What were your favourite kindergarten memories?

I remember one kid running around during recess karate-chopping everyone he could reach (ADHD before it became a diagnosis...). One girl who cut someone's hair, and a boy who ate glue. My Peanuts lunchbox and matching thermos.

We had a couple of deaths. We had a teacher for 2 weeks, but she had a heart attack (at home) and passed away. Also, one of the kids had a heart problem and passed away during the school year after surgery.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of kindergarten for a while!

The teacher bringing in those little cartons of chocolate milk on a big tray. Then fighting to open those darn cartons which never opened very well and we ended up stabbing a straw into it, and then drinking the chocolate milk.

I remember cutting out mittens out of construction paper. Then a teacher brought me to the first grade classroom where I did a math worksheet and got a candy bar from a boy who was celebrating his birthday. The next day I was placed in first grade. My kindergarten teacher, Mrs. McConnell, lived next door to my grandmother.

I remember being gently reprimanded because I already knew how to write in cursive. No, no, you'll learn that in first grade. You need to print in kindergarten.

I remember wishing I was in the other classroom. There were two Kindergarten classrooms and the other one had a really cool play area, with kitchen stuff, and lots of other things. Our classroom didn't have anything like that. :(

I did like that I went to Kindergarten in the afternoons instead of morning.

Loved snack time and nap time.

I also remember having to re-learn how to print my name. My Mom taught me to print it in ALL capital letters. I had a lot of returned work pages with red marks at the top for not remembering to only capitalize the first letter of my first/last names. :(

There was one time we divided up into small groups of 5 or 6 and we had to have one person lay down on a large piece of white paper and the rest of the group traced around the person's body, then we colored it to look as much like that person as possible, right down to the clothes they were wearing. I was chosen to be the person that got traced. :)

I only lived 4 blocks from the school, and my two best friends and I walked to/from school by ourselves - after my Mom walking me to/from for a couple of weeks then I finally managed to talk her into letting me go with my friends. In today's world I can't imagine letting 5 year olds walk to/from school by themselves.

Our teacher read to us the Miss Nelson is missing books and one day she "disappeared" and in her place was Ms. Violia Swamp. She was very convincing and left a few kids crying.

Another time we came to an evening event in our pajamas and brought a stuffed animal. The animals were video taped being mischievous at night. Partying, dancing, and making mischief. It was cute.

Then there were the large alphabet workbooks similar to what another poster posted. I remember that one, might be the R for red, had a clear piece of red plastic what allowed secret images to appear.

Funny story, I attended K in a large city and moved to a town about 30 miles away at the end of the school year. Fast forward to the end of freshman year of high school and I'm talking to a boy in my class. Turns out we were in the same K class. We were great buddies in K so it was neat to reconnect as teenagers.

Oh gosh! Singing around the piano back when all kindy teachers played piano. Learned the Japanese Folk song Sakura in kindy and never forgot it. Ended up living there for a while years ago.

A girl in my k class brought her violin in and played Twinkle and from that day I vowed I would play the violin.

I'm a violinist/ teacher who teaches beginners to play string instruments now.

Forgot to add, I also remember the day I wore a dress to school but forgot to wear underwear-oops!

Seeing my kindergarten teacher coming down an escalator in a department store and discovering that she didn't live at school or stay there 24/7.

I remember being gently reprimanded because I already knew how to write in cursive. No, no, you'll learn that in first grade. You need to print in kindergarten.

Ugh, my oldest son was reprimanded at his Montessori for the same reason. For that, and also he read the words (correctly) without sounding them out phonetically first.

Everyday a different kid would get to paint a picture on the easel, and all the girls would do there best to make a nice pic, but all the boys just thru pain all over the paper and said it was an explosion, after so many did that the teacher told us no more pics of explosions

Naps!!
Butterfly song presentation
I thought my teacher Mrs. Marsh was so pretty and I wanted to be her when I grew up
