What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

Most of our interactions have been good. Cape May Cafe and Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast were pretty bad in general, but they certainly do not overshadow the great experiences we have had.

In 06, we were in line meeting Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie. Youngest DS had his birthday shirt/pin on since we had picked one day of our trip to celebrate his birthday. We went over the kids fall break to minimize the older kids time off of school, and DS's actual birthday was only 5 days away. Jasmine saw his birthday button and asked, with attitude "Is today his actual birthday?" I was honest and said "No, but we had to come when his older brothers were out of school" She turned around to Aladdin and snottily announced to EVERYONE there "It's not really his birthday. People should not wear buttons when it's not really their birthday." I mean really? He's getting ready to turn 2 in a WEEK, and lots of people have their birthday parties a week before their birthday.

We decided she was cranky because she can't eat much to fit into that costume.

Last October we were at AK and DS3 tried to hand King Louie his autograph book like he had just done with Baloo, not knowing at 3 that Louie doesn't sign. However, Louie grabbed it with both hands and took off. Then he acted like he was handing it to DS, but when DS went to grab it, Louie pulled away. Over and over. The first time or two was funny, but after that DS was crying, and wouldn't even try to give it back, and Louie wouldn't even let me have it. I was starting to get really peeved, as DS3 was crying, I have 2 other kids standing there, and I have some ape running off with an autograph book.

Oh, laughing so hard at the look your dh is giving Robin Hood! I can't blame him. I think it's just disconcerting for a man (like Peter Pan) to have such beautiful hair and eyebrows. :upsidedow

Peter Pan must have had a cold, he kept rubbing his nose and sniffing.

:rotfl: I'm not so sure it was due to a cold!

PP what a mean Jasmine!

Our experience was this past April at the Tusker House breakfast with THE Donald.

We had been to Chef Mickey's a few nights before and got Donald's autograph.

We had a 8:00 AM ADR at Tusker House. Whe the kids put their autograph book out for Donald to sign, he saw his name in the book and pointed to it. I said something like, "Oh yes, remember we saw you at Chef Mickey's the other night?" He then closed the book, put it on the table and LEFT! He never interacted with the kids or signed any of the autograph books. (we had 5 kids ages 8,6,3 and two 2 yearl olds! The kids didn't understand why he left and did so so abruptly. It was weird. and the kids were afraid of him by that point ...;)

I went over to his CM and told him that Donald just passed by our table and refused to sign our books. He had him come back about 10 mins later...WITH attitude. Crossed arms and all. I know that is Donald's character but C'mon Donald, It is Disney World after all!

One year we were at Hollywood Studios and were waiting to greet a character (Eeyore? It was a while back, not sure). Anyway, from the characters side you see a kid of about 13-14 come running up, whack the character in the head with a barehand slap then run away again. The character is reaching up with both hands to its head and you can hear moaning as the CM leads it away.

wow... that is kinda rude! we went to DL last year 2 weeks after dd birthday and told them it was 2 weeks ago. no one seemed to care!

DH did not like Peter Pan when we were there in March. Cannot remember the problem he had with him (he is in Atlanta on business at the moment) but the look DH is giving Peter

DH adding-
Peter made some type of comment (cannot remember what it was exactly) and I just gave him the look.
Out of the 76 characters we met during our visit, how perfect the CM's fit their characters, Peter just totally took the magic away during this meeting.
How I wish I could remember what he said.

Your DH hovering and staring at Peter is whats creeping ME out.

That is the same creepy Peter Pan we saw! I thought how odd, you could actually see his five o'clock shadow at 11:00am thru his thick pan cake make up. He was also very sarcastic to DH and I, and had a very short and hurry up kid attitude with my DDs. Older DD walked away saying "if you don't want to do your job, go get another one you like better!" We all were just really creeped out by him!!!

I just read your post to my DH. He said that is exactly what made him mad, very sarcatic and the get it over with now attitude.

:thumbsup2 to your DD.

That is the same "creepy" Peter we saw in January. My daughter didn't like him at all.

Here is the backstory. The day before this happened, I got stuck in the Exposition hall because it was pouring, so pluto set up inside for a meet and greet. The same handler was here both days.

So the next day I decide to see pluto again, so I ask where he's going to be, and wait there for 20 minutes. Pluto and the handler shows up, and it was the same one as the day before. SO I am getting ready to see him , and there was a line behind me at this point, and she was like, you got to see pluto yesterday, and let people get in front of me. I was SO upset, because I thought she took the magic away from this meet and greet.:sad2:

I saw this same Peter in the end of July, but he was absolutely great! He was perfectly in character, and made me feel really special because of my hat, pins, etc. :goodvibes He is one of my favorite Peters. Sorry you guys had a bad experience, but there was also no reason for your DH to be like that you know. He could of handled the situation better in my opinion.:headache: Have a magical day! :tink:

OK, I just did freeze frame on my video (since we lost the camera we had taken still pictures on at Disney World), and we had the same "creepy" Peter. He wasn't creepy, but he was just really lame. I don't even think he looked at the kids for more than a second. Wendy was pretty boring, too, but at least she made eye contact with the kids. Even my mom, who's not nearly as into characters as I am, thought they were a yawn. He's got some fabulous brows, though.

We had an AWESOME Peter Pan when we were there for grown-ups only in March.

Every time I have met Aurora, I have found her to have zero personality. I don't get it.

Me too! We met 2 on our last trip and they were the worst princesses. One of them was actually rude, almost yelling at my 3 year old to hurry up for a picture. Hello? She's 3! I found the two Cinderellas we met to be much sweeter and nicer.

jgazda, that's quite a picture of your poor DD! It's strange to find out what can scare them--when DD was 3 she was terrified of Grumpy, just mentioning his name when talking about the 7 dwarves would male her yell "don't talk about him!"

As for Auroras, we met one in Epcot-France who was low-key and mellow but very sweet and friendly.

Did the PP edit her post? All I see is that her DH gave Peter a look. I don't see that as "handling" a situation poorly. In fact, I don't see it as "handling" a situation at all, just responding.

1) On a hot August day, Tigger passes out in the autograph line.
2) Paramedics had to remove the head of the costume.
3) The person wasn't gross, but the broken illusion was.
4) Didn't bother me, but the grandkids had to be talked to later.
