What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

PP what a mean Jasmine!

Our experience was this past April at the Tusker House breakfast with THE Donald.

We had been to Chef Mickey's a few nights before and got Donald's autograph.

We had a 8:00 AM ADR at Tusker House. Whe the kids put their autograph book out for Donald to sign, he saw his name in the book and pointed to it. I said something like, "Oh yes, remember we saw you at Chef Mickey's the other night?" He then closed the book, put it on the table and LEFT! He never interacted with the kids or signed any of the autograph books. (we had 5 kids ages 8,6,3 and two 2 yearl olds! The kids didn't understand why he left and did so so abruptly. It was weird. and the kids were afraid of him by that point ...;)

I went over to his CM and told him that Donald just passed by our table and refused to sign our books. He had him come back about 10 mins later...WITH attitude. Crossed arms and all. I know that is Donald's character but C'mon Donald, It is Disney World after all!

The same thing happend to us at Tusker House in July, except with Donald, AND Goofy. Our kids were upset and confused why they wouldnt sign :confused3. It really upset us all. Yes, our kids have alot of the same autographs in the books, but they love it and there were plenty of extra pages, which we had open to and ready. Our bad we didn't say anything though...

In January at 1900 Park Faire, Mary Poppins had a bit of an attitude with me. DH was taking a picture of me with her and she pushed my shoulders back and said "sit up straight it looks much better" to me. I was a little taken aback, and at a loss for words.

DD (3) had 2 bad ones on our trip last May. 1 was completely not the character's fault.

1. We were seeing Buzz and Woody across from Toy Story Mania. DD had taken a picture with them and we were going to get a family picture. Buzz and Woody were playing with DD and Woody bent down to play more with DD just as DH was picking her up to hold her for the picture. Unfortunately Woody's cowboy hat smashed her in the forehead. DD was bawling. Poor Woody felt terrible- he kept trying to pat her and cheer her up, but she was still crying. The photopass photographer of course went ahead and took a picture. It was a lovely picture of my DD howling with pain. Woody's hat actually left a bruise.

2. We had the worst Cinderella ever at CRT lunch. We were one of the very last families in the lunch seating and she was clearly exhausted. She was barely friendly to us and was not smiling and looks like she is about to fall over in our pictures. After we got our picture taken, we were waiting for a table. There were about 2-3 families that got pictures after us. After that, Cinderella was just standing there with her handler waiting to see if any other families showed up or if she was done. She was facing my DD, who was standing with us fairly near the rope, so DD asked her "Where's Prince Charming today?". Not only did she not answer DD, she turned around and turned her back on her. I whispered and asked DH if he thought she didn't hear her as I couldn't believe what I had seen, and he said No, it was very clear she heard her and was turning to get away from answering her. ACK- my 3 year old got dissed by Cinderella!:scared1: I'd understand if DD was bugging her or if she was busy, but she was standing there doing nothing facing DD, so DD (who didn't take a step forward or approach her) just asked her a simple question. As we were leaving CRT, DD informed me "That Cinderella in there was fake! I think the real one was too busy in Toontown to come to the lunch." :lmao:

She is a nannie after all.....sit up staright dear and elbows of the table, I wasn't there soooo, but it sounded like she was in character

Mine wasn't bad but more embarrasing.. Lilo had to fix my DD's hair!
So you won't feel all alone out there, Belle had to tie my DD's shoe. She has always loved characters and she got one awesome trip with DH, myself and my Dparents. So she had 4 adults helping a 3.5 yo get as many autographs as possible. We were so busy running her around that only Belle noticed that her shoe was untied. And I have the best pictures of her bending down and tying it. :thumbsup2

And I can't wait to get home to see the pictures of Peter (work pc doesn't load them). I need to know to stay away from him. :goodvibes

What an interesting question! I typically have had great interaction with the characters or at least, THEY interact well with me but I've been flustered, awe-struck, or trying to deal with my crying child who is scared so I say thank you and take off (not their fault!). But I did have a bad experience at Chef Mickey's during dinner this past April. Let's forget that the restaurant is gross, dirty, has bad food, and is filled with screaming, unbehaved children. The characters were in such a hurry. I was most disappointed in MICKEY!!! He barely wanted to take photos with us, was annoyed, and didn't want to TOUCH MY CHILDREN! Now maybe I have a touch of 'my kids are great' syndrome but seriously, my children were very well behaved and not dirty or messy (we wash hands several times, use napkins, wipes, and hand sanitizer and our clothes are clean) but Mickey was annoyed that we wanted a few photos (with kids, with me, with all of us - yes 3 photos) and if he didn't have that set 'mask' on, I swear he would have looked disgusted. The good thing is that the kids didn't notice and they loved their dinner there. DH and I however did notice (but we don't say anything to the kids).

