Hi everyone!

DH and I along with my parents have booke a 9 night MYW and DDP stay at the end of Oct at the Poly.:cheer2: This will be my DS10, DS7, and DD5 first trip to the World.

We originally were going to stay at POFQ and hubby got lots of overtime so we upgraded. My parents never go anywhere. They haven't been to the World since 1976 and my mom is especially anxious to see it again.popcorn:: This is a huge trip for them.

Should I keep original plans or should I secretly book the first 2 or 3 days at the GF? It looks beautiful and I would not tell my parents. I would pay the difference and suprise them. Should I or just keep it as is and keep it simple?

I want to do something nice for them because they do soooo much for us. I can't put them there without us because they would not like to be without us.

I would like to have something waiting for them at the desk or in their room. Any suggestions? I reeeeally appreciate all of your ideas.:flower3:

If up to me, I wouldn't do it...switching resorts is a pain. You'll lose a big chunk of your morning. The Poly is gorgeous, I'd stick w/ the original plan.

I have to agree that switching resorts is a huge pain. What about spending that money on a great dinner somewhere?

I'm sure they will be thrilled with the Poly...I wouldn't move.

I would stay at the Poly! Depending on the room already booked, maybe try to see if an upgraded room is available. Example: garden to lagoon view . . or even concierge! Don't know off the top of my head what the $ difference is, but it's just and idea.

You could also try to get a Wishes Cruise or some other special treat like alittle time at the GF spa with your mom.

Have fun planning!

I always agree with the KISS method - Keep It Simple Sweetie!

Moving will be a pain and the Poly is awesome! Enjoy!

I have stayed at the GF and the Poly and i preferred the Poly! The GF was beautiful but i didn't think the theming was as magical, ya know? The Poly was great and we had a bigger room too.We will be staying at the Poly again in november! Good luck and have a magical trip.:)

I agree with most of the others. The Poly in and of itself is a treat. Use the $ to do something special for them. Dinner at V & A's perhaps?

Thank you for all the responses! We shall stay at the Poly. No switching for us. I am very excited and have wanted to stay there since 1982.

I will check into other suprises. All of our ressies are made so I will have to think other than food.

Here's another vote for "not switching"...although I see you've already decided on that.

If you want to do something extra special, I'd book a Specialty Cruise.
There are cruises to see Wishes or Illuminations.
You reserve a boat & it would just be your family on it (plus the driver, of course!).
You can even pay an extra $25.00 & have the boat decorated if you are celebrating a birthday & also order a cake to be delivered to the boat (I'm doing all this for my DD's 13th b-day next week).

These cruises get fantastic reviews. If interested, you can read some reviews here on the DIS.

Do the GF, they would be so surprised and that would make the trip all the more memorable that you would do that for your family.

We originally were going to stay at POFQ flower3:

Way change from POFQ, they have a great pool (did our first stay with the kids and they love it) and you can take a boat down the river to to DTD. Better yet is POR (just up river ) and really beautiful. Save Polly or GF for when the kids are grown up and you are on your own or better yet save the money for a return trip next year. We did the less expensive resorts and ended up going like 6-7 years in a row. And now they are in college and we head down for the last week in Sept. but don't tell them.

It does look great! My DH told me this will be our one and only trip as a family.:scared1:

He worked extra overtime so we could upgrade to my first choice and be near the MK where will spend most of our time playing, ressies, and the Halloween Party as well. My parents are also going and they like the fact of hopping on the monorail to go back for a rest.

I am secretly hoping the kids and I will be able to get back and I will stay anywhere to do it. :thumbsup2 But my hubby wants a new car; his is 10 years old now and were are doin everything we can to keep it together. So...
