.....and why? :jumping4:

I've been thru a lot of different New Year Eve's but one of my most memorable was getting all dressed up with some girlfriends and going to a fancy party out in Colorado with plenty of dancing and champagne, hats and streamers! The only true New Year's party I have ever gone to.

It was fun, but now I'm happy sitting at home with hubby and sons! :)

My most memorable New Year Eve was in 2000. Me and DH went to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden for the "Millennium" concert. What a blast that was!!!!

I don't think I will ever be able to top that!

This is easy ;)......the year DS was born, 12/31/87! Now, EVERY New Year's Eve is a celebration! :bday:

New Year's Eve, 2003............... without a doubt. We (DW, DS6, DS4 and I) stayed at VWL. My in-laws, who also are DVC members, watched the DS's that night.

For a big part of our Christmas present, they treated us to the Luau (while they watched the DS's). DW and I had a great meal, terrific entertainment. We then rode the monorail for a bit, got a "rum and Coke" at CR, then took the monorail to MK around 11:45p.m.

Not a great fan of crowds, we headed straight for the boat that takes us to WL. The "captain" said the boat wouldn't be leaving until after the fireworks. We said "fine by us" and got on the boat anyway. It was a perfect location to see all of the fireworks.........not just those at MK, but everywhere.

Best part? The boat left about 2 minutes after the fireworks ended and we were at the resort well before 12:45a.m.

Well that would have to be NYE 1996 when I flew half way across the country to see my BF who is now DH. We went to Atlantic City with his parents and aunt and 15 minutes before midinght he won $1600!! :earseek: We then walked on the boardwalk and closed down the Hard Rock. It was that night that I knew someday I was going to marry this man. ;)

my new year eves are boring..i guess the best one would have been about 10 of my girlfriends getting together last year and all getting dressed up nice to go to olive garden a movie, then we all stayed at my house--fun, but not anything too exciting

That's an easy one - New year's Eve 1997 - I got married!! Perfect night for a wedding - everyone I know tells me it was the best New Year's Eve party they had ever been to! Kind of hard to top now!!

I think my most memorable New Year's Eve is approaching. My brother-in-law is getting married on Friday evening. I know it's going to be more fun than sitting home watching tv, which is what we usually do. When he announced they were getting married on New Year's Eve, I said to my husband "Well, at least we'll have something to do that night" LOL

I admit none really stand out. Except when I was a teenager, we were drinking and walking through the neighborhood singing Christmas carols.
Drinking age was 18 at that time! Boones farm was $1.25 a bottle.

Oooh, we did too! It cost a small fortune but was worth every penny. Do you have the CD?

NYE 91 my new husband (we were married for about three months) we went to our friends house and spent NYE at his Times Square apartment. It was a blast. We were able to go to the roof of his building and see the ball fall down, and see/hear the crowds! That ball is so small, it was a little disappointing.

We were able to see/hear the craziness, and not have to deal with the pushing craziness. We went to the buildings front steps and could see the nuts.

I remember waking up at 3 am and seeing the street totally trashed.

I met all sorts of neat people such as Broadway actresses, singers, and other stuff.

New Years Eve 2001

Spent most of the night in the ER. Woke up that morning with a killer migraine...DH (boyfriend at the time) had to take me to the ER for a shot in the butt to make the dang thing go away!

We are usually low-key on NYE...not a big deal to us personally.

there's so much pressure to go out and have a great time on NYE. I like to keep things a bit low key that night. I've lived on Long Island my whole life, but never ventured into NYC to see the ball drop in Times Square. maybe one day I'll rent a rom at the Marriot Marquis for NYE, but you won't find me penned up in the street with the crowd.

my now-ex dh and I got engaged on NYE --12/31/85. so obviously that's a night I won't forget.

a few years ago my younger dd and I spent NYE in the ER -- she'd stepped on a splinter, not an emergency per se, but she couldn't put weight on the foot so the splinter had to come out and the only option was the ER.

KimRaye I am the same as you. The night my dd was born. I think it is the only New Years Eve I remember the whole thing. I don't drink so its not that, just no other New Years Eve is as memorable. This year and the last she wasn't with us and I miss not seeing her on her birthday but I will be talking to her. Her and her dh go to a friends house instead of to our family party..(her ds's house).

1996--I was at a low-key house party thrown by a new work friend who happened to live a mile down the road. I didn't know anyone except for my hostess, her room mate and her boyfriend. Then this guy walked in and there was just something about him I liked right away. We were paired up for Trivial Pursuit (we won), and he gave me a hug at midnight. We had our first date two weeks later, took our first big trip together to WDW later that year, got engaged on Valentine's Day 1998 and honeymooned in WDW in October 1998.

Last year... was walking on the Mall in DC at midnight... great weather... with shadows being cast down from trees above. Really quite wonderful.

Mine was about 2 years ago with my dh, his bf and bf's wife. We went to Niagara Falls - it was like a carnival! Although it was only about 5 degrees, we were at an outdoor karoke bar for hours, drinking beer (from pitchers - and it was so cold that there was a film of ice on top!), singing songs and just having a great time. I normally am freezing for for me to be outside like that and not even feeling the cold just showed how much fun I had and how much beer I had in me! Good times!