I agree. I think she was just "in character". My DH has always wanted to get a picture with her so I booked 1900 Park Fare and she was great and so pretty but she was serious and "practically perfect in every way" just as she should have been:thumbsup2

We have had some close moments and have learned to warn the characters, mainly the princesses. Our DD22 months at times has a grabbing problem, I also tell them about sticky hands, 1 fail swoop and a wig comes flying off. Not good for kids behind us.....all of our pictures with the Princesses have me between our youngest and the Characters to prevent such a thing:thumbsup2

Heh, more Aurora stories. The good and the bad.

When we went in 2006, my DD (then 4) was dressed in her Sleeping Beauty costume. We were lucky that day; we had a GREAT Aurora at Akershus, who came over and talked to my daughter for a few minutes, and then planted a kiss on her forehead (that she eventaully sweated off a few hours later). It was the highlight of her trip.

When we went this summer, we went back to Akershus. Older DD was 7, and the little one was a month shy of 3, was dressed in a Sleeping Beauty costume, and was almost completely ignored by Aurora. I had to actually point out that she was trying to tell Aurora that she was wearing her costume.

I do remember that Cinderella was especially nice to both of them, but made sure to pay special attention to the little one.

One time at the CP it was me, DW and my mom. Waiting for Piglet to come by, gets to our table and just walks past. Okay, that was weird but whatever. NO worries, here comes Pooh, walks right by doesn't stop. Starting to notice a trend here. Okay, third times a charm right. Nope, Tigger gets up to our table and just keeps walking.

I look at my wife and said, "are we even eating here or is this some strange dream". She pinched my arm, just to ensure we were actually here (although I think she could have been a little nicer about it).

I mentioned something to our server about what happened and a couple minutes later each of them came over to take pictures. It turned out fine but to have 3 characters in a row walk right past our table like we weren't even there was kind of weird. There were a lot of kids around us so maybe that had something to do with it.

Your DH hovering and staring at Peter is whats creeping ME out.

I think it's halarious!!!! :rotfl2:

If my kids were spoken to in a off colored manner, I would expect my husband to be standing there with the same look on his face, and I would hope he would keep that same look until "Peter Pan" got and saw that look so he knew that he did something wrong. Seeing how my husband looks like Mr. Incredible, (he really does look like him, he's a big guy and stands very tall) I think Peter would wet in his tights! :rotfl:

She is a nannie after all.....sit up staright dear and elbows of the table, I wasn't there soooo, but it sounded like she was in character

This is exactly what I was thinking. I hear she can be supper sweet or very proper and stirct in character. Now if she said "Shoulders back dear, it's best to show off the girls in proper form." Then I would have busted a gut and thought she was the best Mary Poppins ever!!!! :rotfl2:

I was traumatized by Tigger once many years ago at DHS. DH and I were just walking along, when suddenly I felt this big "tap" behind me...it was Tigger bouncing along and tapping my shoulders! I totally wasn't paying attenion and about had a heart attack. DH, who loves Tigger, thought it was hilarious.

I once got inadvertently ignored by Stitch. We were waiting to take a photo with him and Lilo, and the people before us had a really cute little toddler. They were done and Lilo was ready for a pic. with us but Stitch was still playing with the little one...and continuing to play. It was no big deal to us as we weren't in a hurry, but you could tell Lilo was getting a bit embarrassed until she finally got Stitch's attention.

The Mad Hatter and I had a not so nice encounter at the Tea cups. He was really rude and at first I though he was just going overboard in character, but NOPE he was fine with the next victim...This was my one and will be my only MH attepmt...creeped me out too bad...:sad2: All others have been great!

If it makes you feel any better we gave Mary Poppins a bad character experience. She had just come out and was doing a little meet and greet outside Akershus while we were waiting for the 1st lunch seating to start. It was DD's 1st trip and she was 2 yrs 10 months. She had seen the movie and was excited to see Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins got down on on her knees and hugged DD and then started talking to her in her best and cutest snooty Mary Poppins voice. Theconversation went something like this: MP: "Do you like games?" DD: "Yes". MP: "Spit Spot. My favorite game is clean the nursery- would you like to clean the nursery with me?" DD responded with a complete panicked look, by doing her best "Home Alone" mouth round and huge loudest scream "NOOOOOOOO!", and by running away from Mary Poppins as fast as she could through the gathering crowd. DH and I had to take off running to try to catch our child before we completely lost her (which I'm sure Mary Poppins also saw our panicked looks when DD took off which was probably also quite comical). As DH caught DD, I looked back and poor Mary Poppins is trying her best to stay in character and avoid falling over hysterically laughing. She did a good job of it, but when we were walking back to go into Akershus after catching DD, she couldn't resist catching my eye and we gave each other a little giggle.

