Just curious what everyone thought about this past weekends event. The good and the bad.

It had to be a last minute plan for them huh? announcing it on Friday that in a few hours later there is a ride-a-thon? What do you think was going on?

Maybe they realized just how much all the stuff was costing us?

My thoughts were, well first suprised. No notice just ready set go LOL. I thought Sparky and QA Berry did a great job with the rooms, but missed seeing the other Hosts have some builds. (We did learn that Host Phinny built a couple for Sparky).

I of course welcome the free stuffz because as you all know I am poor and home.less. I also give the thumbsup :thumbsup2 that I gave them last time around. They really have started to get these ride events down.

Not having VMK pass working made it a much less enjoyable experience. If it wasn't for Fly's 33 party (thanks again fly) I wouldnt have had any time with meh peeps.

I grade it a B. Loved the stuff, wish pass was working. I hope they can get to the bottom of the problem that is going on there. We have gotten really spoiled by the VMK Pass.

What say you??

Wow Aengus - you summed up my thoughts too.

For me the negatives were the pass and the fact that most of the time in the last rooms of each ride all I could see were the messages telling me I got an awesome prize (so really - how negative is that). I made the pass into a game "it is gonna work........ this time!" click - dead pass - "ok, I guess I go do dishes" It was kind of like a magic 8 ball... do I see my peeps or go do laundry...

The positives - Wow - fast lines, great rooms, sneak peeks at lots of unreleased stuff, great prizes to have in bulk, very fun!

I give it a B as well - if those passes had worked - it would have been an A all the way!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 PartyLite

I would probably give it a B as well. The pass issue was probably the biggest problem for me on days 1 and 2. Yesterday I didn't mind as much because I had all kinds of stuff to do all around the house. But yesterday there was alot of freezing and dcing for me. I even got into the room at point and dc...:sad1: But it was good. Prizes were decent. I was hoping to see those really big lollipops but hopefully they will have them on sale. :thumbsup2 Good job and thanks VMK!

I think the problem with the VMK Pass created a secondary problem with wait times. If you take a pass you have to pay attention to the game our you lose your place. With the pass not working I think more people were getting in line and not paying attention to those accounts. Every time I went into a start room there were a pile of people at the entry points and one or two actually on the ride. All the zombies loitering in doorways had to be slowing the lines down.

The prizes were good but as a person who doesn't have a lot of credits right now, and who hasn't been buying up any Gingerbread I was hoping for, shall we say, more variety? I would have liked some roof pieces maybe. I'm not complaining though. Free is good.

As this is my first Xmas on vmk... I absolutely LOVED the prizes. I stocked up all weekend, knowing I have plenty of these cool items for me, some to trade, and some to gift later too. When I saw the rooms on Friday, I was just in awe. It was so exciting to also see some of the new unreleased items (such as the Mickey and Donald gift boxes.) If this was truly thrown together at the last minute, well hats off to those hard working vmk staffers. :woohoo: :woohoo:

As you have all said, the only annoying thing was the vmk pass issue. I am so in need of credit, so I had to take turns yesterday....ride a bit...then play a bit. But on the flip side, while waiting to ride, I was able to get all 60 of my holiday cards written and addressed yesterday. So that was good! :santa: :santa:

I am just happy some of the non- green holiday stuff is now out, so my gingerbread room has a bit more color to it!

The only thing that bothered me was the time but that was MY problem, not theirs, I LOVED the gifts especially the Yellow Gumdrop, anyone that knows me will know why. Thanks AGAIN VMK and once again the Hosts and even Testers made a great job, I don't think Testers get all the praise they should. How about a Tester Appreciation day where hey can release items that have been through many tests such as "Flying Carpet Magic" ok I'm getting a bit too carried away here.

I hadn't thought about that but your absolutely right. I also noticed a huge pile at the door. Had they not been paying attention with a pass, they wouldnt have made it to the room in the first place.

Overall the lines were smaller than the last ride-a-thon tho. I think that might be a result of no advanced notice, not sure.

I have not really done the ride a thon of last month so I dont know when it started (I mean the hour) but I liked that yesterday it started earlier than one hour after the opening. The VMK Pass was not a real problem imo.

I too would give it a B. I enjoyed the challange of trying to open up the special packages in some of the rooms. That was until donald popped up and the greeting said suprise. And the surprize was .......

a nice white box that said you crashed. Thought this must be a fluke I successfully managed to to it two more times and two more times I crashed. So until they fix this bug I wold only be sending this type of gift to people I do not like ROFL.

