What would you do?

Here is the situation:

We are going to WDW for a couple fo days in December. My hubby has only been once and we stayed at POR. It was nice but nothing great IMO. My DD and I go to WDW a lot. We normally stay at the AS's. We could go on the Friday after Thanksgiving if we stay at an AS and leave on the next Tuesday or we could go on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and stay at AK also leaving Tuesday. Hubby says he doesn't care but I know that he hates waking up and having no where to wander around and relax in the early AM. At POR he had plenty of places to explore- what would you do???
As for tickets we have APs- the only extra cost would be the food and room.

AKL, all the way! If your DH likes it, he might want to go more.

Like you, I wasn't too impressed with POR, beyond the grounds.
You may even want to try CSR or CBR. I know CSR has very nice grounds to walk around too. Haven't been at CBR, but probably will some day.
AKL is very nice and relaxing to walk around. And Boma's has very good food (and coffee) too.
If your budget can swing it, the ONLY downside I see to AKL is the location. However, I have only eaten at AKL, not stayed there.
If it meant staying longer, I would go for a mod over a deluxe.

My husband is not a big "Disney" fan either. However, that said, he LOVED the AKL. We had our own car so the fact that it is isolated a bit wasn't a problem. We used the buses once to the MK and it was OK too. AKL is a wonderful place to kick back and relax. I have stayed a AllStars enough times now and I know that they are a good value. However, I would rather cut back on a few souveniers or maybe an extra meal out to stay in one of the other resorts if you are there for the relaxation. If you are going to be up at dawn and at the parks til close, then I would probably still go with the AS.
