What would you have done?

...

Then again, urine is sterile, so I don't personally really consider it to be a biohazard, not from a 5 year old. Not really.

But I'm one who objects to sanitizing parks, especially with chemicals that are in santizer products and clorox etc wipe things. I prefer biological stuff to chemicals anyday; the body has an immune system that can fight against biological problems, but can't do much against chemicals!

They should have taken it with them, though.

Are you serious? I can't believe you posted that.... Bodily fluids pose a biological threat to others, especially if there is an infection or disease. Bodily fluids include vomit, feces, blood, and urine. Plus, a little child could inadvertently drink it laying on the side like that. You don't know how sterile it is when it comes from someone else and when it is untested. I have worked in labs and we always handled bodily fluids as biohazards.

You prefer biological stuff to chemicals anyday? What does that have to do with someone having their child pee in a bottle and then leaving it like that? Obviously, the adults should have taken the child to the bathroom.

DevilDuckie, I would have done exactly what you mentioned. Accountability, people!

Clearly a case of parents having messed up priorities... putting their own "desires" ahead of the child's "needs."

Completely disgusting!

I hope a small child didn't pick it up... "Mommy, look what I found."

So that's what that was?

Thought it was Mt. Dew...but tasted funny.

:drinking1

Well, I think they just did that because they were afraid of losing their posistion in line, 'cAUSE IF HE WOULD have gone to the bathroom, they were afraid you were going to tell them that if they would, they couldn't go back to where they were? But, I kindda feel sorry for them. What they could hve done so no1 could have suspected it, was THROWING AWAY THE BOTTLE IN A TRASH CAN. That would have been more polite?

It's a boy who peed in the bottle. Not a girl. :)

I don't know, I am actually not that bothered by having him pee in the bottle. After all, if the kid had to pee THAT bad, what's the likelihood he could have made it all the way out of the line and to a bathroom? So is it better to be surrounded and pee in a bottle, or pee all over himself and the parent carrying him quickly to the bathroom? I'm siding with the bottle-use over him peeing everywhere and on himself and a parent.

I AM bothered by them not taking it.

I think I agree. . . I certainly wouldn't have made a scene. That wouldn't be fair to the little boy in question. They should have taken the bottle with them, everyone knows there are plenty of trash cans along the way in most every ride, and it wouldn't hurt Mom or Dad to hold it for a little while. I would have told a CM though, because heaven knows some little kid could get ahold of it and take a drink before anyone noticed what was happening. And maybe he is a poor little guy who was made to pee in a bottle, or maybe he now thinks that was the coolest thing ever and will try getting away with it everywhere he goes. I'm told little boys are like that:rotfl:

While it is true that the bladder is considered sterile, urine can still have contaminants or a child can have an infection. Actually he could have easily had e-coli, MRSA or VRE in his urine. Trust me,,, 5 yr olds CAN have these in their urine. I have seen a huge increase in MRSA in children. So yes I do think that this family made a poor decision,,, how fair is it that someone else will have to pick that up? What if a little one picked it up in line (believe me my kids picked up things when they were little) My kids are older and know better but I would be furious if I had a little one and someone left a bottle of urine behind for them to find!

SO he peed in the bottle but who knows if all the pee went in? Some pee could be on his hands or the bottle holders hands, then pee on the railings, then pee on the ride. There's just way too much pee in this situation for me!

And all for what? So the kid could get on the ride faster? So the parents didn't have to wait in line again or longer?

I would think these people should be thrown out of the WDW park that day if they'd been caught. People get ARRESTED for peeing in public, whether it's in a bottle or on the ground. It's just wrong and I wish the parents would've been punished for such a lack of judgement.

So by that reasoning you don't mind if people don't wash their hands between going to the bathroom and handling your food? Because it's sterile, right?

Bodily fluids left in public places are Not Okay.

