I have to make up my mind about this but all these different scenarios keep playing in my head! I am taking my 4 kids plus a friend in June without DH.The kids are 18,17,14 8 and 9. I rented a car from Priceline through Hertz months ago before finding about ME.Now I'm really liking the idea of ME and not hving to get kids on shuttle to Hertz, drive to Dw etc(even though this is how we always do it!)To complicate matters we added 5 days to our vacation which means if I want to keep the car for the first week,I will have to return it to Hertz and take Mears back to WDW then we would all return to MCo 5 days later via ME(I would not take the kids with me to return car and we do have plenty of off days in our schedule) I am trying to word this subjectively because I want your honest opinions.Would you keep the rental in this situation or just take the $ loss.? :confused3 TIA

Well, since you already paid for the rental car, I would take it.

I would schedule ME and let them handle your bags and your kids, since they are older and you will have an Adult friend with you.

I would then (you) go by myself to pick up the car and stop on the way to pick up groceries in peace! :goodvibes

Meet back up with your group and just make sure they can check in without you. Even if they can't check in, they most likely will not arrive before you and if they do, they can wait at the resort until you get there to check in.
With 6 people, you will have a ton of luggage, and with ME, you will not have to touch it. Just have each person put their swimsuit or daypack (like on a cruise) as a carry on.

Return the car back to MCO and as you suggested, return on ME.

You would at least have a vehicle for part of your stay, which most likely you will need, because someone always forgets something, and it is cheaper to shop offsite than it is onsite. Maybe the teens want to visit US/IOA? Or you could pick up pizza for dinner one night.

Is there any way they will let you return the car to another location? I think there might be a Hertz counter in one of the Downtown Disney hotels. If so, that would be easier as you can drop the car off and walk over to DTD and catch a bus back to your resort.

I'm guessing there's no cancellation or refund option with the priceline reservation you made?

If not, I think I would keep the reservation for the arrival and then plan to maybe do some of the off-site type of things while I had the car. You'd be able to run to the grocery store or department stores if you needed/wanted. Plus, you'd have your luggage right there with you and not have that luggage delivery delay from the DME (3-4 hours or more).

I think I would use ME for the return trip rather than extending the reservation. This way you wouldn't have to worry about dropping of the car (and making sure you get gas to refill the tank on the way to the airport)...

I have been quite throughout all the conversations because I am not very good with my PC or the internet... I have to say I was excited to be a part of the ME and was reading all the post from all the more experienced forum people.. I was excited with the ME all the way up to the hotel which in my mind was a little slow and very crowded.. Every thing at the Contemporary was good untill the bags were lost and my 4 day vacation was almost in the toilet...I was very upset but the hotel took care of me and my family and gave me a refund on my stay and a $50 voucher for a taxi back to the airport. I have to say this vaction was almost lost but as always disney tried there best to make it right... I just wanted to try ME because it was new!! Next time I will look at taking some other form of transportation...

I love the Morrocon restaurant....

How much money would you be out if you canceled the car?

I say keep the car. You never know when you'll need to use it for emergency. I hate feeling stranded and dependent on others to get me where I want to go, especially with kids.

I would keep the car. Hertz is great to deal with and you will be in and out in no time. Use it for grocery shopping or going to dinner.

I am struggling with this same question. I will be traveling w/ my 2 DD-12 and 10-my DH will be staying home this trip. I have booked a rental car and also ME. I do not usually drive when we are at DW--hubby does all the driving. So, at this point, I am torn as to what to do.

The car cost $228 already paid for and non refundable.I'm leaning toward picking up the car myself, sending luggage and older kids off on ME.Still not sure though.
