Yeahh I just feel like if I don't do VGC, I'll probably have some regret because I'll still feel like I can't get in there. VGC was always a hotel I wish I had been able to stay in when I was younger and I think with us predominantly wanting to use it around the holidays the decorations and the tree and overall vibe will probably fit more. Even with Disneyland forward, it's not like the main entrance to DL is going to move. It's too iconic with the train station and of course DCA being right across. If I buy 5 years from now, that's still a solid 30 years of VGC. I know past success is not indicative of the future, but if there's any resort that will probably hold a good amount of it's value to the bitter end, it's probably VGC when you look at similar resorts with prime locations like BWV and BCV.
I was blown away when we stayed at vgc and I saw there was a dca entrance right downstairs! That really is a gamechanger! Like they say in real estate, location, location, location!

Food for thought… I have transferred points in for VGC from another owner. They were relatively easy to find and much cheaper than purchasing.

Hrmm that's a good option. It'll likely be awhile before we even considered purchasing but maybe an as needed rental would be better for more financial freedom without having to lock the money up but we'll see 🤔

The downside to this is that it is spelled out in the rules as a violation to transfer points for money, as I understand there is no vagueness for this rule like the renting rule. Although I wonder if the original owner of points would be the only one in violation 🤔

Yeh, they could prevent it at some point I suppose but at the moment they turn a blind eye. I believe the rule is only there to make sure that the points are not seen to have a value, in the same way DVC can’t transfer OTUP without making a reservation.

The reason that they had to do that is because points represent your ownership interest so on their own they have no value.

So, if owners chose to transfer for money, they can’t come back and complain.

However. DVC has a don’t ask, don’t tell policy and I would be shocked to ever see them ask and stop owners.

Plus, neither side would really have a right to complain if it goes sour…lol

IMO, allowing owners to transfer and turn a blind eye actually helps reduce the number of renters who are not DVC owners too.

Just pointing out that there is no vagueness to say one didn't know or to left up to ones interpretation. Makes sense, thanks for the clarification on why it written into the rules, since its for this reason I do think it's less likely to get someone in trouble than I thought 20 minutes ago.

Knowing me I'm probably too greedy/point hungry to do it this way anyways but I doubt DVC actually cares, they just don't want any liability in the matter if a deal falls through. They probably have it written that way so when a deal does fall through they can just point at the terms and conditions and absolve themselves of any responsibility.
