I started a new job last week, I have been in school for 7 months now and I am able to do WAY more then this job requires. I took this job because the hours are good for my family right now but it is mindless and boring.
I work fri, sat, and sun open to close and the other girl works m-th so we basically split the days now.
It has been SO slow these past two weekends that I have been on. So I cleaned up a little and while I was working I put the tape and stapler neatly next to me on the desk (ya I know earth shattering move I made).I am a SUPER organized person.
Ok so I get a call AT HOME today from the other receptionist.... NOT my BOSS, not a manager ... the weekday receptionist. She starts to say that there was paper hung up that was NOT to be in plane view (its a phone list off the sales people). I had NOT hung it there and told her so. Then she goes on to say that SHE has things in a certain place for a reason and that now that I moved the tape everyone has to crawl over to get it. Its a large area, no crawling involved. And um... just move it back!
I told her flat out that she needs to call OUR boss and ask what they hired me to do.... was it to sit and look at the desk all weekend or was it to do a job and do it in a way that made it most productive for me to do. I also told her that I she was offensive (to me this phone call was).
Ok so now it 7 hours later and it is still heavy on my mind. I will NEVER feel comfortable there now and I am not sure what to do.
I want to call tomorrow and tell them this job is just not for me and go find a job that will let me use my skills. However we need the income and if I don't find a job right away it will put us in a tight bind.
What should I do.....??
Do YOU think her phone call was out of line???
Please, Please advice, I really need some right now.