I'm seeing a Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan theme here, lol.

I was just at WDW with some friends last month and my mission was to see as many characters as I could that I've never gotten to meet before. We had a LOT of good experiences and a few uncomfortable or just plain "blah" ones.

One of them was at DHS in the Animation Studios. It was a rainy day and it was a character jackpot in there. We'd gone in to see the UP! characters, but got some bonus pairings. We saw the UP! characters first and truly...the line was super short and there was nothing but adults in it at that point. We had all three character...Russell, Carl and Dug....and they had NO personality. No real hugging or anything. It was almost like they were afraid to touch us. They did the same to the two young Australian women in front of us too. Not sure what was up with that. Then we went across the way to see Goofy and Pluto...and Goofy especially was pretty boring. Not acting silly at all. Pluto was more fun...but it was more of an interaction between him and his handler.

The next set of characters we saw resulted in a funny/embarrassing moment for me. Actually...while it was embarrassing, it's one of my favorite moments. Chip and Dale had no one in line, so my friend and I went over to get pics and autographs. I went up and they were kind of touchy feely...in several of the pictures it almost looks as though I'm being suffocated by one while the other gets REALLY close to me on the other side, lol. We got ready for the picture, and suddenly...Chip is a good 5 feet away from me and staring at me, then staring at my bag. Apparently...when we all squeezed in for a picture....my cell phone vibrated and it was somewhat of a shock to the poor chipmunk. He started hitting my bag and looking at me like I did it on purpose. :rotfl: Even after my friend went up for pics, he was still admonishing me for scaring him. I was pretty red in the face, but all of us got a good chuckle. My friend got great pictures of it, too. The CM however, did not. She was too busy busting a gut.:rotfl2:

The worst one had to be on my last day. We'd gone over to the MK for the morning before I left, and I wanted to the the Pirate Tutorial. We waited in the POTC area for a bit, and I ran to the washroom. I found Peter Pan and Wendy, so I ran back to get my friends and we jumped in line. These two were the most BORING individuals. Peter didn't seem to know how to deal with adults, and Wendy was practically mute. They interacted with each other, but it was uncomfortable and strained. It went like this....

Peter Pan - Wendy....can I be your brother.
Wendy - *silence*..."ummm...nooo....I, Um, already have 2 brothers. I think there's, a , a RULE about that somewhere. *grimace*

It was just awful. All other "people' characters were fantastic and right in character the whole trip - all the princesses, the fairies, Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Lady Tremaine. I wanted to get away as quickly as I could. I may try to have another meet next month with Peter Pan in his new location, just to see if he's any better, lol.

On our very first night of our very first family trip, we were having dinner at Chef Mickey's. There were 7 of us traveling together and my ds was the only child (he was 5 at the time). While we were waiting to be seated, Pluto came out to the line and began interacting with other guests. He was very cute, even dancing with one woman up and down the line.

Anyway, our son wanted to meet Pluto and get his autograph (it would be his first). He shyly went up to Pluto and handed him his pen and held out his autograph book, but didn't think to open it. Pluto was gesturing for him to open it, and we were calling to him to open it, but it was loud and he couldn't hear us. Pluto got mad, took the book and then threw it and the pen down on the floor and stomped off. Our son was so sad! He couldn't understand why Pluto had been so mean to him, even though we tried to explain what had happened.

Ds has laughingly held a grudge about it for 11 years now! In fact, we ate breakfast at Chef Mickey's this last trip (had his younger cousins with us) and when I looked at the photo we took of the 3 kids with Pluto, I cracked up ... ds was totally giving Pluto the side-eye! :rotfl:

1) On a hot August day, Tigger passes out in the autograph line.
2) Paramedics had to remove the head of the costume.
3) The person wasn't gross, but the broken illusion was.
4) Didn't bother me, but the grandkids had to be talked to later.

Oh how visual is that??!! A headless Tigger and traumatised kids! I'm sorry if this is cruel but that really made me laugh :rotfl:

Love the story of a kid throwing upover Mickey too :rotfl2:

My worst encounter wasn't an encounter really, more a glimpse of something that should never be glimpsed. Just behind the fence the characters have gathered, the gate opens and there we have...

Mickey doing unmentionables to Minnie. One of the funniest and most wrong things I have ever seen. I was scarred for life.
