If you were in charge of the theme parks, and were getting complaints that the attractions were old and needed to be updated, would you change them? Or would you leave them "as is" for the purists like some of us seem to be?

I think I would just spruce them up a little, but not do any major overhauls. There are some things in life that just shouldn't be changed.

:D

I think that has to be one of the toughtest things to do in an entertainment venue, like WDW or DL, or any others. Do you change to keep it new and vibrant, cutting edge, hoping to attract new visitors? Or do you maintain and perfect what is tried and true, and historically enjoyed by many in the past, hoping to keep them coming back for the memories? I would hate to be the decision person for that.

It was Walt's intention that the parks continue to change. That's good enough for me.

I think it needs to be a good blend of both. Most should be kept fresh (particularly at Epcot) - which could be either simply updating it to meet what is current (like the Treehouse at MK that now incorporates the Tarzan characters) or having a slightly different storyline or it could mean removing something entirely for a new attraction.

But there are something that are considered sacred - Small World, for example - that should never be touched. Granted, there will be a lot of disagreements as to what is "sacred" and what isn't, since everyone has their own favorite memories, but Disney should have a good idea of the majority's opinion.

I agree, KrnB

You can update without completely canging the whole attraction.

I didn't know the treehouse was for Tarzan now! See what happens when you skip an attraction for 5+ years? I'll have to go see that now. You'd think I'd notice a sign or something, though. Then again, I usually skip the Tiki hut and Jungle Cruise too. Maybe I should start revisiting all the ones I take for granted before they disappear too. :)
