We have been looking forward to the tour coming to our area for awhile, but it turned into a very sad occasion for us. :sad2:

We had a 30 min. drive and arrived about 15 minutes early to be sure to be in line when it opened. Mickey and Minnie were taking pics with some families so we got in line. When I went up with my son the gentleman running the tour said Mickey and Minnie were leaving for a television show and that we would not be able to see them. I turned to my son to explain to him what was going on. As I stood up, I saw the man take an older gentleman's cell phone and take pictures of him with Mickey and Minnie - after he told us no. The people weren't even in line behind us they just walked up on the other side. It mad me furious that he would turn a child away and then turn around and let an older couple see them. :furious:

Anyway I just had to post because I knew you would understand.

What a bummer.....I'm so sorry that your kids didn't get their turn with the big cheese!! And I agree, I would be a bit annoyed if they said no to us & then took someone after that too!! In fact, I probably would have voiced my opinion on the matter......
Hope they enjoyed the celebration anyways!! No tour here, but going in 25 days so I'll be ok!!

That is crazy
Did you go off on the guy?

That's what I'm thinking! I would have gone nuts on the man! But on the flip side, the people working the tour stops are local Disney Store cast members, who when you think about it, most of them were hired when The Childrens Place owned the Disney Store and they don't really know the "Disney Way" of doing things yet since the buy back is pretty recent.... My husband works on weekends at the Disney Store here and is working the Phoenix stop, all they had to do what sign up at their store to volunteer to work it. Not that it's an excuse, cuz there isn't one... your poor kid! But just saying, some of them just don't quite 'get it'

We went this morning and got there 10 minutes after it was supposed to start. Mickey & Minnie had been and gone. :sad1: We did get a Mickey balloon though and a golden invitation with an entry code--but can't find where to enter the code online. It was fun to get a balloon, but not really worth going out of your way for.

I thought about going today, but it would have been a 45 min drive and after I saw the pics from others going, it just didn't seem worth it. Glad I didn't go! Not worth it for the balloon...I don't get the whole tour thing, they only have the characters for 10 min. out of the 2 hrs the event is going on :confused3

I just asked how it was on the Wasatch front thread. I'm sorry that it was a less than stellar experience. Now I am really glad that I convinced myself not to go. I would have been really upset to go all that way (atleast an hour) and not even see Mickey or Minnie.

Oh my. I am sorry to hear that. Yeah that is really sad, very inappropriate. I would have said something at least. You bring your children there for a day of fun and to see some of their idols. I hope the rest of your day was much better though.

I am so mad also at the tour. We didnt see any mickey or minnie and was there when they started. We ended up getting the balloon and the invitation code but a hour or so late the balloon's ears went down and my ds went CRAZY because mickey had no ears! We were so excited that the tour was coming and my ds told all of the people that he was going to see mickey for his birthday and they could care less....all they said was to register at the computers for the birthday entry. What a bummer!

Hello all.

The rest of day was great! The kids played with their balloons all day and it was fun see them happy about it. I didn't go off on the man - though I really wanted to, I figured it wouldn't set the best example. That's why I had to vent here. :thanks: The man that I encountered was not a local Disney Store person as he told me that the tour had been very long for him. He mumbled something about lots of cities - I don't remember.

Another thing that I found odd was that they had some displays set up that had birthday presents and some treasure chests, but they had taken those down by the 11:00 start time. All in all it was not up to the Disney standards that we have come to love. :sad2:

Did you complain about it to anyone in charge? seems like something the cast member should be talked to about! Thats so cruel! Personally if it was just me and my bf and you and a young child were behind us and I was gonna be "last" I would have let you go! Of course I do that sort of thing even at the parks.

I kind of think he was the one in charge - which is unfortunate. There was another lady who was quickly taking things down who might have been over it though judging by the look on her face I don't think I would have gotten anywhere with her. She looked really irritated. Everyone else there looked like they were young college students.

It is just surprising to me, I have even noticed this in the parks. We were there two weeks ago and I had to explain to DS4 that Minnie could only take a quick picture with him, but not sign his book because she had to go the bathroom - it was the only excuse I could come up with that he could relate to. We had been waiting in line for 20 min. when the handler let us know she would not be signing autographs. I don't know what to think about it all. I am going to steer him away from characters from now on. It is just too much drama!

Same with at my event, I think they must have been interns. There was one guy at mine who was really sweet and wanted to give my sister as many baloons as she could carry (we couldnt take them all though because we were seeing a movie right after and the theatre wouldnt let us take them all in) however one young lady had shorts on sooooo short we could see her butt. At first we thought she might not even be wearing pants, but when she held up her arm to get a baloon her jacket slipped up alittle and there it was her toosh squeezed out the bottom of the shorts. Sometimes I think some of the cast members are really loosing touch with what its all about :sad1: while others remain amazing :wizard:

Also you shouldnt let it tirn you off characters entirely, I think the celebrate tour needs to have mickey and minnie there for longer they were out for a grand total of 15 minutes at our event and I really felt that they should have made more time for the kids.
