booked.

This is where we stay the most. It's our "go to" place. IMHO there is absolutely nothing wrong with this resort. :goodvibes
