What word mispronounced drives you crazy??

Biggest one for me is one of my staff calls it a Sammich 🤪

If it drives you crazy then try how they pronounce the city of Nevada, Missouri. Then again they have the same issues with Miami, MO and Versailles, MO too. ;)
And there's North Chili, NY. It's pronounced cheye-lie not chili (like the food)

Reese's Pieces.

The candy company was originating by a man with the last name of Reese. You ever call somebody named that "Re-see"?
the name on the wrapper of the pieces, cups and peanut butter is the possessive of his name Reese's, apostrophe and all so the correct pronunciation is reeesis. or am I missing something

Groin. Not sure why people say grow-un.
Missouri, not Missour-ah.

It's not a word mispronunciation, but a way of speaking that has become more common - skipping the T sound in the middle of words (T-glottalization). Button becomes buh'-on, mountain becomes moun'-in. It really makes me nuts.

And I also hate the droppped “t” thing. Why is that so common now?

I had a Pilates instructor that referred to “grow-un” and belly “buh’on“ all class long. Double whammy. :crazy2:

Supposably instead of supposedly. I have two very good friends that say this. On one hand it drives me crazy and on the other hand I smile inside because I know one of them was influenced by the other, and it just reinforces for me how close their friendship is.

Supposably means "as may be conceived or imagined" and is the adverb form of supposable, which means "capable of being supposed or conceived." On the other hand, supposedly usually means "allegedly." The words are often conflated when one usually intends to say "supposedly." ... The two words have distinct meanings.

I live near Newark (Nork) NJ, my daughter goes to college in Newark (new ark) DE. I’m always pronouncing the one in Delaware wrong.

This. I'm originally from the deep south so I try hard not to make an issue of accents. But, there is an area of northeast PA and the eastern southern tier of NY that does this. Scra-on (Scranton), buh-on (button). My adult daughter moved there after marriage and grandkids live there and they've all started doing it!

Wait.... we have a Miami? How do they say it??

I have a friend who says ideal instead of idea. Like “I have an ideal, let’s do this”. I cringe every time.
