i have a concierge res. for Nov. (was april I had moved it and now I am regretting that since I could have gotten my money back). Since I can't cancel I will have to just keep rescheduling. I just dont see us doing it even if they sail this year (that's a personal decision and I will look forward to all of you enjoying your trips if they do sail this year). The problem is that there will be no time in 2022 that I can do it (super hard to get time off at my job since we cant have that many people out at once and even harder with 2 kids in different school systems (i.e. different vacations) and I think I will plan for my 2022 summer trip to be Japan since I have put that off long enough. So Now it may have to be 2023. But that may be when we reschedule our Northern Europe/baltic that was cancelled. Now that will be 2 cabins (non-concierge) with 1 person who was supposed to be in our suite in Nov being in the 2nd cabin. So, I could change this res. to non-concierge and then use for the europe cruise- but then can I move one person to the other room? OR if if were you would you just keep rescheduling until you can take a nice caribbean concierge cruise....which could be 2023 or 2024.... Thanks guys.

Good luck. Not concierge, but I understand the frustration. We are on our 3rd cruise for July 21 and looking to move it to summer 22. However, we also plan to go to Japan in summer 22. My 2 previous bookings were canceled by DCL; I suspect this 3rd one will be too.

If you regret not getting a refund, could you move the cruise again? This time to an earlier cruise that has a higher probability of getting cancelled so you can get your money back?

That's what I would do. Find the first available cruise and book it. It will surely cancel.

I had a similar situation. Here is what I did. I had booked for two people concierge but moved it to a single person non-concierge at earliest date, cheapest cabin. My deposit covered the entire fair, and I got the overages back immediately (I had made a couple of extra payments also). Then, I waited for them to cancel. When they did, I got the rest of my money back.

Why not book 2 instead of one since it is the “same price?” Technically, it’s not exactly the same since there are extra Port charges with two people.

This kept the least amount of my money tied up in DCL. If they had not cancelled, I would have moved my cruise out indefinitely, and I could add the extra person back on. You do not have to stay at concierge level. You can book any level you like. You just cannot get refund unless they cancel.

If you're OK keeping your money tied up in DCL, I would just schedule it for the European Cruise. You never know what might happen and it is always easier to fall back onto a Caribbean cruise than to fall back onto an European cruise. For example, if you booked the European Cruise and it doesn't seem appealing anymore, or there is an issue with traveling to Europe, it is much easier to book flights to Florida than to Europe. It's also much easier to snag hotels in Florida than in Europe.

You can also do both cruises. E.g., The European Cruise in 2023, and in 2024, do the Caribbean Cruise (provided the second cruise fare isn't an issue).

I'd err on taking the earlier cruise if possible. I think the pandemic has shown that you never know when life will get in the way of cruising.

OP...I agree with this. Move to a non concierge room to a cruise that will be cancelled and then get your money back and schedule later when you are ready to go. I hate that DCL makes you put up such a large non-refundable deposit on concierge level rooms. Other cruise lines do not do that. Also, DCL knows their are summer cruises will not go, but they continue to allow people to book and take their 20% deposits.

We are in the same position. We booked concierge for August 2021 and then moved it to Feb 2022. I'm not sure that WE will be ready to cruise in Feb if Disney hasn't been back cruising for several months. Prefer not to be in the first batch of cruisers on the ship. We've already moved it once and lost 1/2 of our Dreams Unlimited on board credit not to mention our DCL onboard booking discount (from the original booking non-concierge). The only summer 2022 cruise we'd be able to do is the last week of Aug on the Fantasy but I'm set on the Wonder so probably would want to move it out a year to Feb 2023.

IMO - in this situation, I think it's crappy of DCL not to refund concierge deposits.

Yeah its crappy that we cant cancel concierge during this pandemic

So... I should change to a june cruise and non-concierge? But there is a possibility I have to PIF before they cancel ?

just a question -- how were you able to change it to 1 person from 2? ( I thought it was not cancellable per person). Ours is a ressie for 5 people (DOH!)

I just called and had extra person removed. When they asked why I was removing extra person, I told them person did not feel comfortable traveling and wasn’t sure when they would be which was true.

Other than a lower cruise fare, there's no benefit to change. If you change from a concierge room to a non-concierge room, the deposit remains non-refundable if you cancel. If Disney cancels, it doesn't matter.

Yes - if they don't cancel the June cruise more than 60 days prior to the date of the cruise, then you would have to PIF at the 60 day mark (which would be sometime in April depending on the sail date in June). If you wanted to give yourself a cushion, maybe pick a cruise later in June. It seems likely they would cancel the whole month of June at one time, but you never know.
