What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

Our first trip in 2008 we had dinner our last night there at Liberty Tree Tavern. I think it was Goofy that was making the rounds and taking pictures with my three kids. My oldest was at this point about tired of the whole characters thing ( she was 13) and just sat in her chair. Goofy came round behind her and tried to hug her but kinda grabbed her chest. She told me later what happened and said she really didnt think he ment to but it creeped her out.

The worst interaction was on our Honeymoon in 1996. We ate at the WL for breakfast and Pocahontas (sp) came by our table to sit with us. Well she looked like she had just stepped out of the movie. I could not believe how much she really looked like her.

So I commented on how much she looked like the cartoon and in her SNOOTY voice says "Well I would hope so!":scared1:

I would wonder if we had the same Pocahontas but our visit w/ Pocahontas was about 10 years later. We were in Animal Kingdom way back in the back part and Pocahontas came out. We hadn't seen her before so we thought that was kind of cool...but it didn't really look like Pocahontas wanted to be at work that day!

My worst character experience was not the character's fault. It was 1997 and Chewbacca was out by Star Tours! So I go up to get my picture with him. Well, there was no handler, so kids kept running up and cutting in front of me. I was trying to be patient and nice and wait my turn, and next thing I know Chewbacca is going back inside. Never did get a picture with him. Since then, whenever a kid has tried to cut in front of me, if a character or their handler don't say anything, I do.

My sister's worst experience was with Snow White. My sister's favorite character is Dopey. In 1997 (our first trip as a family), Dopey was out at Magic Kingdom where the Pooh playground now is. She got her picture. When we got the film developed, it showed her and a close-up of my dad's thumb. In 2005 at MNSSHP she and I got pictures with all 7 dwarves, and she stood beside Dopey, and since it was a digital picture I was able to crop it to show just her and Dopey, but not quite the same as having a picture just with him. In 2007, she was very happy to find Dopey and Snow White in Germany at Epcot. So after a picutre with both of them, and my sister asks Snow White to move aside a little so she can just get a picture with Dopey. And Snow White won't do it:mad:! Again, by cropping I was able to show just my sister and Dopey, but because of Snow White she has still not been able to get a good picture of just her and Dopey.

Ok my turn-mine wasn't really a character issue but a location issue-we were hunting for the Beast-the time guide said France-ok we found the big glove sign a started waiting along with about 10 other people. Finally we all started nosing around only to find out the the character greeting sign was apparently for looks only the were by the lake, so now we all move down to the end of the line only to have them leave for a "short" break. They were great once they finally came back but we spent well over an hour on this little quest. On a side note-all Belle's are not created equal-this one, although perfectly in character, had to be about 40.

Our experience was bad but not the CM's fault. We were dining at Cape May, and my family stood with Minnie at the entrance for a pic. As I was taking the picture, my 2YO that my wife was holding turned to Minnie and pulled-off her eyelash! :scared1: I was mortified!! Her handler had to rush her backstage for "repairs". All the CM's were very nice though. Need to find that picture.

My husband and I took our first ever trip to Disney in September 2008. We also brought along my mom and siblings for my baby sister's birthday! We all had a blast and almost all of the character experiences were beyond wonderful, however at dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern, Goofy decided he had a *major* crush on my middle sister. She was 19 but looked more like a 16 year old. I don't know if Goofy thought that she was a teen and not having fun or what (she was actually having a great time) but he started giving her back rubs, making kissing noises, and then worst of all made her stand up and gave her hugs that lasted for waay too long. When she tried to back away Goofy pulled her back and starting rubbing up and down her back even patting her behind! At this point my 6' tall husband tells Goofy to back off. He leaves but walks away backwards, facing my sister and still blowing kisses! Creepy!!

I don't remember this but back in the late 70's early 80's I was at the MK in a stroller with a matchbox firetruck. Over by where casey's is Mickey came over to see my family and he picked up my firetruck... I had a fit and threw my drink on him, soaking his legs! My family was quite embarrassed! And to top it off I have photographic proof, my grandfather thought it was so funny he took pictures of everything. The only problem was the pictures are actually slides...

Would love to see those pictures...

Ours was when DD was just about 1-1/2 and we went to see Mickey in DHS (MGM at the time), she was so excited seeing Mickey while standing in line, until it was OUR turn, then she freaks, starts screaming. Somewhere we have that picture i will have to find and post.

some of these posts are too funny.....:lmao: the only problem we ever had was a breakfast at Chef Mickeys, and we waited, and waited and waited for Goofy to stop and see the kids- so.....after quite a while of us enjoying the scene, coffee, relaxing,my kids eating huge piles of gummy bears;) the waitress, who clearly wanted her table empty, asked if we need anything. "why, yes!" we replied(how kind of you to ask) "we're just going to hang out and relax till Goofy stops to see the kiddos......"
Well,Goofy appeared (almost magically) within a minute, and we got what we wanted! I figured at what it costs our family to eat there,we WILL stay till the characters come and take nice pics with our kids......:thumbsup2

So in the Aurora theme...it wasn't a bad experience but amusing. At MVMCP a few years ago we went to see her with Prince Phillip and she didn't quite fill out the dress :rotfl: Really bad....like puckering dress.....:rotfl:

They make padding for that!

