What would Disney have to do to keep your family away?

There's a lot of negativity on these boards (as always), and I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. We're discussing things that we aren't sure Disney is doing right- but of course there are plenty of things they DO do right. We're all here because we love Disney, and at the end of the day we keep going back because there's something special about it. That being said:

What could Disney do to actually keep your family away from the parks?

For me, all they need to do is start taking out classic attractions like the Jungle Cruise, The Haunted Mansion or Peter Pan's Flight. Any hint of the wrecking ball, and I'm out!

If they allowed smoking everywhere.
If they stopped being so food allergy friendly.
If getting a rental car became necessary (we use Magical Express and Disney Transportation this makes WDW a positive place so we don't have to rent a mini van on vacation)

There's nothing specific. If we stop enjoying our trips, we'll stop going.
Same here. I can't think on ONE thing -- or even a small collection of things -- that would lead to that. But obviously, DVC or not, if we stopped enjoying our trips for WHATEVER reason, we'd stop going.

I would SO mourn the loss of a HM -- and I'd feel like I'd need a pretty darned good justification for it leaving -- but I can't say I'd stop going for any one attraction loss.

The main factor keeping us away at this point are the crowd levels. Too high. Example, we have spring break coming up, I think my kids are off for 11 days, looking for somewhere to go. I refuse to go to WDW because of over-the-top crowd levels. BTDT, would prefer to flush the money down the toilet. We're basically down to one week in August that works for us between crowd levels and the school calendar but the weather stinks that week. Can't win! :)

I think for this board the question isn't so much about Disney keeping people away, it's whether people will cut back on frequency of trips and vary their vacations more than they had been doing.

I don't want to be a trouble-maker, but this Spring Break we opted for our first ever cruise with DCL!! :)

We're doing WDW in August for the first time as well -- just became too much of an ordeal to take the kids out of school for long periods.

They already have for us. No new attractions in years combined with increasing the prices has done us in. Having to make reservations for food 6 months out and rides 30 days out hasn't helped the situation. It takes the joy out of it. They should be adding a new attraction (a show, or ride or something) at each park each year. The parks are just so stagnant right now. They should not raise prices or change pricing structure until after new things open.

A lot of persons who post on the boards have figured out that to get any change from Disney's current direction, they have to stop going.

What's more, first-time visitors to Central Florida will have to make a decision that they are going to spend their week's vacation at Universal in enough numbers to bring the crowds down.

Then something might change.

I'd stop going altogether if they decided, as some posters have in the past called for on this board, that alcohol should not be served in ANY Disney park or resort.

As others have said it will be the combination of higher costs, higher crowds and no new offerings. The cuts they are making now are making me sad but not enough to stop just yet. However, if they actually do this digital E ticket thing, that might do it for me.

Not being snarky -- I REALLY want to understand -- why spend time on these boards? If I was done with Disney and going elsewhere, no offense to DIS, but I wouldn't be on here!

Oh that's easy. I still love disney but it's no longer worth my vacation dollars.

as previous posters mentioned. I'm skipping Disney. the parks are old and tired, now we use to be annual visitors so that may also be part of the problem. "familiarity breads contempt", the food has been watered down and is now hit or miss. new ride systems that make it very hard to not have to plan every nano second of the day all have contributed to us deciding to pass.

I had a couple of dvc memberships, sold one and holding onto the last one. I"m hoping when the new stuff comes on line we'll be back but as for now? No just so many other places I get a better value for.

I can understand this -- thanks for the response!