I found the lack of VMK pass frustrating. As it made the wait for rides longer.

Not so bad if you could move the blank on top of the queue line so at least you knew how much longer but when you had no idea because the blank would not move it seemed to take for ever.

It got to be kind of a game though. Would I be able to get a VMK this time woot I did. I felt I had one a big prized when the odd time it worked. Yes I had won big I had won my freedom to roam around VMK till my number came out. :)

Seeing some new rooms to still be released was cool. Less wait times than last ride a thon.

So I would say big success.

Loved the rooms, rides, prizes - I didn't mind at all the no notice ahead because it was like "Christmas morning" when you're suprised by Santa's visit..lol

I rate it a B also only because of the pass not working right like half the time......if it did work I would give it an A. Thanks VMK!! Love all the new stuff and well done!! :thumbsup2 :santa:

I rate it an F just because I didn't get to experience it and see what it was like, so it gets a 0% from me. :lmao:

I enjoyed seeing the rooms and the surprise of the Mickey and Donald gifts. And of course free stuff is always welcome!!! That said, the short notice was not an issue for me but I felt bad knowing some ppl had no idea and would be totally missing out. BUT, I agree, I think it was a last minute idea to give us some free stuff and give us a break on all the credits we've been spending on all this great new holiday stuff!! I find the "dead pass" to be really frustrating and takes away all the fun of visiting friends while waiting for the rides, so I really didn't spend near as much time doing the ride-a-thon as I would have if it were working properly. It made the wait time that much longer, as someone said already, because all those zombies just standing inside the entrance.....many times I was the only one getting on the ride after I entered! That said, I did enjoy it and the items were something I felt I didn't need to really stock up on, so spending some time getting a few for my daughter and I to share, I did enjoy that.

Thank you VMK!!!

I didnt want to risk getting the pass thing and not only have it not work but even missing it. SO I was able to wrap gifts, finish cards and actually do some stuff that needed to get done while i still did the ride.

AS for the pile up, i promise i was always there as soon as i got in the room! I did all my stuff with the screen in view, thanks to the laptop and wireless! LOL

I give it a B+/A- just because i missed Friday and Saturdays stuff :(

This was my only complaint. I cant ever complain about free things, even if the method of distribution is less than perfect! It was annoying, however, to go into a room with a line of 134 people and be the only one riding the ride.

Thankfully, the lines still went very quickly compared to the other ride a thons I have been to (participated in?) so it wasnt all bad. During the last 45 minutes last night I rode 15 times with no pass!

my first Christmas! I thought it was awesome. Unlike the other ride a thons, I really missed vmk pass. But it still worked out great for me. I liked the prizes and I just keep hitting myself saying I wish I had not brought so many walls because then I could have put my rooms up on those boxes...... sigh....

Well I didn't experience any of the meltdowns in Spakry's rooms, also my VMK pass was working fine for me except for maybe 4 times out of the whole Ride-a-Thon. And I want to Thank VMK for my Filler pieces!!! TY TY TY!! :cloud9: And I can't wait until the Orange Gumdrop Chair comes out. All these great prizes made my rooms look even better!! Now I just have to hear from Yavn about the Building Competition and I'm set!! :goodvibes

I saw Lily out doing her "ride duties" alot yesterday. Oh and Lily, you need to ask for some pants, it's winter time woman!! A skirt and snow boots won't cut it!! ;) But it was nice to see that you were able to change your shirt so you can get the other one washed ;)

Thanks again for the Surprise Ride-a-Thon!! I had tons of fun!! :santa:

I think there should be a ride-a-thon weekend every month or two so we can all get some nifty prizes in bulk that we don't have to spend a bajillion credits on...

Who's with me?

AGREED!!!

I would grade this ride-a-thon an A-.

Why? Because the VMK Pass issue is a VMK issue, not a ride-a-thon issue. There were many people afk at the entrances last month as well, so I'm not one for blaming the VMK Pass problem for that.

I grade this an A- because of the following:

1. It was a surprise, and we all love (good) surprises.
2. The rooms were very well made, well thought-out, and pretty (and made me hungry).
3. We were able to have a preview (hopefully) on some items/room that haven't been released yet, and that's always nice.
4. The minus is from the big shut down/boot that everyone got during one of the days of the event. Clearly there were issues that needed to be worked out. However, it didn't last long and all was well after that.