Take them to a true photo shop (not Wal-Mart or something like that) and they will be able to develop pictures from the slides. I did this once with some family photos. :thumbsup2

We had to wait for Goofy too one time. Maybe it's him. :confused3

Not a bad experience, but on our recent trip we had breakfast at CRT and my sister-in-law's boyfriend (who hadn't cared about the characters at all) insisted on a pic with Snow White when she came by. It turns he thought she had a tattoo on her chest and he wanted to see if it was true....it was

First of all: LOVE this thread.
Second: To tell you all about a bad character moment I first have to tell you about one of the best.
Last July,my friends and I were at WDW for our Senior trip. One day at Epcot a Cast Member tells us that if we ask Mary Poppins to say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards, she will. Later on we were walking by the England pavillion and there's Mary! So we get in line to try out the CM's tip and it was absolutely true. She said it without missing a beat, we all got very exited. :jumping1: Here's a link the to video of it you'd like to see ;) (I just uploaded it on youtube.)

Here's the sorta bad (more disappointing) character moment. I wasn't present for this one but my friends told me about it. It was a few days later at DHS's Animation Studios and Mary Poppins was there with two penguins. My friends, who where there, wanted to try the "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards" thing again but when they asked her she simply turned around and said supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. While I admit it was a cleaver way to respond for someone who doesn't know how to say the word backwards, my friends were very disappointed. I remember one of them even said she would have preferred to take a picture with just the two penguins. :upsidedow

But did you know she doesn't REALLY say it backwards???? She goes one syllable at a time from the end of the word to the beginning. Only that first section of the word (last, when you do it backwards) is done truly backwards, letter by letter! My daughter and I learned it that way so we could play with Mary on our last trip.... Funny thing too.... we noticed it wasn't truly backwards as we were learning it, then I caught a story on ABC Nightly News a few days later point out that very thing..... The timing was really odd........

I noticed it when I was a kid. I got really angry with my Disney vinyl because it was cheating. Yes, I was one of those kids who noticed EVERYTHING! :rotfl:

I have one to share - it's not too bad but just funny the way everything piled up. My family (of 6 this time) was at Chef Mickey's this summer and we were in one of those half-booths. Three of us girls were on the outside, and one the inside. So when Pluto comes up, he poses for picutres two at time. But the twos are everyone with whoevers on both sides. No big deal, but for the shot he ended up smashing our heads into his nose. So my cousin and I got our heads smashed twice, and her hat got knocked off! No big. He them goes in to kiss my sister on the head, and (this was camera angle) it looks like he's trying to eat her head! He also ended up stomping my foot, but that was just an accident.
The funniest part is later, I'm heading back to the table with dessert, and cross paths with him (don't know if it's the same one or not). He's in the middle of the way, so I put my hand out to block him on the chance he doesn't see me and almost runs into me since the earlier Pluto was so rough. He ends up high-fiving me - whoops!
I knows that's not too bad, but mostly just funny. Although I;m fairly certain that years ago, Ratcliffe made my sister cry (and she was at least five at the time).

:goodvibes Yes, I know. I heard the writer made it that way so it would sound better or something BUT in the Broadway musical they REALLY say it backwards. I haven't seen the show in person but there are videos in youtube. Personally I like the song from the movie better but the Broadway version is not bad, they even spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious  it's pretty impressive.

Here's a link to the Broadway version of the song: :)

The cast from the Broadway show was in the Christmas parade last year, and, as usual, they do SEVERAL takes. I could spell that word in my sleep!! :rotfl: They kept doing that part over and over and over and OVER!!

Super(pause)calif(pause)...:lmao:

When I was about 18 I went with my friend and her fmly. We were walking around outside the castle and here come Chip and Dale. Well I guess they were lonely and looking to for a girl because they just would not leave us alone till we gave them our phone numbers. Even as we walked away they would block us. Needless to say we gave them wrong numbers but that is definetly an experience I remember to this day. :rotfl2: Just happens that Chip and Dale are my sons favorite characters.

Has anyone seen the YouTube video of Pluto chasing the kid around main street. Poor Kid, but it is hysterical. :rotfl2:
