What will happen? Forgot to send in paperwork for OKW extension?

Okay, cleaning my desk today, I found the deed that I should have sent back to DVC because we declined to extend our membership at OKW. It got stuck away with some other things. The date on the letter is April 18, 2008!!! I can't believe I did this!

What will happen? Was there a deadline on it? Should I send it in now?

Contact Member Administration and they will put you in touch with the correct group.

Call member accounting and explain that you missed the paperwork by accident, and will be sending in the paperwork.

Specific actions haven't really been announced, bu t it has been rumored that those that did not return the paperwork, at some point, will likely have their ability to make reservations locked, or a lein placed against the deed for the amount of the extension, until it is resolved.

Does anyone else have a problem with the idea that we have to pay a notary to decline the extension? My wife and I have not returned our paperwork either and intend to do so but hate the idea that we have to go and have the paperwork notarized just to say we do not wish to extend our ownership.

I was not aware of any "penalties" for not doing so but will certainly get on this and eat the notary fee if a lien is threatened.

Thanks.

Do you live in the UK, where a notary is expensive? DVC, I believe, will reimburse you. US residents almost always have access to free notary services through their bank, Savings and Loan or Credit Union. And OKW owners received a $30 credit on last years dues to cover any associated costs, even if we did have to pay in the US.

if you are travelling to wdw soon, you could just take the contract to SSR and have them notarize it while you are there.

I wasn't aware of either of those options. Thank you.
(I don't live in the UK, I am just frugal)

I spoke with Member Administration. They said to get the deed notarized and send it in. Glad I found it before the penalties start!

Thanks everyone for your replies!

FYI: For those selling their Old Key West points it is important that the denial be returned before listing or soon after listing (assuming you want to deny the extension and advertise it as an Old Key West listing that expires 2042) or it can delay the closing process.
