What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

What an interesting question! I typically have had great interaction with the characters or at least, THEY interact well with me but I've been flustered, awe-struck, or trying to deal with my crying child who is scared so I say thank you and take off (not their fault!). But I did have a bad experience at Chef Mickey's during dinner this past April. Let's forget that the restaurant is gross, dirty, has bad food, and is filled with screaming, unbehaved children. The characters were in such a hurry. I was most disappointed in MICKEY!!! He barely wanted to take photos with us, was annoyed, and didn't want to TOUCH MY CHILDREN! Now maybe I have a touch of 'my kids are great' syndrome but seriously, my children were very well behaved and not dirty or messy (we wash hands several times, use napkins, wipes, and hand sanitizer and our clothes are clean) but Mickey was annoyed that we wanted a few photos (with kids, with me, with all of us - yes 3 photos) and if he didn't have that set 'mask' on, I swear he would have looked disgusted. The good thing is that the kids didn't notice and they loved their dinner there. DH and I however did notice (but we don't say anything to the kids).

Our Mickey last May was impatient, too. In fact, I happened to be taping his time at our table, and we all yell "Impatient Mickey!" when we watch it. My mom's camera didn't go off, and she asked him to wait, and he starts tapping his fingers on the back of the kids' chairs. I think it's hilarious, especially with the big plastic smile, but I can totally see the girl inside rolling her eyes.:rotfl:

At Chef Mickeys in September, we had a Goofy and Mickey who acted like they didn't want to be there and barely stood with my girls long enough for a picture!!!! It was our last character meal before heading home..and we were so disappointed...:confused3 All week we had great character meals and meet&greets! At DHS Jafar was Jafar, of course and Frozone was awesome:thumbsup2

During a January 2007 trip we met a wonderful Aurora, she was so nice to my DD who was plastered with Aurora pins..(i guess she got the hint :goodvibes ) we got great pictures and DD had wonderful memories of the day Aurora became her best friend! Belle was awesome too!

Oh how visual is that??!! A headless Tigger and traumatised kids! I'm sorry if this is cruel but that really made me laugh :rotfl:

Love the story of a kid throwing upover Mickey too :rotfl2:

My worst encounter wasn't an encounter really, more a glimpse of something that should never be glimpsed. Just behind the fence the characters have gathered, the gate opens and there we have...

Mickey doing unmentionables to Minnie. One of the funniest and most wrong things I have ever seen. I was scarred for life.

Oh, c'mon, don't leave us hangin' - details!

a funny story in 1989 i took my wife then girlfriend after her high school graduation anyway we were walking through mk and she see chip and walks up and trips into chip as she was falling she put her hands out to catch herself anyway she come back and her face is as a beet and procede to tell that a girl in the chip costume.now you can guess were her hands hit as she was falling:rotfl2::rotfl2:

This is a great thread.

Thank you for all the stories,
They have put a smile on my face

:)

I will come to Aurora's (at least our Aurora's) defense. Meeting was in Epcot

She took time to talk to DD before and while signing

She pulled DS right into her lap

Peter Pan this past August was kinda creepy. He was like a creepy little boy my mom, sister and I felt awkward taking a picture with him. Haha!

I think I met this one too (Dec 2008) - "creepy" is the word I thought of after meeting him. I don't know - just something not right about him.

As far as Sleeping Beauty goes - we have been lucky to meet Aurora at her most charming!

I just finished going through the entire thread - looking at your pics of Peter Pan - no, not the same creepy one we met. Yikes! That means that there's more than one creepy one!

There will be a lot of ppl who will be quick to disagree, but Chef Mickey's was THE worst of our many character meals and meets during our week there. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto. They were ALL super rushed and barely stopped at our tables. They breezed by. The doesn't even include the fact that it was the worst food out of any of the character buffets we attended!!!

The Peter Pan I met was definitely in character for the most part - acting kind of bored and not wanting to be there. But he also kind of seemed like he was on some serious drugs, which might be where the creepy vibes come from?!

WHEN : 1994 (ish)
WHERE: 1900 park fare, Breakfast
WHO: GOOFY
WHAT: Grabbed my **** in a photo, he got a big "paw" full. I have the photo to prove it....if I ever hook up the scanner...

Til this day, I don't hold a grudge.
Maybe I liked it >>>?:hippie:

We ate at CP before MNSSHP in September. They started the parade for the kids and Eeyore came by doing some kind of weird pseudo-break dancing. It was obviously a guy, and looked a little like a football touchdown celebration. It was really bizarre and totally out of Eeyore character.

