I'm always on the lookout for some interesting new Wii games. I guess my Christmas gift money must be burning a hole in my pocket! :thumbsup2 What games have you played, and what did you think of them?

Mario Party 8--DH got this game, but I really enjoy it. I like the mixture of the board game style with the mini challenges.

Smarty Pants--I just got this for Christmas, and I love it. I'm a huge trivia game buff, so this is right up my alley.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games--DH just got this for Christmas, and it's a bit too hard for me. I just can't seem to get the hang of it quickly at all. DH catches on much faster, so essentially he does well on each event, and I get in the bottom 3, LOL.

Mario Galaxy--DH got this for Christmas and loves it! I haven't played it yet.

Tiger Woods Golf '08--DH and my dad spent hours playing this the other day. It's too much effort for my taste. I think I like the less complicated games better.

We got our Wii on Thursday! So far we've played Wii Sports - it's okay, funny how some sports are very easy and others you need a degree in mechanical engineering to figure out. Like tennis. Maybe it's just me but I can't do anything after the serve to save my life.

I loooooove Mario Galaxy. So much fun! I've probably spent about 8 hours on it so far... what the heck, it's my vacation week too - those essays can be graded after New Year's! LOL

DH brought home Wii Play... haven't played it yet. DH also picked up a used copy of the last Zelda game. He's really enjoying it so far... I haven't tried it.

I'd love to hear others' recommendations too.

That's funny because I'm great at tennis, but I stink at the golf and boxing! I think the nunchuck is just too much for me to comprehend in the boxing. DH wants me to play Mario Galaxy with him tomorrow. He said something about me being in the support role, whatever that means. I'll have to report back how I liked it.

You can read lots of other reviews in the thread in my signature.

Mario Galaxy--My favorite game so far.

Zelda: I LOOOOOVE this game.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles--my favorite game to play with DH. I love shooting zombies.

Harry Potter--Eh...it's okay, it was cool to do the wand movements but it gets old fast.

Guitar Hero--Awesome--can't wait for more.

Zack & Wiki--fun puzzle game--very different from any other game I've played. Kinda hard though.

Rayman raving Rabbids--Best funny mini game game ever--except maybe Rayman 2!

Madden--Dh keeps trying to get me to play "stupid wife mode" against him, but I just hate getting beat by him. He loves it though, plays it all the time.

Super Paper Mario--Probably my second favorite game. I love me some Mario.

Mario Party 8--Eh, it's not as good as the old ones and I haven't really wanted to play it very much.

Lego Star Wars--Rocks especially if you don't already have the old ones.

We have Metroid 3 and Fire Emblem that I haven't gotten to yet.

And I know I'm missing other stuff too...

Does anyone mind if I steal your reviews for my thread? If you don't say no, I'm gonna take them.

:teeth: Thanks!

My favorites are Wii Sports and Big Brain Academy. Other popular titles in the house (DH, DS4 and DS6) are Lego Star Wars, Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Mario Party (DS4 loves him some Mario!). DS6 likes the tank game on Wii Play and DS4 likes the Find Mii (it's scary how he can figure out what he's supposed to find even though he can't read the instructions!) and the cow race. Other than those, there's nothing too great about Wii Play - especially compared to Wii Sports.

We have a ton of games (20 or so), but those are the most popular.

none of them

wore me out

i am obviously too old for this system :rotfl:

dh, too

Sports--Like it, especially bowling

Play--Some of the games are ok, it worth it for the extra controller

Sonic(just Sonic not Mariovs Sonic)--Not a good game, very hard...

Mario Party 8--fun our families favorite

Cooking Mama-- I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game, bought it on a whim but haven't regreted it yet

Pokemon Battle Revolution-- Don't buy unless you own Diamond or Pearl. You don't create your own team unless you download from D or P

Big Brain Academy- I can take it or leave it. Its fun in small doses

Spider Man Friend or foe- DH and DS like this alot.

Harley go ahead take this for your thread if you'd like lol

My dd and I have been playing playground as single and multiple players. We have had alot of fun w/ this one. DD loves playing bowling on the sports disk.

Is Cooking Mama only for two players? I saw a cooking game that was a cook-off. Is that the same thing?

So far I am enjoying wii sports the most, but Mario Galaxy is really fun too. We have the HSM sing along game, but I'm not real thrilled with that. Looks like Star Wars will be our next purchase. Santa brought Mario to me, HSM to DD, and wii play to DH. Since he kind of got the raw end of the deal, I'll let him choose the next game!

Let me start with Carnival Games. This is an incredible collection of mini-games that you would find at any carnvial around the country. You start with about 20 games available and can unlock 7 or 8 more. Some of the games include: Basketball shot, duck shooting, tank dunk, knock the milk cans over, dime toss, dart toss, mini-golf, and many more. Another great feature of this game is the unique and varied use of the Wii remote. You will be swinging, tossing, turning, shaking, thrusting, circling and wiggling the remote in a different way for almost every game. The game is easy enough for anybody to play, yet it does offer quite a challenge to get the high scores. You can also unlock a whole bunch of different outfits and gadgets for your characters (one of the biggest drawbacks is that you can't use your own Miis). I highly recommend this game if you are a fan of mini-games.

Another fun game is Mario Strikers (Mario soccer). Unlike many other soccer games, this game is not so worried about traditional soccer skills, as it is in making soccer fun for everyone. If you are at all familiar with the Mario sports line of games, than you will know how Nintendo incorporates out-of-this-world features into traditional sports. One of the funnest parts of Mario Strikers is tackling other players. You shake the Wii remote up and down when you are near an oppenent to take him out. Some times my son and I will let the ball just sit there while we focus instead on trying to tackle each other. There are also special pick-ups throughout the game that give you either special powers or off-the wall traps to catch your opponent. Another nice feature of Mario Strikers is the fact that it's WIFI, letting you play against opponents from all over via the internet.

We also picked up Dave Mirra this Christmas. It does take a bit of getting used to, but once you start figuring it out, it offers a huge variety of tricks and moves, plus a good variety of locations that you can unlock. We loved Dave Mirra for the GameCube, so for us, this was a must get. So far, we have enjoyed it, but not as much as the one for the GC. Hopefully, the more we play it, the more we will learn to enjoy it.

And I'll stop there for now, hope this helps.

Wow! Now that's a review! I'm stealing them! :thumbsup2

So far we have the following games:

Mario Party 8 --DF and I have played it a few times, really enjoy it! We're not video game people, so we like the replayability of it and the board game style. Had some friends over and played it -- tons of fun as a group!

Rayman Raving Rabbids -- just played it last night and what a hoot! Just my speed on the minigames etc, we love it so much that I bough Raving Rabbids 2 today...Some friends cam over and we played the first one for at least 2 hours straight laughing our heads off.

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 -- Just bought it, haven't opened it yet

Mario and Sonic Olympics -- Haven't played it yet...looks good though

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga -- I played it for a little while, looks awesome, but I don't know how to play it yet....can't really review yet.

Mario Galaxy -- My target finally got it in and I bought it on sale...havent been home to play it yet.

Wii Play -- mostly for the extra Wiimote, but its a fun game too.

Wii Sports -- I've played it before and enjoy it, but honestly, we havent played it yet on our new wii.

I love the bowling that comes with the system and the Wii fitness. Have played the Mario Party 8 and thought it was okay, but I lost interest. Guitar Hero is a ton of fun, I like watching my son and DH, and I Lego Star Wars looks like fun when DS plays it, but I haven't given it a try yet. I have played Big Brain Academy a couple of times and that was fun, but I am not sure if the appeal will last over the long term.

These are some great suggestions! It looks like Carnival Games is next on my list from the descriptions. I never would've considered Cooking Mama, but it sounds pretty fun. Maybe I can rent that & give it a try.

Super Mario Galaxy. Average of game site scores has it as the second best game of all time and it is amazing!

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. Difficult strategy game, even on easy mode. If you play, get Path of Radiance for the GC. Great engaging story.

WarioWare, Just a crazy fun game

Rayman Raving Rabbids. same as WarioWare

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. Considered by many sites to have the best console FPS controls to date. Only beaten by PC

Zelda Twillight Princess, and amazing game, going straight through, no sidequests still takes 20-30 hours.

Excite Truck, a great racing game for the Wii, at least until Mario Kart comes out.

Smash Brothers comes out in two months and that will be simply amazing.

I love Mario Party 8 and Super Mario Galaxy! I've been enjoying Zelda, too. But my new addiction is the Wii Zapper. It comes with Link's Crossbow Training which is basically just a shooting game. We had a large group playing it last night and we had a blast! Definitely worth the $20 it costs!

We like SSX Blur (snowboarding game), Super Mario Galaxy, High School Musical, and the new Hannah Montana (though my 8 year old has already finished this one! lol

I forgot to say why you should get Path of Radiance for the GC.

Many characters return, plus it really gets you into the story of the political instability among the different countries on Tellius. Plus you will understand the racial complications between the Beorc (humans) and the Laguz (shapeshifting human to beast). You will understand the war that went on in the last game that causes a lot of the strife in the reconstruction that goes on in Radiant Dawn.

For a Nintendo game, it has a deep and entertaining story in both games that is strikingly mature (the racial complications and political intrigue)
