What will Cars Land WDW look like?

I'm reading what you're saying, you keep mentioning the hub, as if that's the only place where construction is happening. I'm talking about the big picture and you're focused on one area, the hub. What's the excuse for DTD? I'm sorry that you think I'm not reading what's being said, I am.

All I am trying to say is if Disney were motivated, these projects would be completed.

You specifically quoted rteetz portion about the hub, which was true. There's no real way to do construction on the hub during the day . You also aren't reading what is being said because you keep acting as if we think Disney are doing a great job on construction because reasoning for some of the smaller projects have been offered. I've explicitly said they're not doing a good job on getting their projects done, and you're saying I'm focused on the hub. You have to realize that we can understand Disney not being able to rush through certain projects, while also being disappointed in their work on other projects, right?

As for the Parking garages, from my understanding aren't they being funded and done by Orange County workers?
That might be true, I'm not entirely sure tho. It took quite a long time to build that first garage and they are barely starting the second one.

yup sure can

Here you go! its actually Reedy Creek, and they footed the whole bill. Could go a long way in explaining the speed.

You do realize that Reedy Creek is basically Disney, right? It is a legal loophole to facilitate expansion without the hassles of true government interaction. It works because Disney has held themselves to a reasonably high standard, but it is almost all Disney employee's (high level) and friends of employee's that run Reedy Creek Improvement District.

Yep reedy creek is disney owned

Not Disney owned. Technically The Reedy Creek Improvment District derives its legitimacy from the State of Florida like other local governments. While it's true Disney has complete control, they do not own RCID. What makes RCID interesting is voting is done by those who hold the land parcels. That gives Disney significant control because they own thousands of acres of land in the district giving them the effective control they need.

This arrangement would've allowed Disney to completely control the City of Epcot, because housing would be done on a leasing based system. Because they didn't actually own the land the local population would have no voting power. This government system would've let Disney be extremly effective without having to deal with political forces of a highly educated workforce. Own the land, and thereby control the government. Total control from the top.

Ultimately Disney didn't build Epcot, and like World Drive, the placement of MK, and Epcot's location RCID remains a vestige of the project. This has allowed Disney greater flexibility in completely designing the whole area in a way that benefits WDW. Lower taxes and avoiding issues with zoning help too.

While its orignal purpose was lost, it's been a key part of generating Billions for the area. RCID is one interesting thing.

If Disney hates doing too many things at once why is there: Hub construction at MK, the DTD project, Pandora at AK, and the polynesian DVC happening simultaneously? All of these areas are torn up. I don't think Disney cares about having too many construction projects, but I don't think they want to properly fund all of the construction projects.

I should have said Disney doesn,t like doing to many MAJOR things at once. Avatarland I would consider major and DTD pretty major also. I feel they feel they don,t want to start another major project like DHS until DTD or Avatarland is finished. Just my opinion. I also look at the DVC projects as kind of a seperate thing and will be ongoing for some time in the future.

Ready creek is Disney... We know that right?

As stated... It's not "owned" by Disney...it's a special government puppet district controlled by Disney... With an extraordinary history not really seen anywhere else...

This is where I recommend Project: Future...And Married to the Mouse

Disney is brilliant. I love stuff like this.

Yeah! They really hustled the hell outta reedy creek, huh?

They should try their muscle on the "incorporated town of lake buena vista" and see how many other freebies they can get, huh?

That's what America is all about...loving tax cheats ;)

I'm really glad Universal doesn't share this work ethic. Is this also the excuse for DTD?

No...the excuse for downtown is that they had nothing to sell during the housing bubble
Crash...so they just kinda let it sit for 4 years...

The "nothing to see here" approach.

Then when all the rich people started telling us to spend borrowed money... Like on inflated Disney stock and Disney timeshares...lo and behold is back on the blocks.

But I think the snail construction had allowed them more time to work the third party vendors they want - profit shares without much of the costs. That's the "new vision"...I think they've had a hard time with that (which they'll never admit)... Because they would be tugging at the PR strings alot more if they would have had something more to say.

My take is that they are doing ok but not great lockong up tenants.

One upside is I hope they polled and figured out that an apple store is useless - as i don't go in the 2 within 5 miles of me - let alone do I want to play with iPads in Orlando.

I wonder if some of this is why Disney was so slow to build the 7 Dwarfs ride too? I remember checking out the construction from time to time and it always seemed like there were just a handful of workers there while Diagon Alley seemed to be crawling with workers. Of course there was a lot more to Diagon Alley so maybe that's why it always seemed so much busier?

DTD is shopping and dining. Now DTD is a lot more shopping and dining( and maybe some drinking).I am good with what they have been doing at DTD. Should be considerably better and again it's only shopping and dining so I don,t get too excited either way on that stuff.

Well I know they don't physically own it but Ike the description you gave they have total control basically so it's like they own it. Reedy creek has always been an interesting thing and while I would guess the government today doesn't like the deal all that much disney sure does. Reedy creek might be one of the best things disney did in Florida for the project overall. I'm sure disney wishes they had the same amount of control with their other projects and parks. It's one part I've always wanted dive more deeply into.

This year, I don't think they are going to get the boost they got last year from Frozen Summer Fun. Seems like a lot less buzz about it this spring, as well as about the movie itself.

I'm guessing you don't live with a 5 yo DD...Frozen Fever is still an active diagnosis in this household featuring Elsa shirts at least once a week to school. Just Let it Go child...