Tigger, on the other hand, was doing a happy little skip, and looked much more in character. That's how I expected Winnie the Pooh characters to dance.

Luckily they took a break before Eeyore came to see us, and we were able to interact with a "refreshed" Eeyore. We asked if he was going to the party that night, and told him to try to have fun. He tilted his head and shrugged - in perfect character!

popcorn:: Great stuff here.

Reading these posts and seeing some of the pictures is it just me or does anyone else think Peter Pan should be a "mask" character instead of a "face" character? From the pictures alone he creeps me out, I can only imagine him in person.

January 1994...My first trip to WDW that I can remember. My little sister (just about 4 at the time) was walking up to meet Mickey Mouse for the first time. She gets in front of him, my mom looks into the camera to take a picture...

...and gets the perfect freeze frame of my sister punching Mickey square in the groin. Right at the moment of impact and everything. Apparently they hustled my mom, sister, Mickey, and the handler back stage pretty quickly.

I need to find the original and get a copy squirreled away for blackmail and future embarrassment. :)

Fun thread!

We've had our fair share of rushed character dinners and photos, princesses that barely talk above a whisper. At CRT, Belle in her yellow ball gown refused to bend her knees so I could get her head in the photo with my son sitting in the high chair. Yep, we asked her, she said no. Not even an explanation. That year every princess at CRT was acting like a snob.

Worst character moment was not the character's fault. My son was not yet one. He was walking, wearing a onesie and shorts. We were the only family meeting with Aladdin and Jasmine, so the kids were getting a lot of special attention. Jasmine was planting princess kisses on my son, even holding him. Then, his diaper started leaking! Poor Jasmine was so sweet about it, I guess my son was just so excited by the attention that he and his Huggie couldn't hold it anymore. Actually, because he was being passed back and forth between Aladdin and Jasmine, he basically had a wedgie that leaked. Won't forget that character moment!

Mine was at Disneyland Paris. They don't have CM's with nice little lines for most of the character meets; the characters kind of wander.

I was waiting for my husband outside of a restaurant, reading the menu on the wall when Captain Jack, came up, grabbed my arm, turned me around, and started speaking in French to me, about an inch from my face.

I do not speak French other than please, thank you, etc. Whatever he said, he repeated it again, still in my face. I was scared. I have no idea what he said to me. He might have told me that he liked my shoes or he could have been telling me that I had toilet paper sticking out of my pants.

After he repeated himself and was still getting the look of stupor from me, he wandered off and found some children who were much more eager to see him.

Gotta stick up for Peter Pan!!! We had a wonderful one last December and again in May (not the one in the pictures in this thread). My DD has a complete crush on Peter Pan, so she was very starstruck. He was absolutely wonderful with her on both trips. He played with her and on both trips got down on the ground to be at her level to have a conversation with her. In December when she was 2, he sat on the ground with her in his lap for pictures. In May, as we were walking away, DH whispered in my ear "If I didn't know better, I'd think he was the real Peter Pan". We ran across some great characters and he was one of our favorites!

Some interactions we've had... I think the character interactions at CP were the worst. That place is a madhouse. We actually have a really good Aurora interaction... she took her time with my girls and was very interactive. My DD7 asked her what kind of shoes she had on and Aurora replied, "why, dancing shoes, of course!" and showed her her shoes. She the proceeded to give my girls a little dance and twirl lesson and spun them around. It was very cute!!

I think the step sisters were the best interaction we've had at 1900 PF. Prince Charming was wonderful - he asked my DD7 to dance, and she replied, "I can dance, Aurora taught me how!" It was too cute.

The worst one wasn't a bad character, it was the situation we were in this past trip in September. Just through the entrance of MK was a line for Pinocchio. There is a cart there in the corner, and the man that was working it passed out. My husband went over to help (he's combat lifesaver certified) and I stayed in the line with my girls to keep them occupied while Dh performed CPR on the guy. No paramedics showed up... a huge lack in communication with people, but Pinocchio was great at keeping the kids occupied while the area was closed off and the CM attended to. He ended up being fine, had a heart attack we heard later. Scary. Older gentleman, too. We missed out on most of our fun that day, because DH was worried about the guy. Some security people took him behind closed doors, wouldn't allow my DH to accompany him, and still no paramedics had shown up. We worried about him the rest of the day, as my hubby was the only person that had some sort of medical training. Not even so much as a thank you - but DH would have replied, "just doing my job."

I {heart} my soldier.