Yikes! That is disgusting! The peeing in the bottle doesn't bother me as much as leaving it there! I've got a DD who sometimes gives me about a minute notice that she has to go NOW. I have learned in Disney to make her go before rides with long lines.

I have heard many times that urine is sterile, but it is still gross that they left it there. I think I would have discreetly told a CM where it was so it could be disposed quickly! I am not big on confrontation so I can't imagine I would have said anything to the people.

Sorry you had to see that. Yuck!

Okay, I really don't want to get flamed, but this is MY reality so here it goes... I keep an empty water bottle in my car becuase I have 2 toddler who aren't great at holding their pee. I started this when we were potty training them, b/c if they had to go, they had to go. I thought it was much better than pulling over to side of the road to let them pee, at least it was private in our own car. They RARELY have to use the bottle nowadays b/c they have gotten better at controling their pee, and not having to go "RIGHT NOW"!!! LOL!!
Now I do have an issue in leaving the bottle lying around. That is truly disgusting b/c pee and poop are associated w/ bathrooms and considered "dirty" by most people. Another thing is that if my kids (being the curious creatures they are) see bottles lying around, they will want to pick it up. And Lord knows what kind of germs would there be on the OUTSIDE of that bottle!! EWWW....
So that's my 2 cents. Don't think it's weird to pee in a bottle, but the leaving of the bottle in a public exposed area is disgusting...

to the OP

i would have said
"EXCUSE ME...your forgetting something!!!"
& pointed at the bottle with a "look"
& then if i was feeling like a "brat" I would have offered her some hand sanitizer...lol:lmao:

Personally, I would have made eye contact with the mom and commented on how disgusting it was to leave a bottle of her kid's urine in the queue. But I'm not afraid of conflict, lol.

ditto...that is so so gross. This is a good example of why we also ask if anyone needs the restroom before such waits. I would never even consider doing something so rude.

I like this, except maybe I would be sincere in my offer of a wipe. LOL. What the heck. The kid peed in a bottle :confused3 I'm with many others - if they would have thrown it away, all was well. And I think offering a wipey would be neighborly :)

I don't think there is a reason to make the little boy feel bad. It was the adult's poor choice, not his. I would have thought stated to them to pick up the bottle and find a trashcan. I feel bad for the boy, if the adults couldn't wait to take him to a bathroom. I'm sure the CMs would have let them rejoin the line with their party if they weren't too far into it.

Just be glad he didn't have to go #2, I'd hate to be in THAT line, LOL!!!

I've used the pee in the bottle on more than one occasion myself! That said it was the only alternative to having the 3 year old pee publicly. I had an empty water bottle, I had him in my van and without further detail I am sure that everything made it into the bottle! I did NOT leave the bottle out in public though. I figured that by that point I kind of owned it!

So while we were there for a week with 2 little ones and I was PG myself and we all managed to use the restrooms and not the lines for a bathroom, I am more offended by the leaving of the urine than by the fact that the kid peed in a bottle!

If it comes to a situation like this next week for us I think I would loudly go back out of the line with the child saying 'potty emergency!' and leave DH in the line with the other kids. (assuming a long wait) If he is still in line when we get back I would make an effort to get back into a spot with him. If the line has moved that quickly then 1) great! crowds are low! and 2) great! now he gets to ride it twice! We have a family rule that if one of us has to use the potty then we all have to try - saves lots of unnecessary trips in and out of the restrooms!

 And people think I'm crazy for putting potty breaks into our touring plans!!!!!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I too do not have a problem of him going in a bottle, but did they have baby wipes or something to clean their hands after he was done? They should have gotten rid of the urine bottle properly. I think I would have politely said to them something like "can you please get rid of this"?. I am a germaphobe though and would be paranoid if I saw that happen and they could not clean their hands.

I don't have a problem so much with him peeing in a bottle. That the family left it behind is rude & disgusting! And there is the thought that they didn't clean their hands.

I have had DS pee in a bottle when we we've been on long road trips with no rest stop in sight.
