What were the rules in your home growing up?

This always bothers me. I can't think of any situations in raising my kids where I felt a reason or need to have different rules or expectations for my daughters than my son.
I totally agree, this was in the 70's and I argued against it then. It was unreasonable and unfair.

I grew up in the country on the same plot of land as a century old family farm. We didn't go many places and thus didn't have a lot of rules. The only ones I remember was no hats at the dinner table and for some reason my parents were averse to us chewing gum unless the gum came from the dentist.

No rules per se. I don't have rules really with my kids.
I guess maybe homework before tv/play. Have to eat veggies at dinner and fruit with lunch.
Too sick to go to school - too sick to go out that evening.

My parents were in charge, they taught us things that we needed to know without making it a lesson. They were life lessons that we took forward in life.

We ate dinner at the table, went to church, had bedtimes, and curfews as we got older,

Respect yourself and other, table manners, being polite, how to speak and address other, especially other adults, how to behave outside of the house.

All the basic's things like laundry, cooking, how to sew a button on, how to iron which came in handy when my brother went in the Air Force.

Think for yourself, don't follow the crowd... My dad always said if they all run and jump of a cliff and you gonna run and jump to.?

As well you had to work hard to get anywhere, nothing is given or free... there is always a catch, and if someone try to tell you it is, they are no good.

Don't judge other, mind your own business, be nice...

Watch your surrounding, be alert and aware of what is happening around you. This could save your life.

Trust is something that is earned and not just given away

Never Ever talk Politic or Religion with family or friends if you want to stay family and friends..

My grandmother taught us that " God gave you warning bells, listen to them!" If your around someone that doesn't feel right, or makes you nervous, or sick to your stomach, get away from them...My granddad taught us all how to grow a garden.

Freedom isn't free... lots of Military and Law enforcement in my family
