I called WDW to get some idea on prices and I was offered the following deals:

Six Day 5 Nights:

1. AKL w/ sav view.
2. WDW 4 Day My Way Package (base tickets) w/ dining package.
total: $2269.56

or should I buy an annual pass and hope I can get a room discount on this price:

Room Only:
1. AKL w/ sav view.
$1873.20

What are the advantages of being an AP member?

There are a lot of advantages to being an AP holder: Room discounts (if they are available), Disney Dining Experience (DDE), discounts on tours, 10% off at World of Disney, etc. Here is a link that you shoud check out for the other advantages:
